On the contrary, a lot of people have dementia in their thirties. Think of 0.33l vs 0.5l cans. That's the difference between 900ccm and 1500ccm. It's much less than you would think because the volume increases with the cube of the length. Look at some of the indians, who had normal to high brain volume, the head just seems a bit larger, or some of the ancient skulls with huge brain volume.
>>
>>16089274
*990 ccm
>>
>>16089274
>Think of 0.33l vs 0.5l cans. That's the difference between 990ccm and 1500ccm.
A cubic centimetre is equivalent to a millilitre. There's a 170ml difference between 330ml and 500ml cans. The difference between 990ccm and 1500ccm is equivalent to 510ml.
The generalised formula for human brain volume is 182.3 + 0.7 × cranial capacity. Applying this to 990+ 1500 cranial capacity yields 875.3 and 1232.3 respectively, a difference in brain volume of 375ccm, or slightly more than double the difference in volume between a 330ml and 500ml can.

I cant' see the shape of their skulls because of the angle relative to the camera and their hair. Why are you being so obtuse? It's patently evident that there is a correlation between skull and brain volume. See: microcephaly.

>>
>>16089314
>I'm proving you wrong.
Assertions are not proofs.
>It's patently evident that there isn't.
There are population-level differences in average cranial capacity between the three major racial groupings. Africans are around 1280ccm, European/Caucasian around 1340ccm and Oriental asians around 1370ccm.

The first one wasn't me, but you're smoking crack if you think microcephalic people don't have small brains - that's WHY they are microcephalic, their brain didn't grow as large as it was supposed to.
How can someone with a cranial capacity of 700ccm have the same size of brain as someone with 1300ccm?
>>
>>16089381
It seems you keep forgetting what you're arguing. I'm saying that you can't tell people's brain volume from the skull shape alone. You can't even make a reasonably accurate estimation.
>>
>>16089006
No, it's because he has a round skull. Take a birds-eye photo of his head, and it evens out.
>>
>>16089409
>I'm saying that you can't tell people's brain volume from the skull shape alone.
Good for you, I never claimed you could tell their brain volume, I contested the notion that there was no correlation.
There is a correlation between blood pressure and BMI - doesn't mean you can tell someone's weight from looking at their systolic/diastolic pressure, and you can't tell their blood pressure just from seeing a picture of them. But the correlation is still real.
>>
>>16078606
Nutritional deficits. That's pretty much it.

1. Much better screening and imaging. 20 years ago, getting an MRI of your brain cost $4,000. Today it's only $1,000. Also, the $4k MRI would need to be seen by a Neurologist to make any real use of it. Today, better information systems, catalogs and training allows regular Doctors to diagnose a wider array of neurological disorders, while also giving Neurologists much more power to create an effective treatment.

2. Society becoming much worse causing increased stress, which causes brain problems long term. Declining social trust and declining real life social interactions harms the individual person's ability to maintain their own sanity. This often starts in early childhood and continues well through adulthood especially if both parents work.

3. Increased drug use. Weed is now legal in most of the west, and long term weed use messes up your nervous system bad especially anything with high THC content. With cannabis products replacing tobacco, neurological problems are becoming a larger fraction of all mental problems. Then there is the fentanyl crisis, even though most fent/meth addicts don't make it to 50 their ride down is still statistically significant. For older people, prescription opioids hurts their nervous systems permanently and they don't realize it's permanent until much later after they are given a dementia diagnosis.
>>
>>16081820

>The symptoms are getting normalized

No they aren't, at least not in any normal place. McDonalds will not hire you if you can't remember what time your shift starts at or where their spill kit is. Dementia victims can't do either of these things reliably. You cannot operate a truck in the US if you cannot reliably remember where you are. Office jobs rely even more on memorization.

>and the sufferers are getting protected from their "abusers", who get hounded, but it's them who stir up conflicts because of their failing memory, and they either don't remember, or remember something that didn't happen.

This doesn't make sense, can you explain this more clearly?
>>
>>16100566
There's a lot between good memory and full blown dementia, and that kind of memory tends to last longer.
>This doesn't make sense, can you explain this more clearly?
The person doesn't remember things correctly, which causes conflicts with others. It isn't necessarily obvious who is the liar, and who tells the truth.

>>
>>16113357
Even the reasoning is the same, when the phrenological judgment is at odds with observed reality: A smart looking dog that is actually dumb, is said to be "extremely intelligent, but you need to train and motivate him very hard", while a dumb looking dog that is actually big brained is described as "not smart, but excellent instinct".

>Why is the name of this controversial bean censored here?
Because several years ago when the bearded open mouth pictures started gaining notoriety, people could not stop spamming basedboy. As with many other words that kept getting spammed over and over, it was filtered so that spanners would end up saying something humorous. A few other filters were started around the same time like desu and senpai.
Longtime users quickly figure out what people are actually saying, so it in no ways censors or confuses them. Extreme newfags get confused when their posts change, which gives everyone else a good chuckle.
The caboose-clobbered newfags however, get pissy and try to circumvent it because they can't stand not using the spam word.
And now it seems that morons are retroactively applying conspiracy theories to a word filter which existed before they started even discussing the topic that's supposedly being censored.

Is treated with dopamin agonists just like ADHD. Dopamin is naturally produced by gut bacteria. Gut health and gut flora is suffering tremendously in the west from rationalized food production and non-traditional diets.
Serotonin is also produced by gut bacteria and the trend in use of antidepressants is just as clear.
Celiac (coeliac) disease is primarily a neurological disorder because of this, as the gut is destroyed until stomach issues become the cause for diagnosis.
At least one cause of the nerve system disorder Multiple Sclerosis is infection by EBV with gluten intolerance. IIRC the immune system is overloaded by reaction to gluten and this let's dormant EBV resurface and spread throughout the nervous system.

i was first reccomended sumatriptan and verapamil from general physician, didnt take after the first week, verapamil lowering my heart rate didnt do anything.
neurologist reccomended my trio that gives more serotonin for what he can prescribe, and two others stops pain recepters from acting up as badly, these are working. expressing some caution by observing my own experiences and researching how the drug works, before i take it and learning more after. the moment there is side effect its not worth doing anymore.
pharmaceutical drugs have bad reputation, but not looking for help before, and cycling through different solutions social and health wise has done nothing.

nah theyre not addicting. you act like theres suppose to be side effects for every person whereas, for me, before it was constant headaches. this doesnt turn you into a zombie like fentanyl does or make people insane. none of these medicines for migraines ive taken are classified as narcotics or opiods. some people have problems that benefit from medicine, but it doesnt mean it works for everyone. If it is addicting i will be waiting for it to take a toll, since the end of last year nothing bad has happened with a triptan+preventative antideppressant.
the gepant is also newer medication for migraines, no side effects since taking, and better less headpains.

i gotta use toothpaste tho. I have gum recession (genetic) and basically one of my teeth just doesnt have enamel on it really, and if i dont brush my teeth and allow sugar/plaque to build up (aka if i skip brushing my teeth once) they'll just start to hurt. I havent been able to break into a "real" job yet so i havent had the chance to have dental and get it fixed. The ONLY toothpaste that works is the most basic, plain, barebones anti cavity toothpaste. Dairy or oil seems to help when my teeth get "dried out" so to speak

OP asks "What's this all about?"

You have to look at the study to see what they are claiming for their statistical claim as "top cause of illness" They are using things like DALYs=disability-adjusted life-years, YLDs=years lived with disability, YLLs=years of life lost for their calculations. That's not the same thing as what people complain about in their daily lives as illness, nor what illness causes them to go to the doctor. It is just another manufactured consensus to drive their agenda.

Lack of critical thinking ability is especially common in the "trust the soience" crowd, their lack of critical thinking ability is what drives them to blindly trust the soience. The overwhelming majority of people are too dumb to wonder about things like "gee I wonder whats in this pill I'm about to swallow", thats why placebos work so well.

Not him but it is well understood that excess flouride is neurotoxic, you can search for the studies easily. You are not supposed to use flouridated water for infant formula because there is no ambiguity about it. It probably doesn't matter for adults but it does matter for children, and the amounts added to drinking water in addition to toothpaste and the amounts found naturally in food easily breach the threshold. Neighbor friend I knew growing up had streaks on his teeth caused by excess flouride, it's not a stretch to think he was getting too much. He ended up a huge heroin addict with brain damage.
What I don't understand is why dentists act like we need the flouride water so desperately when only homeless people that weren't using toothpaste at all get any benefit from it.

I've been dealing with some fucked up neurological symptoms after getting sick (not Covid) in Jan 2023 and again in August (not Covid). I was vaxxed 2x as soon as Moderna became available, not sure if related.

I've seen about a dozen Neurologists, have had countless blood tests, MRI, NCS, EMG, etc... nothing conclusive.

Among other things I have:

Small Fiber Neuropathy
CTS
Vestibular Migraines
Perioral Paresthesia
Muscle Twitching
Fibromyalgia (MS Hug)

Currently taking:

Pregabalin
Atogepant
Curcumin
Alpha Lipoic Acid (megadosing)
Ferritin (megadosing)

but still dealing with some of the symptoms.

Give me evidence that statins are bad for you. I've seen absolutely none.
Anticholinergics like most allergy meds have largely been proven to cause long-term nervous system and brain damage, but I can't think of many others in modern practice that definitively do. Statins are some of the safest drugs you can take.

>It is clear that statins don't wipe people out in vast numbers. But they can have adverse effects, some of which are very severe, including a significant increase in type 2 diabetes. Cerivastatin was pulled from the market for causing a significant rise in rhabdomyolysis – disintegration of muscles, often followed by death. Atorvastatin, otherwise known as Lipitor – the statin top of Nice's list of recommendations – has never been demonstrated to increase life expectancy. So, taking the drug may change what is written on your death certificate, but it will not alter the date

I'm sure that has nothing to do with the average american being 30 lbs heavier now than when statins were developed. Some guy with a degree said the correlation was causation so it must be true, right?

>I'm sure that has nothing to do with the average american being 30 lbs heavier now than when statins were developed
It was a Dutch population study on over 8000 statin users who did not have diabetes at baseline, and the reported risk increase is after adjusting for confounding factors.
>The prospective population-based Rotterdam Study included 8 567 participants without diabetes at baseline and a follow-up for 15 years (42). Statin treatment increased the risk of incident T2D by 38% after the adjustment for confounding factors.
>Some guy with a degree said the correlation was causation so it must be true, right?
Sometimes correlation DOES indicate causation. Tobacco use & cancer, alcohol use & liver disease, contact sports & brain disease, etc.
