One thing left uncommented on by much of polite society is just how decayed the population is, both mentally and physically. You can see it walking down the street; it's become aggressively visible. The 'shamblers'. The people who just from glancing at them you know something is 'up' with them. Obese waddlers, crook-necked hunchbacks, mongs in scamborghinis taking up the pavement with shirts riding up their distended bellies, mystery meat millers with unkempt facial hair and weird eyes that stare too long, people hacking and wheezing and spluttering, birdnest hair women pushing empty prams, stick figure octogenarians dressed in hand-me-downs three sizes too big. You know the lot.

Then you speak to them and holy fucking shit it's even worse. Slurred words, adults with pauses you'd expect from a child, dribblers, people whose stench at proximity precludes conversation, Jim Trott levels of impediments, ramblers who think you're there to entertain them for half an hour, dossers who feel the need to give you their 'story' for why they aren't in work.

Me? Making my onions-three-ways hotdogs for dinner. Sausages in the oven until lovely and brown, basic hotdog buns and then buckets of onions cooked three different ways: lightly fried, caramelised and crispy. The lightly fried onions are cut thin but long, still retain their curved shape, cook in a pan until translucent, place on the sausage as the first layer, then dollop on the caramelised onions as a jammy sticky layer which then holds the final sprinkling of crispy fried onions.

Fucking LUSH.

Not related but I had strep throat last year and it was very painful gave me a fever as well. I used antibiotic throat sprays, lozenges and a salt water throat gargle. I went to my GP and they gave me some antibiotics and it cleared up in a week. Is there anything they can give you for it? I used this and it helped.
>>
>>84456501
I haven't been diagnosed with it, that person just told me as a precaution since I have what appears to be a cold right now with sore throat and runny nose (no other symptoms). No fever, no headache, no membrane in throat, no blood from nose, no fatigue. I'll go to the pharmacist/GP if things deteriorate but I feel like I'm steadily getting better right now. Just really do not want it to be actually diphtheria because it would be a fucking ballache.

I'm actually the lad that was complaining about getting ulcers every time I get sick and yeah I keep a stock of throat numbing spray in the house at all times. At the moment I'm just treating things with paracetamol and ibuprofen on tap.

Will see, if it turns out to actually be diphtheria I'll post and let you lads know. If it is I'll need antitoxin and antibiotics.

This is an absurd question, as if anyone could possibly know what it's like to think like a man or think like a woman. What would it mean beyond aggregate general predictors in group psychology? Moreover, if someone is born a biological man, what does it mean that they claim to think like a woman? Is that even possible? People have this weird conception that humans are not bound by the limits of their biology and that human beings are these canisters for souls that simply float around in the ether until they're born and sometimes whoopsie the soul gets stuck in the 'wrong' body. Just made up rubbish desu.

The guns only come out in Britain when they're dealing with serious terrorist threats (ie: threats to their own power structure), not when they're defending the lives of civilians. Seems backwards, doesn't it?
>>
>>84457723
You're talking to a man who has scrounged his way through life for 30 years still has all the confidence in the world telling people how to do their job and how society should be ran
>>
>>84457736
So explain why Police shouldn't carry guns.
It's all rooted in some antiquated notion of them "policing through consent", which isn't true anyway.
>>
If the British public had the police we consented to, it would exclusively be Gene Hunt style hard men, and we would also have hanging.
>>
Made a very nice pulled pork sandwich just now, fr fr.
>>
>>84457744
NTA, I think police probably should have firearms, but then again I also think that the general public shouldn't be restricted in owning firearms, offset with that I think convicted criminals, the mentally unstable and other obvious undesirables shouldn't be allowed them and any crimes involving firearms should by default get you life in prison.

I just think that the whole paradigm we have in this country around personal freedoms, rights to self-defence, the nature of policing etc. need to be revised for the current situation we find ourselves in. You're right, the idea that we can police by consent in the YooKay in 2026 is a fucking joke, not the least of which because we have entire swathes of the population over here that doesn't even consider themselves British and thinks that the institution of the British police is illegitimate by definition.
>>
>>84457723
tbqh i fully understand and sympathise with them. and i don't think they should be infallible robots or something. we're going to miss basic human discretion the more and more AI takes over.

we're lads on the internet armchair-analysing a video after the fact. the stabbing itself was sudden and brutal, horrible stuff, no question there.
good American cops (whatever kit they're carrying) would calmly but assertively say something like:
>sir, i need you to put the knife down.
this bloke was screaming:
>DROPTHEFUCKINGKNIFE!!!
like an angry child.

i've never been a crazed knifeman, but i think i know which i'd respond better to.

>personal freedoms, rights to self-defence, the nature of policing etc. need to be revised for the current situation we find ourselves in.

i don't have as firm an idea as you do (i just don't) and that scares me a bit tbqh. obvs anyone can become TOO para: e.g. there 3x as many car accident fatalities as there are homicides. if you open up the actual ONS spreadsheets not that many people are killing each other with zombie knives, but they always make the headlines.

but you are right. and we don't know how much worse things can be, i certainly didn't anticipate the streets of Britain as they are in current-year. all i carry is a (UK-legal) self-defence spray. fact is, someone could very easily jump me. i could get fit and take classes, but then TWO people could very easily jump me.

No. Anyone can buy it and wear it. It's just the "invisible disability" sign, so people might treat you nicer if you wear it (e.g. in shops, airports).

The only time I wore mine was during Covid. It was pure hell with the masks. All supermarkets hired security guards on all the doors, and one time I got tackled to the ground. these posters in Tesco are how i found out about the sunflowers tbqh. couldn't decide if it was a good idea or not. i'm sure the staff had a 2-hour training session or something, but surely you're singling yourself out?

then along came Covid and anyone realised they could just take advantage of an 'in good faith' scheme. and now more and more people know if you have the lanyard, it means you're a sp*cker (the bullies' word, not mine.)

Because I wasn't wearing a mask. The security guard over-reacted massively and physically assaulted a customer.

Those 2 years 2020-2021 were insane. I think most people don't remember it or have memory holed it. Everyone went insane for a while.

There were old ladies being arrested for sitting on a bench by themselves, police tape and padlocks across parks and benches to stop people walking in them, people standing by themselves fishing on a beach were arrested by police, and police using drones and helicopters to find solo hikers. Even drivers were stopped in some areas and asked "why are you driving, you should stay at home" when they're in the car by themselves.

The vast majority of people went along with what was basically a digital ID in an app to confirm where you were allowed to go. People's relatives died alone, disallowed access, or waving at each other through glass.

TV channels still produced panel shows but positioned the participants slightly further apart, as if it wasn't obvious that they had been in close contact backstage, with make up artists and they probably all were chatting beforehand. Politicians were often seen standing without a mask at the side and then putting it on before they walk up to the podium (alone) to put on a show. It was all fake, and 95% of people went along with it.

yeah if it wasn't a date i'd have just snuck something in. felt guilty since he offered to pay like we were doing rounds, so i sort of just doubled-up on 'his' bottle for me + a secret bottle for myself when i went back 'for pork scratchings'. clever alky trick, you'd be surprised.

yeah that's the impression i get. i'm here defending cinemas because going to see a film is fun, and it IS a different experience on the big screen.
unless an arcade game is specifically, say, DDR or Time Crisis, you can just play games at home.

>I'm living in a very NEET time of life soon to be kinda.

>>
>>84460238
Similar I guess. In 2014 I naively discovered the concept of FIRE. Began building wealth very slowly.

Then COVID and inflation and multiple instances of economic destruction happened.

I'm still ahead, but... I ran the numbers and what I thought was possible in 2014 is now delusional. I will never retire. I will work to my 70s. The goalpost will just keep moving.

All the money I invested is worth about 50% more compared to 10 years ago, so it WAS worthwhile. I have tens of thousands of gains, but its not enough to retire on, because the cost of living keeps going up and the currency is continually devalued and salaries keep stagnating, and the tax personal allowance has been frozen for years (forever?), which means I continually pay more tax and earn less every single fucking year, with no benefit to me, I just continue to fund the invaders more.
>>
>>84460397
Eh, learning to spend money more wisely will do me some good anyway.
I kinda crashed and burned innit. Health issues. I can't be NEET forever though, I don't even really want to be a NEET at all. But it's just the next stage, for a bit. Unless I end up just never getting offered another job and then I'd be kinda cooked.

Hmm I was never into the old wrugs myself. I think past a certain age if you haven't had them before it would be weird to try them. Would be like a total cringelarp for me to start now.

skill for life innit. even if you end up rich.

if things get BAD bad, strongly recommend Food & Solidarity in the West End (you don't have to agree with their politics, just fill out a Google Form of food preferences and pick them up). or Kingdom Life Church in Heaton (costs money, but one fiver and you get 12 'points' of items, used to be way better tbqh).

actual Foodbanks, i think you still need a voucher and it's probably quicker to talk to a social prescriber at your GP surgery than it is to go to Citizens Advice in the library because that's just how the world is nowadays.

>I think past a certain age if you haven't had them before it would be weird to try them. Would be like a total cringelarp for me to start now.

maybe. but i was 100% overly worried about being 'cringe' as a teenager, and i missed out on actual fun life experiences because i had such a stick up my arse. this website infects your brain but, i dunno, we're all still playing vidya and possibly watching anime. it's BEEn a while but i remember reading The Metamorphosis and thinking it was actually pretty straightforward. for context i have complained about David Lynch films on /britfeel/ approximately 500 times.

maybe Kafka's other stories are all weird but i read the bug one and it's just about a guy who was turned into a bug. the prose is very clear. it's not some confusing postmodern waffle like a Pynchon or a Mieville. just sit and read it like it's a Poe or a Lovecraft, and you'll have a good time.

of course it's 'about something' but that's what solid spooky stories are like. is The Yellow Wallpaper about a lady going crazy because of some yellow wallpaper, or is it the author blogging about her postpartum depression? is The Picture of Dorian Gray about a man with a magic painting that keeps him young, or is it the author crying that homosexuals have a hard time dealing with ageing? the answer to all these questions is 'yes'.

everyone has their own line with this stuff. for me, the rule is if you want a 'deeper' meaning it has to work on a 'surface' level, too. you can't write nonsense prose or do wacky filmmaking techniques than go, 'ah, you see, it's experimental! i'm an artiste! but i promise it has deeper themes you missed!'
IMO, that's when it becomes meaningless drivel. and if there's one thing i know, it's meaningless drivel.

sleep-deprived, so apologies if i'm not reading this correctly:

she fancied you, you secretly fancied her back, but you were too scared so you self-jeopardised? now you want to be pals with her?

how long has it been?
>>
>>84462518
Do you not speak to her anymore?
>>84462530
We both fancied each other, became good friends, then she invited me back to her house. I was sort of confused, didn't know if it was a date, or just after work stuff as it was 2 mornings after our night shifts. First time it happened, I'd apologised, and said I was confused and asked her to let me take her out when it wasn't after work or anything. Then the 2nd time it happened I just got in my head and was thinking how could she like me? Then because I was mad at myself I went quiet and seething, and I think she thought I was mad at her, then I was getting shit from people at work, and got into it with one of the pakis, then my manager told me about the weekday wagies wanting people on their shift, mo money less problems so I switched. But then was too tiring for me, plus getting some shit from some polish people (the girl was polish), so when I heard the weekend lot needed help, and I could keep getting weekday wages (moar) I went back. But it was on the opposite shift to my old one with her on it. Again I got a bit of shit and laughed at by some polish people,
But then luckily I had enough and left.
This was in 2013-2015, but saw her again last year, and she basically ran away from me. I was crossing the road, saw her on the other side, looked both ways when crossing the road (green cross code), then when I looked at where she was I saw her speed walking up the path.
I don't want to be friends, I couldn't be friends, but I do want to apologise and let her know it was all on me, nothing to do with her.
Fugg, that's a lot of emotional bollocks right there. Sorry for the blog.

And neither are houses in a strict sense, people just really really really prefer to live in houses than, say, tents. But the idea that housing doesn't conform to supply and demand is absurd.

If you have 100 houses and 50 people who want houses obviously the house sellers will need to make their property more attractive to get buyers, this includes things like lowering the price or improving the quality (thus lowering price to quality ratio).

If you have 100 houses and 200 people who want houses, obviously the sellers can keep driving up the price because the people who want the houses will be bidding against each other for a limited supply.

Supply relative to demand. It's not rocket science.

There is a spectrum where you can tell some people would have tried harder if they were born in different circumstances then certain others who would go on the scrounge no matter what. Every waking moment consumed by the scrounge dreaming up new ways to scrounge other peoples dosh. That level of entitlement is grim and creepy.

Don't you still speak to one mate? Wasn't long ago you were going out to meet mate A?
It's more than that with her, but I get what you're saying. I've put this take on it myself, it's also quite selfish to want to see her, as I want this, and I want that. Maybe she doesn't, and like you say she processed it and moved on.
I don't know if I'll be able to stop being mean to myself desu, it's even in my dreams now, I fight for my life nightly, but it's not scary. The things I dream of should be nightmare tier, but I just wake up and think, huh, then do my thing.
I'm working on taking less drugs, then might give some therapy a go (I'm too honest with people, so tell them I smoke weed, and then get told BUGGER OFF WE'RE FULL!). Was waiting years for a psyche eval, but when I swapped dr's, I told the new dr about smoking weed, and then I was kicked off the waiting list, and all therapy options gone (there's self referral bollocks).

Me? I got turned down for PIP, MS isn't bad enough yet, I can walk 500m unaided and don't need to rest, so I'm good to go. Can't do it daily, but that doesn't matter. Struggle chopping food at times, but as there's been no hospital visit for it, I'm good to go. Have some cognitive issues, but because I can plan a journey I'm good to go. Mobility issues slowing me down and with the incontinence I don't make it at times, but because I can clean myself after I'm good to go.
Mental how so many people can scam them. Wish I could lie about it, but unfortunately I can not.

your positive can do attitude is why you didnt get the benefits you deserve, they dont want to pay you they want you to pay tax, everything is a fight you have to make them giving you the money easier than refusing you and you do this by being selfish pushy and obnoxious
>>
>>84462964
No lad. I have anxiety. It's not possible to work for a living when you have anxiety.
>>
>>84462967
Probably. Same with pain meds, I can get them, the dr wants me to take them, but I don't want to take them so I don't take them. But they put that as not needing pain relief.
I am selfish, but can't be pushy and obnoxious, it's just not me.
>>
>>84462964
Yes, I just need to get my issues under control. They've spiralled badly over the past 5-2.5 years but I put that down to being overly stressed which has exacerbated my problems. I don't feel any better now, but it just takes time you know?
>>
I've got agoraphobia which prevents me from working, not because I don't want to it's just that I literally cannot leave my house to go work somewhere. My agoraphobia kicks in too hard even after a couple minutes out of the house and it nearly paralyses me. I need benefits to survive, otherwise I'd almost certainly be dead right now.

Brings on feelings of panic which then translates to physical symptoms - high heart rate, sweating, shaking limbs, difficulty concentrating, ringing in ears. Horrid to get it.
>>
>>84463095
Agoraphobia is just an anxiety disorder its not rocket science to treat it's not like this voodoo mystery curse you're making it out as. You're talking as if you're writing a DWP form.
>>
>>84463138
Yeah, you're right, and I've been to doctors before to try and get it resolved and nothing they've tried has worked. I've tried a laundry list of medication and they either don't work, or do technically work but only because they basically make me comatose. The DWP has been sympathetic to me thank god.

Yeah because your life consists of staring at 4 walls sitting on your arse getting fat which for a man is soul destroying. It's not a big mystery why you would feel depressed and anxious. Not everything is woowoo "brain chemicals" it might play a part but feeling useless as a man is a bad state to be in no matter how much you want to cope
>>
I have mental health and the only cure is dole. I must scrounge.
>>
i have a fever and the only cure is more cowbell
>>
>>84463175
It's not just useless but as a man being completely dependent on other men to survive is the nail in the coffin of any man's self esteem its totally emasculating. You don't have to be fully aware of why this is it will still eat away at you speaking from experience.
>>
>>84463163
>So aka you just applied at random to 3 vacancies no luck took that as your excuse to scrounge for the rest of your days.
Wrong, I still apply to jobs quite regularly, but what can I do? Wfh jobs are typically for quite specialised professionals with experience. I've never had a job that wasn't retail. I try, but why would anyone hire me?
>>84463175
I'm not fat, I'm quite skinny actually.
>It's not a big mystery why you would feel depressed and anxious. Not everything is woowoo "brain chemicals" it might play a part but feeling useless as a man is a bad state to be in no matter how much you want to cope
I'm not saying it's a big mystery, I'm just pointing out that benefits are my lifeline and without them I'd be fucked. I don't like my life, but I also don't want to be a destitute homeless person on death's door.
>>
After first seeing the supply v demand graph in A level Econ many years ago i pointed out to the teacher that this ensured there would always be people without.
He looked at me as if i'd just taken a fat shit covering the square mile.
>>
>>84463207
How long have you been agoraphobic?
>>
>>84463211
The curve itself doesn't ensure anything, it's merely a descriptor of a real world phenomenon that we observe when we look at how unimpeded markets work.
>>
>>84463226
It developed during university and then kicked into full whack like it is now when I left. That was three years ago.
>>
>>84463239
Fair, my problem was that i didn't trust adults as my mother was schizo and a compulsive liar when proved wrong and my step father was a psychotic Jew. I did run away at 12 but got dragged back to experience more suffering and abuse. My psychiatrist tried to convince me nice adults existed but i was already broken.
>>
>>84463211
That's a classic beginner mistake with the supply-demand model, and your teacher's reaction makes sense because it shows you missed what the graph is actually showing.
The graph isn't a snapshot of a fixed moment where some people are permanently locked out. It's a model of how the market equilibrates. At the equilibrium price, quantity supplied equals quantity demanded- meaning everyone who is willing and able to pay the market price gets the good, and suppliers are willing to provide exactly that amount.
If there's a 'shortage' (demand > supply at a given price), that usually means the price is being held below equilibrium (rent control, price caps, subsidies, etc.). The graph doesn't 'ensure people go without' - it shows that artificially low prices create shortages. When prices are free to adjust upward, the shortage disappears as higher prices ration the good to those who value it most (and incentivize more supply).
The same logic works in reverse for surpluses.
Your point would only hold if prices were somehow banned from changing, or if supply was magically fixed forever no matter the price. But that's not what the standard supply-demand graph assumes. It's showing the opposite: markets clear through price signals. The 'people without' you're seeing at non-equilibrium prices is exactly why prices rise - to eliminate the shortage.
Confusing 'at this artificially low price, not everyone can get it' with 'the market ensures some people always lose' is mixing up cause and effect. It's like looking at a traffic jam caused by a broken traffic light and concluding 'roads ensure some people never get home'.

Police pay and benefits are incredibly high. Flat pay outpaces average LSE and Oxford graduate pay at five years (LSE: 55,500; Oxford: 46,000; police officer: 59,994). Their pension scheme is also incredible and is analogous to an average earner saving 60%(!) of their salary.

Yet they're universally regarded as some of the worst, most incompetent, most corrupt and ideologically motivated police forces in the Western world.
