I am volunteer librarian, I could help curate a reading list to help you, if you want.

You think that's bad? I'm so used to refreshing boards I don't even have the attention span to watch five minute-long youtube videos anymore.

Personally, I would start off with either adult novellas or older children novels (do not be embarrassed, I am talking about shit like Deltora Quest and Harry Potter), then work from there.

Starters (pick multiple):
>Deltora Quest
>Harry Potter
>The Pearl
>To Kill a Mockingbird (people might judge me for this one as far left and far right hate this book)
>late-19th to early 20th century Sci-Fi (there are a dozen authors to go by for this).
>And my wild card is Moby Dick, read on a chapter-by-chapter basis, the language is not that hard, aside from the whale anatomy stuff. It is a very comfy read desu.
>Older mysteries (most are short story collections or are novellas/very small novels).
Intermediate:
>This is pretty open, but mid-sized British and French novels from 19th and 20th centuries.
>Shorter Russian novels (the average Russian novel is longer).
Advanced:
>Chinese stuff
>The rest of Russian stuff
>Shakespeare comedies
>Longer British and French novels
Master level:
>Shakespeare tragedies
>Anything in Middle English or early modern English.

Try this:
>Start small
>Read 5 pages a day
>Everyday
>At a similar time
>Of a book that REALLY sounds interesting to you
>Preferably a short story or novella
>With a nice ritual of stuff like: warm beverage, comfy chair, away from distractions like phone/computer/TV
>Every day mark somewhere (app/notepad) that you completed the 5 pages
>After the first week, get a little treat e.g. coffee & a cake
>The next week increase the page count by say 5
>After a month get yourself a big treat!
>Finish a book? Try a longer one!
>Over time try books outside your comfort zone

Its kind of funny that Ive consumed all the same shit you have proably for longer and I'm not bricked. I just kind of assume you have underlying issues and are desperately seeking any reason you can to not just blame yourself.

Reading is boring as shit 99% of the time. 100% of writers and publishers are women who hate men, and it's been like this since the 90s. Skip new stuff and fiction all together. Read about stuff instead. Something relevant to your interests or activities you enjoy. Unfortunately even large books have bad photos. If you want to figure it out you'll probably have to draw it or waste hours trying to unpoison words on google.(usually not possible).

>attention span issues
>Harry Potter
Try Conan the Barbarian short stories by Robert E. Howard since they were originally written for magazines and thus are either short or have short chapters. Lovecraft and Clark Ashton Smith are good too, though not as riveting unless you're into their brand of writing. Stainless steel rat stories by Harry Harrison are great as well since they have fairly evenly short chapters that all have cliffhangers/set ups for the next to keep you reading.

classics are pretty based. i don't deal with women hating men.
