yeah that is a really good idea, anything that involves developing technical skill is a great pursuit. I like shooting a lot, mainly got into it for self defense on account of being jewish and living in a town full of genuine neonazis, but I fell in love with the intellectual and engineering side of it. Things like this are a rabbit hole but I love rabbit holes. The problem is that you will be frustrated by normies not understanding how hard it actually is / not appreciating the skills you've worked hard to acquire, but that's not a big problem.
