Modern culture's obsession with entitlement killed the romance genre

>2000s
>the audience is allowed to feel mad at a character simply for hurting another character by being callous, dumping them, etc
>this was considered normal and healthy audience participation
>characters are also allowed to be flawed without being seen as terrible people
>2020s
>if a character exhibits even mild possessiveness towards the person they like, the audience hates them even though it's necessary for conflict
>if you're upset with character A for dumping character B, everyone will get mad at you because nobody's entitled to a relationship etc
>15 years ago they would have been mad right along with you
>>
Ive killed over 20 niggers over this shit
>>
all gestures that were romantic in the past are now creepy, toxic and entitled too.

Do you have any example in mind? Seems like you are talking about some movies or media in particular.
