How did millennials become cringe boomers so fast?
>>
>>84023149
Its so weird I've never fit in with my generation but now that we are all old suddenly they are indistinguishable from me.
Weird.

i never understood this, i'm 32 and still feel the same as i did when i was 21, i was always fat and unhealthy though so that could be it

no idk what cooning is i though t you misspelled cooming
>>
>>84023195
Cooning is when you simp for a group you are not apart of by being self deprecating sincerely or otherwise
Its jester maxxing but for acceptance
>>
i was watching a qt millennial streamer doing a final fantasy lets play and she was using all cringe millennial phrases and references and i realized it made me connect with her so much more than the younger and hotter zoomer streamers who i have nothing in common with. i realized that i really should settle down with a millennial girl its just more cozy to be with people you speak the same language as.

Half the millennials I've worked with complained about things constantly, smoked weed, did nothing with the free time, and were emotional as hell. They make memes about the "7 yr old iPad kid", but they're literally the same.

i don't need that
i'm just disappointed that my generation grew up to be this way. i thought when millenials were 50+ the media and government would finally be better but now i realize it's only going to get worse

What did you mean by this
>>
>>84023276
You called Joss Whedon writing millennial writing.
Which is wrong.
Maybe you were wrong for a reason other than thinking millennials being around when Buffy the Vampire Slayer was on TV meant millennials invented that humor. But either way you're still wrong about it because you're calling Joss Whedon humor millennial humor and Joss Whedon is so old he doesn't even make the cutoff to being Gen X let alone millennial.
>>
Joss and Buffy are Gen X, not millennials. Gen X were very good to us millennials - they gave us lots of music and media.
>>
>>84023281
Would have been better if Gen x pushed back on the boomer shit
>>
>>84023278
If you can't understand then i don't know what to tell you. I've explained myself well i think and any further misunderstandings are your problem and probably intentional.

>>
>>84023280

It is. If you can't recognize the pattern then pay more attention. Or don't.

>>
>>84023229
Buffy is a solid 9/10 series, in my opinion, but the flattest humor in Buffy was always the -age suffix jokes (time for some slayage, Xander. Let's get on with the girl talkage, Willow. Hey Spike, could you tone the rapeage vibe down a little?)
>>
>>84023298
I am just pointing out what a whiny bitch you are
>waahhhhh
>>
>>84023310
True i'm whining but i'm not wrong.
>>
>>84023303
I don't mind Joss Whedon humor.
I just want people to stop calling Joss Whedon humor millennial humor.
The vast majority of Joss Whedon humor is either Joss Whedon himself or other young baby boomers or Gen X writers.
I can't think of any famous millennial writers who write like that.
>>
>>84023301
we were all betrayed by boomers, but, back when millennials were young it was a different culture. and to be honest, other than the inflation, things aint so bad now. the trick is to enjoy the moment.

like - the world exposed a pedophile ring at the highest levels of wealth, kind of huge and world changing. and gen z not giving a fuck about jingoism and signing up for the military is also world changing.

when millennials were young, post 9-11 and enlisting was popular.
>>
>>84023280
Are you retarded? Do you think cultural tropes just emerge from the future collective memory of that generation with no input from the previous ones? Do you think a 15 year old wrote the Minecraft movie? Jesus Christ.
>>
>>84023149
What? It's the exact opposite. It's people who look 65 but feel 25.
>>
>>84023316

>>
>>84023321
Yeah but if boomers aren't put on a rocket to the sun there is no justice.
>>
>>84023318
I can't think of any famous millennial writers
Because they're bad.
>who write like that.
Every movie by/for our generation
>>
>>84023337
Kek.
I feel like the whole Gen Y vs Gen Z thing is just a distraction to keep us from retaking the wealth that the boomers have clung to
>>
>>84023337
just wait them out, young gen z. bide your time. start taking care of your health early and maintain it like a prized vehicle.
>>
>>84023332
Fair too. Some shitposting is appropriate for a whiner.
>>
>>84023149
Millennials are no longer young and they were always cringe. Scene kids, bacon obsession, hipsters, indie folk, pitchfork, decibel, the list goes on.
>>
>>84023322
>>84023341
>can't name a single famous millennial writer who does Joss Whedon writing
Exactly, because it's Joss Whedon writing. It's not millennial writing. Zoomers just started calling Joss Whedon writing millennial writing one day because they can't tell the difference between any of the people older than they are.
>>
>>84023318
Buffy had some very funny moments. Pic related was best girl.
>>
>>84023353
we're not young, we are middle aged. which seems like a boomer to gen z.
>>
>>84023354
I have never actually heard anyone outside of this thread conflate Whedon's writing with "millennial humor", btw.
>>
>>84023149
>How did millennials become cringe boomers so fast?
I can't wait for an excuse to yell at clouds, personally.
>>
>>84023368
I see it constantly because it's the only thing anyone ever refers to as "millennial humor."
>did that just happen!?
and
>they're behind me aren't they?
Are some of the most stereotypically Whedon lines possible.
Also you can just google millennial writing Joss Whedon and find many people talking about it since that's the obvious real thing people mean when they use terms like millennial writing or millennial humor.
Nobody can ever name an actual famous millennial writer that does that stuff. It's all Joss Whedon.
>>
>>84023378
JD Vance is a millennial writer, there you go.
>>
>>84023162
The only reason millennial humor is cringeworthy instead of cheesy and endearing is because of all the loser millennials that flooded reddit and turned these cliches into an obnoxious speech mannerism that accompanied their condescending remarks and explanations of why their dead bedroom was super wholesome actually.

So as always it's retards ruining funny things for the rest of us. I love "he's right behind me isn't he" and so do my early to mid twenties peers.
>>
Can a generation have a specific writing style? Does JD Salinger write in the same style has Truman Capote? Idk.

the irony of this image is that brad pitt is a boomer, cucklennials everyone...
>>
>>84023459
the context of "millennial writing" means television, movies, books, music - generally means published works and not shitposts on the internet.

i cant believe that i had to explain this to you.
>>
>>84023459
It's actually young Baby Boomers and old Gen Xers mostly. And pretty much no real millennials involved.
Closest thing to a famous millennial writer I can think of is Pendleton Ward with Adventure Time, which doesn't really sound like what people refer to as "millennial writing."
>>
>>84023488

more millennicore. we millennials were the "happy go lucky" generation when we were young, but we were just slowly corrupted over time by disappointment.

>>84023565
i think that guy you're posting at is just brain damaged.
>>
we're not those millenial liberals right?
>>
>>84023579
look at that video - like i said, we millennials were young during a different time, with a positive vibe and wholesome-esque culture before we got radicalized by social engineering during obama and then trump.
>>
>>84023595
the real pill is realizing that both libs and repubtards are shit, corrupt, part of the same elites community, and that both liberal and conservative viewpoints have merits and flaws, but the whole political system is run by the same pedophile elites
>>
>>84023605
thank you right wing bot you are very based
>>
>>84023597
Millennials mostly didn't get radicalized during Obama and Trump since nothing happened under Obama (Occupy Wall Street wasn't ever a serious protest despite all the retroactive conspiracy theories bout it) and we were already mostly in our late 20s or 30s by the time Donald Trump was President.
Some of us had to start our careers around when the 2008 subprime lending crisis happened but that wasn't that big of a deal and really started at the end of George W. Bush's Administration.
Most millennials I'm familiar with are just normal people with jobs, with more single and childless people than previous generations. I don't know of any radicalized millennials except maybe Elliot Rodger who's dead obviously.
>>
>>84023160
a 22 yr old thought i was 24 the other day (im 32)

im skinny though
>>
>>84023597

Oh yeah, also Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were oldest of millennials (and also dead obviously).
>>
>>84023614
the radicalization was well underway during obama. it just trickled out into the mainstream much later. we knew about those pedophile pizza parties way before anyone else. just recently the mainstream has caught up to that and epstein
>>
>>84023625

millennials are the happy go lucky generation that got poisoned by disappointment and radicalization. millennial music is out there, but its actually relatively niche.
>>
>>84023557
see, your post is an example of a stereotypical millennial
a snide remark with no substance, "you do you my guy guhuh"
>>84023565
all these terms became popular or re-emerged in the early 2010s, when millennials were the most vocal on the internet crying about boomers and being broke
I really have no idea how to talk to people who feign ignorance, because you know that I know and I know that you know that I know and yet you're still acting like a faggot
>>
>>84023614
>Occupy Wall Street wasn't ever a serious protest despite all the retroactive conspiracy theories bout it
Yes it was and the response was the injection of identity politics. You can point to the start of it in that movement when a black woman followed one of the white speakers on stage and immediately stated that there was not enough black female representation in the movement and that black females were most affected by everything so should receive unique attention. Everybody thought it was crazy and waited for somebody else to call it out. But they were more afraid of being called a racist than the billions of dollars they were standing up against.
>hen the 2008 subprime lending crisis happened but that wasn't that big of a deal
Nigger the banks took peoples homes they had no right to, people who had mortgages with completely unrelated lenders. It was an absolute free-for-all on seizing assets from the public with fabricated, or sometimes no, documents. To prevent, what they thought, was their own collapse.
>started at the end of George W. Bush's Administration.
The crash started at the end of the Bush admin but it was brewing for decades before. And the first thing Obama did was formalize Fink as the de-facto fourth branch of the government and offer bail outs on the grounds that the criminal enterprises were "too big to fail."
Following this, we see the explosion of identity politics and subversion of merit-based systems. The purpose, though this is a tinfoil take, for Larry Fink & co to buy the dips when these companies inevitably tanked due to inefficient hiring practices and failure to deliver products. It's worked very well.
>>
>>84023662

the 90s invented the whole "girls are always smarter than boys" and also "girls hate love and affection" and also "everyone needs a token black friend or else you're racist." This describes literally every single movie and tv show for children.
>>
>>84023222
You have no idea how bad the 7 year old ipad kid is to say something like that lol
>>
>>84024139
Girls being smarter than boys was meant as a joke. Everyone understood girls aren't smart so pretending they were smart was a way to avoid punching down.
I feel like a lot of these unstated rules made perfect sense at the time but people gradually lost the ability to read between the lines like that.
>>
>>84024139
>"girls hate love and affection"
Not that one, but the other two is true.
>>
>>84024153
The concept of punching down only existed at the tail end of millenials, it's meant for zoomzooms. Millenials did not have that crap. Women being smarter was """supported""" by retarded psych papers (heavily disproven) using garbage evaluation metrics (notably things like achievements over actual standardized testing or brain scans). It was heavily pushed everywhere: men are strong and brave, women are smart and fragile. Thus, together, we are whole. Equal but different. That is how it used to be portrayed.
>>
>>84024015
We got into a massive crisis when we graduated highschool, another when we graduated college, another a few years later, and our boomer parents forced us to get out and live alone (i.e. in homeless shelters) since we were 18.
Nobody else has gone through so many perfectly timed crises. Furthermore, 2 of those 3 crises dwarfed those from before, and we have yet to recover from either of the latter two which have completely fucked the housing market and the job market, two critical components for young people to grow up and become independent and start families.
Not to mention all the political shit that has happened. 9/11 anyone?
