This is an air duct heating/cooling system in a house that partially burned down last summer. They hired another guy to do it, and he did half the job really badly then quit, and we got hired to finish this mess. No duct seal on anything in the attic and it's already wrapped, he made so much extra work for us. Worst job I've been on since I got started, and I've been in some foul stinky shit.

i can do programing, set up, tool building, fixturing most of it. im fairly sure the skill/knowledge cap is much higher than most trades, except when you become a engineer, then it goes way into lala land
if you are kind of a nerd, the machinist is a nerd trade, some old heads will try to keep info from you, so whenever you learn everything you can, you gotta go somewhere else

Yeah you couldn't afford a house in the US on 21/hr, but I'm lucky I was making 25/hr when I bought my house, and that was more than enough. Interest rates were lower then too so I got locked in on a pretty good deal. Property tax doubled since I bought my house though so I'm starting to struggle. Hopefully the taxes have topped out though, can't imagine the state wants more people moving out due to high taxes. Can't raise revenue from people if people don't want to live here.
