You never know what you will discover by trying things. This Software Engineer job might lead to opportunities you never knew existed.

People here like to clown on it for some reason (though maybe that's an America thing), but consider going back/staying in academia is always an option to consider, especially in computer science.
Of course this isn't for everybody and mostly applies if you can see yourself doing that in the first place, but it's a good alternative to the code monkey grind.
