No, the internet was not better 20 years ago. It was exactly the same shit. I was scrolling through from posts from 20-30 years ago, and it's all flooded with low IQ takes, low IQ grammar, retardation, and nostalgia

Every old thing you worship from the "old days" was equally shitted on when it came out, and the same complaints about a forum being "dead" and having been "so much better in the past" ALWAYS take place inevitably.

People were trash talking the PS2 when it came out, saying "gaming is dead", that it was "too expensive", that Nintendo was "quitting the console gaming business" (6 years later they'd release literally the best-selling console of the 7th generation and now they have the Switch)

same shitty takes

also no, it wasn't more "comfy" or more like a "community". it was the same as nowadays with social media algorithms turning every group into echochambers, and it was the same thing back in the day with forums for specific subjects.

Objectively wrong post. Before the internet was driven by creativity. People shared and created for the sake of it. Now the internet has been flooded with people who want attention for profit, which has encouraged a level of content so mediocre because it only exists to make someone money. So everyone else copies that because they want to make money too. Everything on the internet has been condensed to only a handful of sites, so that content is catered to the advertisers. It's all about money, and that is absolutely not what the internet was 20 years ago. Back then it was ludicrous to think of someone ever making money from youtube. Now 99% of content on youtube is people regurgitating the laziest content because they get paid to.
Never suggest the internet was always bad because that is not the truth, retard.

i feel like this might be one of those things like when people complain about the quality of products. but you can still buy quality products. its just that in addition to that you have massive amounts of cheap crap available
the internet is a lot bigger than it used to be
im not really sure though its hard to be objective

>the internet is a lot bigger than it used to be
The internet only seems bigger because the amount of users has drastically grown. The internet used to be niche. The only way to access it was on a desktop computer. With phones, anyone can access the internet anywhere and at any time. There's no purpose for niche forums or personal websites because everything can be shared on the few large social media platforms. Unfortunately the majority of people using the internet have absolutely nothing valuable to add and are merely just cattle to consume content and make advertisers money. The internet is catered to these people because they are the largest demographic using the internet.

yeah but thats exactly what im talking about, those large social media platforms didnt exist 20 years ago
>>

Social media has always existed on the internet. Facebook and myspace existed 20 years ago, they just didn't have the users to take off, mostly because internet access was limited to a desktop computer. Of course social media blew up with the introduction of phones that are always connected to the internet.

Is your entire argument just based around people bitching about something new? Newsflash Zoomer: that's been a phenomena in humans before we had electricity. Cherry picking some posts off a forum you strangely won't even mention isn't helping your case.
>>
>>80065053
so you agree that there are more platforms now and they are much bigger than they were then? cause thats all im saying

I genuinely with my entire heart hope all millennials drop dead soon. what a worthless generation of zombies. Anytime i hear one speak fondly about LE EPIC OLD INTERNET i get goosebumps, fuck just die!

Dumbass, people making money from Youtube allows better content. We have actual documentary quality videos and channels from people who actually care about their craft and they get to make highest quality content because they don't have to worry about earning a living from elsewhere. If you don't know how to filter your feed that's your problem. Youtube algorithm is actually very good, people just dont know how to use it.

it was better because Facebook and other gay big tech websites weren't around yet, simple as
