It screams, "I'm new and read about 4chan from a web article from 9 years ago."

Pepe posting peaked around 12-13 years ago after the rare Pepe market bust. Posting the heavily artifacted first return on Google image search for "4chan frog" is borderline insulting. It'd be like going into a black barber shop and yelling "Whoop, there it is!" expecting to be accepted.

Most of those people are new too and don't know better. There's folks on /v/ that can debate Ocarina of Time because they played it on the N64. /v/ brought a lot of people to this site a decade before /pol/ had any sort of cultural significance.
