The thought of self-improving disgusts me, and I don't know why.
But whenever I hear "Push yourself", "give it your all" I just feel deep repulsion across my entire body. I don't know why.
I absolutely loathe the idea of proving myself to others, even myself.
I don't want it to be this way, I wish I had the drive, but I just feel this deep contempt for the very idea. I wish it wasn't this way. It makes me feel terrible. But I can't help it. Does anyone relate?

not really, its not that i hate the idea, rather than i dont give that much of a fuck to go through all that pain and suffering. like i think im just going to finish the things i have to and just live 2025 like its my last year on earth or something

I totally do. At least when it comes to video games. It feels pathetic to admit, but I will never try. I'd rather set the difficulty to baby mode than spend any time training for a fucking game

That's okay, I can sort of understand, anyone can play games any way they want, games should fun first things first.

I sort of relate. I feel like it's a toxic internalization of the idea of "be yourself" way too fucking much. In my formative years a moral message that was hammered the fuck into my head is "be loved for who you are, not what you aren't" and I autistically extrapolated that into meaning that self improvement is wrong because it's changing who you are to please others.
Workin thru it bit by bit.

Because people who succeed in life don't need to self improve. They're just...good at something and it works out because they have innate talent and good genetics.

If you need to improve yourself it's proof you're not gonna make it.

I'm okay with improving myself, for myself in some ways, I did lose weight and improved in other areas.
But when I feel like I have to change to fit someone ideals/standards is when I just get really repulsed for some reason, I don't know, I feel like an insane retard for it.

yeah no one whos successful has tried hard and improved their skills. there is no way for your life to get better it literally impossible.

Because those phrases are an invitation to do something you don't want to. If you truly want to do something, it won't feel like you're "pushing yourself" when you do it. There's also the fact that "self-improvement" as a concept didn't exist until very recently. Humans, like all animals, used to just exist as they were without obsessing about how "worthy" they are to anyone. They didn't have mirrors, money, etc. Humans also used to look a lot healthier and more similar to eachother because they were legitimately healthier. They weren't deliberately biochemically sabotaged like us. Living naturally was the only choice they had. They weren't exposed to all these industrial toxins, they weren't brainwashed to eat the wrong foods and destroy the right foods, among other things that have ruined our health and therefore our appearance. You're revulsed by the idea of self-improvement because it's deeply unnatural. No one used to do it, and they never had a reason to either. You were biochemically sabotaged, which negatively affected every aspect of your being, then you were made to think it was all your fault and that you need to dedicate years of your life doing things no one ever did in nature such as exercise, putting toxic skincare products on your face, plucking hairs, and all this other gay and ultimately self-destructive busywork. Real self-improvement mostly amounts to minimizing toxin exposure and maximizing nutrition, which translates into living more naturally. You can undo some damage, but starting as an adult you'll have many unfixable problems. You can however drastically improve outcomes for your children this way, then they can do the same, eventually resulting in truly healthy humans somewhere down the line. It has been proven that animal degeneration from biochemical sabotage can be undone in about 4 generations

It's not about proving yourself. It's about becoming a stronger version of yourself. Are there any video games where you don't try to get better skills, equipment, and experience? You should be living your life like it's a video game. Always trying to improve your stats and skills.
