When I write in my journal I write only the most interesting thoughts I'm having or purely clinical reports of my day. Basically, I'm writing so when I look back at it years later I'll be able to get a holistic look at my past self without also being boring. If your blog is just made for venting then it'd be painful to look back on without logging anything else about you beyond being depressed.
