While i do agree that the poopoopeepee era of late 2013 and early 2014 was incredible, it was far from the "first era of pepe". He had already been a popular meme for at least 3-4 years before that. In fact, the poopoopeepee era was a response to the fact that pepe was becoming too mainstream and was an attempt to shock the normalfags away from him.
It was used to drive away normies who flocked here after the whole Elliott Rodger episode. However, it did the complete opposite and brought more people in just like how goreposting brought more people on /b/.
