how come the ice age predicted by scientist 50 years ago never materialized?

Geologist here.

Back in the 1950s there were two competing ideas in Atmospheric Science about the future direction of our warming or cooling atmosphere. On one side you had increased CO2 in the atmosphere from a century (at the time) of industrialization which would increase temperature. On the other side you had an increase in particulate matter in the atmosphere from burning coal along with Sulfur Dioxide which can block some incoming light from the sun. This was known as "Global Dimming". Back in the middle of the 20th century there was disagreement as to which of the two forces would dominate the other. Would increase CO2 in the atmosphere warm the atmosphere more, or would increased particulate matter from burning coal along with Sulfur Dioxide dim incoming sunlight cool the atmosphere more?

So, in the 1970s two things happened.
#1. The EPA was formed by President Nixon in the US followed by equal environmental laws in Europe. This restricted air pollution and began bringing down levels of particulate matter and Sulfur Dioxide from coal.
#2. Coal was largely replaced as an energy source for oil which burns cleaner than coal. This lead to a further reduction in particulate matter and sulfur dioxide but continued to belch out large amounts of CO2. Although coal is still used in some electricity production it's a fraction of what it once was. Due to environmental regulations it's also burned "cleaner" although this is relative.

So, by the 1980s the evidence was clear. Global dimming was almost entirely overwhelmed by global warming.

Does that answer your question or is this a thread where you're just making accusations and not actually looking for an answer?

Because scientists are chicken little tier idiots who are always trying to get attention by predicting unrealistic scenarios. They have to do that to get attention because they're incapable of doing anything useful or good.

because scientists are low iq, same reason their global warming predictions never come true

that temperature data is the """corrected""" temperature record, not the real temperature record

so?
