I might have fucked up big time trying to send a present to someone in America, since customs are reportedly destroying packages if you've packed food and I very stupidly added some Pocky without realising this. Instead of sleeping I was badgering UPS to intercept it and return it to me but I'm not sure if they will. Please leave a quick prayer for me.

>>82657333
Sorry your sleep has been all messed up. I'm currently dealing with that now and it's awful.
>Touhou Project Niji Sousaku Series
I've had all the chapters downloaded on my tablet for months but I've still not got around to reading it yet. I really should.

>>82658335
>I couldn't finish that one unfortunately...
Not a fan? I really enjoyed the soundtrack. I remember playing Elden Ring and wondering if I'd like it more if the guy who did Nier's music also did the soundtrack for it.
>What's it about?
Skeletons navigating the afterlife in a kind of film noir setting. It's one of the old LucasArts point and click adventure games.
>2, CD and 3 were a lot better
I'll have to check them out at some point, since I feel like I can't be a true gamer without having touched it. I think the only Mega Drive game I've played is Toejam and Earl and I quite liked that.

i can't take this loneliness anymore, not when life keeps throwing people on my face who are dating, engaged, or married all the fucking time as if to mock me

anyway, stay safe, you all
p.s. i listened to all of the nazrin theme remixes, i think i like the colombian one best, but the house remix ain't half bad either

it does nothing to distract myself, it just reminds me of that which i'll never have

i went play dead cells for a little bit and that helped
what does not help is that i'm having a case of limerence so when life throws that on my face, it hurts twice as more
but i'll get over myself very soon now that i can finally acknowledge that

plenty of escorts to be had or one night stands even
what i want is companionship, and if you think it's that easy to get, then think again
i'm aware that i'm my own problem but working to solve it is going to take... more than what i can give at the moment

>They just need 2 find the right ppl
i guess there's some truth to that, but then again i'm not even sure where to look anyway and i don't count on my luck that i'll just stumble on that person

>What is the difference?
i imagine info systems has a stronger focus on telecoms and the software itseld
there definitely is overlap but computer science goes deeper into the theory of computation itself, like we figure out what's the idea behind what a computer does, why it does things the way it does, etc.
it's kinda like studying what people do and how they communicate vs. studying why they think the way they do and how they reach that train of thought, there's overlap but the focus is in different things
do correct me if i'm wrong though as i haven't studied info systems

Hey, Kaguyanon. I just woke up from a nap but here's the gist of things:

-New Ranfren came out at 6 AM today
-Skipped 33 went straight to 34
-They're being silly in a tent
-Lots of Luther and Randal interactions in this one, very nice

Doing pretty well overall.

>>
>>82674646
>You didn't have to beat the game that many times, did you..?
There are 3 main endings, the others are joke endings if you die in a specific way or complete certain tasks.
>Having you search every corner of the map for an item?
That or using every item on everything you can interact with. The remake added pointer controls so you can see what's intractable by hovering over everything, but the original release only had tank controls so it was even harder to see what you could do.
>By the way, what do you think of his new game OD?
Cautiously optimistic, as with all his games. Even if it sucks, it'll be weird and authentically him, which is more than most non-indie games can say.
I was sad that PT never went anywhere (although there's a schizo theory that that was the plan all along) because a horror game by him and Del Toro could have been incredible.

He'd just sort of show up in random threads. I probably replied to him a couple of times. I got the sense that he cared a lot more about the site than Hiro does, partly because he used it without his capcode.
>well u should at least b able 2 get the important items back right?
The best case scenario is that it gets returned to sender (me) or it passes through customs and gets delivered. The worst case scenario (and probably the most likely at this point) is that it gets sent to a plant and burned. If that happens I can claim the value of the package and buy some of the stuff again but anything with sentimental value would be gone forever. Customs doesn't give a fuck.

>what's softball like?
like baseball pretty much, if you're familiar. except the ball is bigger and underhand pitches are done instead of overhand
>age a bit moar gracefully
that may be so in terms of physique but you can't stop the inevitable joint/muscle pains/injuries as you age, especially if your job is really physically demanding like playing a sport for a living. most softball players retire in their 30s
>desk job or mechanic job?
if they paid the same? mechanic no question
>aesthetics
i really like indie twee fashion so that's what i aim for. i wish i could have been an adult in 2010 so i could have enjoyed the popularity it had at the time. besides that, i also wear a lot of business casual because that's the dress code for my job. but i also wear it outside of my job because the clothes are pretty expensive, it would be a shame to treat them purely as a uniform. i like the attire anyhow, it's comfortable. if i feel lazy or just want something more practical then baseball tee's and jeans it is
what are your aesthetics like?
>natural at chemistry
i suppose that's true about the history thing, unless you became a professor or something like that. well it's good that you found what you enjoy, some people never do. is it fun to wear lab coats?

are your fingers calloused from your guitar playing? i would imagine all the tapping would make it so. im assuming you play electric, do you play acoustic as well?
>How come?
we were short on money and bills were around the corner so i sold it. i learned a few songs on it, it was fun. i told myself i'd buy another one later but i never did
>What do you prefer doing in your free time?
i like going to the gym, playing pokemon games and shuffling, like the dance not the card game. just alone in my house though, im not brave enough to do it in public occasionally, if i have enough spending money i like going to the batting cage. i used to play softball and before that lacrosse, i don't anymore. do you like to play any sports?
what else do you like doing in your free time?
>Unusually healthy coming from an Ameriburger...
i eat pretty clean generally
>Cookies, fruit juice

I wish I had an easier time talking to anons in this thread. Admittedly, it feels like I don't really know the people here. Making new friends takes some effort... or I might just be overthinking things like I usually do.

what's making it difficult, mio anon?
>>
>>82680243
Well, I overthink things, I get jealous, I don't want to put in the effort but I also want to get to know you guys better and I want to make friends. It's all just a mess of thoughts in my head. That's what's difficult for me. I think I find it difficult to read the very long replies the posters in your threads usually make; it's pretty intimidating for me. It can't really be that big of a deal though, right? I could just reply to anyone I'm interested in. I feel like I was better at making online friends a few years ago when I was less anxious about things. I would just talk to everybody and try to make friends with everyone, but I guess I got hurt too much to still be that open to people. Then again, I'm always up for a challenge so even the pain of the past won't stop me forever :D Imagine if I used that attitude in real life! I think I would make a lot of friends in real life if I wasn't always so worried about every little thing I do. I suppose it is natural to avoid the things that hurt you instead of rushing face-first into them though.

I am like that as well, believe it or not! I Overthink things a lot 2 and I even get jealous. I hope that makes u feel a bit less alone! I also have issues with long replies, but it's something i have been working on 2 fix. It feels very wrong 2 see a long reply and 2 reply with only a few sentences... We're all r a mess, remember that. Maybe it'll make things a bit easier!
>>
>>82680338
Well, you guys have always felt very relatable. I think that, if I can knock down the walls I always keep up around myself, I'll feel a bit less lonely when I open myself up to making new friends and not worrying so much about the mistakes I make (and I will make mistakes and they will suck, but not worrying too much about it is the way to go). As you always say, perhaps we should Take It Easy.

I'm never truly taking it easy because either I get myself stuck in a stressful situation or my mind invents a problem to worry about. If we're talking about today, then no. Currently dying of stress right now. It's going to be like this for a long, long time until I get things under control. (Maybe I should swallow a handful of antidepressants or something... bah, won't solve the actual problem at hand.

Maybe, or perhaps Konami was actually trying to hold him back with all the nonsense he wanted to put in his games, and they knew he would've done irreversible damage to the Silent Hill franchise, so they kicked the freak out before it could happen. He's been a weirdo ever since he left Konami

>Never played that one, what's wrong with it?
It's a horribly buggy mess with a bunch of bad shooting sections the director didn't even want in the game. It's really unpolished. But it's got a cult following because it's so odd and completely unlike anything I've played before or since. I've heard it's a bit like Twin Peaks but I've never watched that. I'd say SWERY probably even weirder than Kojima but less artsy.
>they knew he would've done irreversible damage to the Silent Hill franchise, so they kicked the freak out before it could happen
The schizo theory is that he knew that they knew that and decided to make the demo into an allegory for him getting fired. Bravo Kojima...

>it's a cool field but it's one of the most math-intensive ones comp sci graduates can pursue

yee but it's not solving math problems though, all the boring calculations and shit the program or a library runs it, i just do the infrastructure and that's kinda fun..

it's fine man, that must've been very terrible for you, like that felling of being completely useless sucks, even more if you try and you don't succeed

you can do it though, i believe

>everything else is just boilerplate work
i kinda see it, if you mean that doing a program to solves a math problem is fun then yeahh i see it

but if you don't, then i don't really agree cause i like solving a stupid problem like "make a program that helps cumgut to manage hist sperm count in oz using functions" that shit's (kinda) fun

again if what i just said is what you mean by math then i agree lmao

>Why that specifically?
i think that it gets money, and is less uncertain job wise than let's say software engineering, but software developer is cooler, especially if i jump from there to a videogame dev now THAT would be kinda fun

my dream (job) actually, and i get kinda exited whenever i think about it would be to work for square enix, but i've given up aaa looooong time ago on doing that

and i also think that the work would get boring after about a year, again i'm not that passionate about this type of stuff, being home is super relaxing, no stress all comfy it's nice

not to say that i wouldn't like to try and see how it is to work there, but i would still prefer to focus on the simple things in life, cause people get lost when they work and forget how to live, and that's
fucking scary, and super sad as well

good. i'd be devastated if you did.
but i'd say another strength of yours is how you're still finding ways around hopeless situations, even if they require big sacrifices
it's important to have that kind of determination to keep pressing forward despite the shit life throws at you, and i highly admire that

let's keep on walking, shall we?
on that note, did you do anything fun today? i know i did, lol

>>82687366
>i just do the infrastructure and that's kinda fun..
anon, to do the infrastructure you need to know what exactly it is these things are doing and when to apply them, you'll have to learn all that stuff anyway
you won't have to actually do the calculations but you'll have to understand them well enough to know when to apply them and what they're supposed to output

That's true. It's good to have options but there's so much stuff on there now that you can't find anything you want.
> maybe it's bad enough to be good...
There's some genuinely good stuff in there and I really like the characters, it's just executed poorly. The PC port borders on unplayable so your best option is emulating the PS3 release.
>I didn't know they went full mobileslop at some point
Around that time they gutted most of their studios. They seemed to have U-turned now but they just gave up on making games for a few years.

thank you so much man, ok so:

>questions related to work:

1: how does programming work when you're collaborating with various people? not as to what programs are used to do this, but, is your code inspected by someone else from time to time? is it edited by other person? or you just take care of one area that you're assign to? (if you work in a big project with other people of course)

2: is the use of chatgpt and other ai' a common sight? and how is the general filling towards them among your coworkers or people in the field in general (i have an idea, but i would like to know how it is inside the actual professional field)

3: would you say that the field is competitive? in software engeneer? (i'm assuming you're in software, but anything will do really) like how long was it before you found a job? and did your college or university had any certifications courses or programs or whatever? if so would you reckon they're useful or meaningful? if you took or know someone that took one or various? cause my college offers them for free, so i'm thinking on taking all the ones that i need

>questions related to the carrer:

1: how much people did you saw getting their degree at the end? was it many? was it too little?

2: how difficult were the tests or exams during the last two years?

------------------***

thank you so much btw junas, i'm kinda thinking about this since yesterday, but i'd like to find a balance between the stupid career a job in the future and my life

if i do well now, maybe, just maybe the future will be alright for me, and that's all i want

so anything i can learn helps me a bunch, and i like to know people's experiences with stuff

also to make it clear, i don't hate the career, but i'm realizing now (yes, now, i'm maturing xd) that data science is a bad idea for me at least, so now that this year i need to declare a major i don't want to fuck it all up (i think)

>what makes u so scared of starting stuff?
I have a deep fear of starting homework ingrained in me. Probably has something to do with the way I was treated as a kid.
I think a few people in this thread actually study things that are related to what I'm studying so I could ask around, but off the board.
>>82687239
What kind of stuff do you usually sew?
>>
>>82687828
>how does programming work when you're collaborating with various people?
well since i'm still a newbie at my job, it usually is inspected by the more senior members
edited? only if it's related to their tasks, but any bugfixes are on me since i'm the one who did it
in my own projects, we take care of the projects themselves, any area that we can
the team leader knows better than to assign someone a task they're not qualified for, lol

>is the use of chatgpt and other ai' a common sight?
we've recently began using amazon qdeveloper and it's quite helpful, but we're all aware it must be used responsibly
can't trust the code implicitly, we review and test the changes always
the general feeling is one that AIs are useful, but not gods, they're tools there to help you but you must know how to use these tools
there is no silver bullet here

>would you say that the field is competitive?
it's... oversaturated, and nepotism runs rampant
took me a while to find a job and i couldn't find any working for private institutions so i had to study for public service admission exams
took me around 2 years before i started but i lucked out
as for courses, we had to do 200h extracurricular activities to graduate and courses counted, so we went on courses platforms (e.g. udemy) and got some certificates
they were definitely useful but practice is something else entirely

>how much people did you saw getting their degree at the end?
i never paid attention, i just know almost all my uni buddies graduated (and they weren't many)
in my graduation ceremony there were like... 10 ish people

>2: how difficult were the tests or exams during the last two years?
they were difficult, but the 3rd year was harder than the 4th solely because i was also interning 6h a day while taking 7 classes

>i'd like to find a balance between the stupid career a job in the future and my life
ikigai is a nice concept to think about, may be related

>2 weeks out of the hospital, my mother and friends beg me to make it to December...
that's the price of being loved, anon
i'm sorry you can't seem to feel it, but not unlike me, that's all they can really do
cry and beg that you'll be fine, that you'll get better

>What am I living for ?
i often ask this myself, but maybe there's no reason
at least, other than spending my time with great people like you guys around here
and you definitely rank among those amazing people i like so much over here, so if you need a reason, then let it be this moment, these times you spend with us
we'll gladly listen to what you have to say, dear. we enjoy your company, just the way you are. you don't have to leave us so soon.

>I'm not blonde, for one
what's your hair color then?

>what flavor ice cream did you get
there was this white chocolate one in a big cone, border had some pistachio ice cream with shredded cashew nuts spread over it
was quite nice, but the cone took me a while to eat and some of it melted lol
two drops made it to my jeans but they're dark so it was fine

A knife.
>how come?
Part of the problem is that I went in winter. It's just generally a pretty depressing place to live, I suppose - video somewhat related as well. Going back just made me sad and really appreciate where I live now.

>>82688004
>I'm back to taking Benadryl to sleep every night,
I used to take a lot of nytol (which is a bit like benadryl) to help sleep. It stopped working after a while since I got a tolerance and antihistamines aren't that helpful for sleep. Getting an eyemask helped my sleep much, much more, so consider getting one if you don't have blackout curtains or if your devices have a light on all the time.

eiki anonymous, an englishman in a foreign city of neon lights and sleepless streets. a scholar who came to hong kong chasing a doctorate. not just to finish a paper but to put order to the world with citations and footnotes. but in a space between the living and the dreaming he found another syllabus. one not bound in books but written in shadows. a nightmare that seemed as real as the crowded alleys outside of his window, yet vanished like smoke when morning came. eiki anonymous will return to his studies, to his routine, to the quiet company of his own mind. but he now knows that in the pursuit of knowledge, some truths simply don't lie in libraries, lecture halls or academia. instead, some truths live in the uncharted campus of the human imagination. a campus in the hippocampus who's gates open only in... the twilight zone *doo-doo-doo-doo*

>>82689538
>ambition the fifth, to keep the tradition going. that one i used to petsit was the fourth, i didn't meet the first three. do you have any pets?
we used to have 2 dogs. Now all we got is a bunny. My sister's the one who's responsible 4 it
>they have catchy songs imo
what is your favourite TMBG song?
>were you good at it? did your team win?
i think i did alright, can't recall if we won though
>i guess so. but still, taking care of the temple is still important anyhow!
r u taking care of your own temple?
>at first it would be. from my understanding, mechanics don't really start making good money until they're older, like in their 40's or 50's. unless you own your own shop
Would you open your own shop?
Would it be difficult to do so?
>15 years is a pretty long time... i would have been 4 years old then lol
i'm not old...
i'm not old...
i'm not old...
>my biggest complaint is that twee style clothing is less easily available since it isn't as trendy now as it was then. i look through old clothing shop catalogues from that year and there's so many items i wish i could have bought. thrift shops and online shopping has saved me in that regard, but buying online is always a gamble. luckily business casual never goes out of style so no issues there
do thrift shops always have the clothes u want or is it a rare sight?
>like track suits? i don't have any strong feelings towards them. do you wear them?
i wear a hoody and track pants at home when it gets colder
>do you enjoy all of the different pockets it has?
yes! I need the pockets! Especially during summer when i can't wear the puffy vests
>even in the summer? don't you get hot?
Yeah, what else can i say, aesthetics over all!
>don't like your countries culture?
I just prefer western cultures a lot more...

uhh the classic one. White ones make me feel weird...
>maybe. i've never heard of warm milk with cereal honestly. is it common over there?
Not sure, i think most ppl eat cerial with cold milk here as well. I think i'm just a weirdo haha
>i prefer water, tea or coffee. milk in the morning never agrees with my stomach, i would get cramps for the first half of the day for sure
When i drink coffee i always drink it with milk and sugar. I wonder why it makes ur stomach so upset. Ur not allergic 2 milk r u?
anyway, goodnight, lurker-chan! Sleep well!

The Survivors, after looking it up.
>...is it more AI?
Yes ;_;
>r u gonna attend?
I'll try to give a talk. If not I'll still try to attend.
>that's great! Hopefully u'll get it back soon!
No, I mean it's headed to the recipient now. Now I need to worry about it getting stolen.

>>82689513
>spoiler
Yeah, that's me. Thank you for the sensible chuckle.
I don't know how close to an episode it was, but I was with a group of a few people in the middle of nowhere. The only thing there was a house where a nice enough midwestern couple lived there. Except part of the house was sectioned off by a cage/railing and they lived in that bit. I was told that if anyone tried to go in that part of the house we'd all be killed. Then some dumbass in my group stuck her head through the railings and at that point I tried desperately to wake up.
>or have you only played the originals
I've only played the originals. I want to play Clover at some point though.

It was about an empty planet and the only thing there was a house with two middle aged people on it. I don't remember much else.
>about what? Ur thesis?
Legal aspects around server shutdowns and fan-hosted servers.
>wait i thought it was gonna get destroyed...
It's not. It somehow made it through customs without issue, they even believed it was a gift (which apparently they don't these days). Whoever filled out the customs paperwork in Hong Kong is a hero.

i want to go back to sleep, especially since it's a slow day today

>>82689513

at least i don't hate working here, it could be worse
how about you, what do you work with again?

>what kind
a goldfish as usual, always been a fan of them

>do you think maybe you'll open up more as time goes on
maybe? i hope so, but i'm usually quiet irl, especially with them because i don't have much in common nor can i relate a lot of times
but you're right, it's not so bad... do you get along with your coworkers?

>burn things up
lol, i was a pyromniac in the sense of burning bridges, although watching things burn was fun too
i just think maybe if i'm right and it makes me more mentally stable, i could've avoided so much pain in the past, and it was such an easy fix...

>piano in metal

here have another one that got me hooked into those rock/metal arranges back in the day, particularly demetori
i used to call it "the song of songs" for some reason, lol

>doing a program to solves a math problem
Yeah that's what I meant, real problem solving and not the usual boring backend work like writing queries and stuff. Frontend can be boring too but at least you get to be creative (when you're allowed to), and if you're good at it you can do cool stuff with math like animations, 3d rendering, etc.
>it gets money
So you're just chasing the money?
>videogame dev
Would you do the art too or just the code?
>work for square enix
Final Fantasy fan I assume?
>the work would get boring after about a year
Yeah most dev jobs do... A lot of game devs seem to stick around for longer though so I don't know about that career
>being home is super relaxing, no stress all comfy it's nice
Same thinking... We weren't born to take it hard...
>forget how to live
Living to work instead of working to live
Society is such a scam, we should go back to the woods

True... Most of it is slop anyway
>There's some genuinely good stuff in there
Like what?
I watched some clips of it last night and thought it looked horrible. That first part where you drive around in your car is so unfit for a horror game... Unless the horror is in how bad it is?

Oh, well I would name Ichika Nito for starters
https://youtu.be/lpPih3tTuM0
and Marcin
https://youtu.be/s43PDheTOqQ
Their playstyles aren't my preference but they're insanely good at what they do
Then there's Bernth and Syncatto who have conveniently done several collabs so less homework for you to do
https://youtu.be/9XnHJNKEcW0
Tosin Abasi also deserves a mention, he's the one who taught Tim Henson how to thump. Harder to find good videos of him showcasing his techniques
https://youtu.be/GkmtoEeTisQ
You already saw Steve Vai collabing with Polyphia in Ego Death. Any other guitarists who have collabed with them are also great
Way too many to list like I said... too many I haven't even discovered yet. My recent favorite is Sebastiside

>do you ever feel the incentive to ride a bike more again?
Oh yeah, I'm probably gonna do it on the mountains when I get a new bike
>are they as grindy as people say
They strip your life away
>what kind of games do you tend to like?
I could yap about it for hours but I'll spare you the trouble and say gamey ones with a good sense of progression...
>do you typically prefer sweet things?
Not necessarily, but if I eat too bitter I like to have something to counteract the bitterness with it
What kinda bitter stuff do you like?
>>
I have to stop being a neet but I can't get over the trauma of getting ghosted in countless interviews

>>
>>82692330
>True... Most of it is slop anyway
Yeah but it's sad to think the best game ever could be drowning in all of it and no one would ever play it.
>Like what?
It being a horror game kind of got thrust upon it by upper management - originally there wasn't meant to be any combat and you'd just go around doing detective stuff. I like the driving parts because he tells fun stories.
I don't know how to describe it other than it tickles my brain in a certain way that few games do. I really likes games where NPCs follow certain schedules and you have to be in the right place at the right time. I can only think of that and Majora's Mask that do that.
That and I just plain like York as a character because he's so odd.
>Konami can't be trusted anymore
For sure. I know they horribly mistreated the BEMANI staff (who make all the rhythm games) as well during that time. Japanese companies can be brutal.
>How much is it there?
About 50 eurodollars.
