Is poker the only game played with a standard deck of cards that has a skill element to it? I recently got some cards and have been looking for games to play, but seemingly all of them determine winners only by chance.

blackjack but really all you need is a good understanding of the game

gin rummy is way more skill expressive than poker, you can force them to overplay, put out high value card bait, then prepare your hand to go out quickly causing all the cards they're holding to negate their score, play off of cards they've played,

its the gold standard of card games

Gin Rummy and Bridge are both skill based AF.
