Learn to fight now now, go to a boxing/mma gym and sign up for classes. Get strong. You might only have to fight a couple times but do so, never bitch out and cave to demands. That just makes you more of a target. All you have to do is prove you're not worth the time in solitary.

Saying he was off his meds might get him a little sympathy but not much. I would say anon better get right with any deity he might believe it because he is in for hell. He will be beaten up, likely on the first day after they check his paperwork. He will always have any canteen or commissary stolen from him. He will be extorted for any money he has on his books. He will be assaulted regularly and the guards will almost certainly turn a blind eye or maybe even help those doing it. He will always be hungry, he will never be safe and at some point he will be stabbed to death or get his head smashed into concrete.

It won't be fun by any means but because people don't want to get sent to actual prisons they tend to behave better. I said earlier in the thread to learn how to fight now just in case. Most often fighting once or twice to protect yourself or your stuff will be enough for you not to be messed with unless you run up debts. Will you have anyone putting money on your books?

Now are you sure you're getting 40 years or is that just the max allowed? You better pray the judge (I'm assuming judge rather than jury sentencing) is in a good mood that. If you are allowed to read a statement make sure it is all about how sorry you are and remorseful you feel.
