when i hear or read someone who's not black say the n-word it makes me sad because it feels like an attack on my person.everytime i become friends with a white guy he becomes comfortable enough around me to say "nigger" a lot.it's always in a joking manner but there is no joke, there's no punchline or build-up, it's just a slur maybe haphazardly surrounded by other racist things meant to be absurdly humourous.i think these people view me as a personal shield they can fall back on and reassure themselves by saying "see? im not racist, i have a black friend that doesn't push back on my jokes. they're just jokes."this makes me sad, i realized a long time ago that this sort of shock humour isn't actually shock humour but a poor attempt at masking actual feelings.i see this sort of stuff everywhere nowadays, it feels inescapable, what do I do?
