Was Diogenes based?
>>80070825no.no one actually knows what cynicism is anyway.
>>80070835He was just looking for an honest man.
>>80070825I don't think so. What did he achieved? "Look, I'm a cynic!"?
>>80070825i have doubts he was as based as some of his stories are, but since we will never know for sure i will say he is fucking based
>>80070840the idea that an unhappy conscious can create a logical picture of the world is, uh...
He would piss, shit, and masturbate in public. When Alexander the Great heard about Diogenes he sought him out to marvel at him. Alexander greeted him and told him that he would give to him anything which he desired, to which Diogenes responded: "I want you to stand out of the way, you're blocking my sun." Alexander was amazed at this response, not even the greatest military leader could compel Diogenes. Alexander then said: "If I weren't Alexander I would want to be Diogenes."
He was redpilled on the groid.
>>80070825he was sort of based. he made fun of plato for being retarded. that's based. living like a hobo in ancient greece is also pretty based.
>>80070825YesEspecially when he BTFO'd Plato with the "Behold, a man!" thing
>>80070825More than Nietzsche at least.
>>80071163Nietzsche was just insane. This man has principles.
>>80071145That was him at his most cringe and reddit. The masturbating in public and living in a barrel parts were cool.
According to Aristotle: >Diogenes held the soul to be air because he believed air to be finest in grain and a first principle; therein laying the grounds of the soul's powers of knowing and originating movement. As the primordial principle from which all other things are derived, it is cognitive; as finest in grain, it has the power to originate movement.
>>80071193Shut up, Plato, I know it's you
>>80070825Yes, criminally so. Being "based" means to be unrestrained by social pressure, so he undoubtedly qualifies.
>>80070825Was Diogenes based on what?
>>80071606Authenticity. Way to show you're a permatourist.
>>80070825>Was Diogenes based?Incredibly so. Not that I could ever live like him.
I honestly marvel at the Ancient Greeks for being so advanced and self-aware. The fact that people like Plato and Diogenes could exist 2,400 years ago is amazing. Most peoples back then barely even rose above being animals but the Greeks were speculating on the nature of the universe outside religious or social conventions.
>>80071606And whence, perforce? Forsooth, thoughbeit whatsoever this or thusly, ask then whence, whereforeby and withwhatsoever?
>>80070825Diogenes once wore rags for clothes and Plato said to him through the hole in your clothing I can see your vanity
>>80070825More based than Socrates the ugly fag and Plato the chicken fag
>>80071163>t. never ever ever read a single word of Nietzsche
>>80072817Not that anon, but he doesn't need to, his character speaks for itself.>In love with a slut>Proposed to her three times and rejected every single time>Frequented brothels, possibly homosexual ones>Contract syphilis from said brothels and subsequently dieSay whatever you want about his philosophy, but the man himself was absolutely pathetic. At least Diogenes is an entertaining retard, Nietzsche is just an ignominious one.
>>80070841It's an achievement when you're the first one
>>80070825He was the most based.
>>80070825Diogenes was an entertaining character but a terrible philosopher. The only real trick he had up his sleeve was using very deliberate and clever but obvious word play and logical fallacies as a "gotcha." There's a reason he never participated in fair and eloquent debates. He'd just throw at pun at you and leave. Which is funny as hell and highly memorable but generally Diogenes was more of a jester than a philosopher.
>>80073370He believed living as a demonstration of philosophy was more important than philosophically debating and he was right. The influence he had on others such as Epictetus and Crates was huge.
>>80070825Thus nigger was a redditor.
