What happens with the animals when it's freezing cold -25C during winter? What happens with flies, deer, mice, birds, fish, ants, wolves, spiders, etc.Even if they live in warmer places like Texas and Florida, there are rare days when even such places have very cold weather that a human will die in few hours if he isn't inside house.

Most cold adapted animals don't sweat for one thing. It's a bitch in winter. Sweating makes feet damp, which then cools dramatically and you get ice blocks for feet. If only we had wolf genes that never sweat on the body but very miniscule amount on the feet for running grip, that would make life so much easier to stay warm in winter. Also most true cold adapted animals have a counter current heat exchange vein and artery layout to their limbs whereas human have the very lossy inefficient con current heat exchange system. That's the reason 40kg huskys can sleep on the snow and stay healthy whereas big 90kg+ men can lose their fingers from a short period of time in the cold. Animals as big as humans should not be losing our fingers in the cold but we do because of our retarded vein layout. It's hypothesised that neanderthals had counter current veins. That would be nice.
>>16452313https://www.snexplores.org/article/no-frostbite-dogshttps://iditarod.com/edu/a-super-circulatory-system/https://phys.org/news/2012-01-dogs-ice-paws.htmlhttps://wolfies.place/do-dogs-get-frostbite/https://www.scirp.org/journal/paperinformation?paperid=28844Lot a birds have it too a counter current vein layout,it's the optimal layout for blood carrying vessels. Maybe one day we'll engineer it into us
>>16452314Also, counter current would average slightly warmer hands. Initially in a cold environment a dogs paws might be cooler than a humans but as we lose heat rapidly our core would shut off most blood going to the hands whereas the dog would still have a marginal amount flowing at all times. So over the long term a dogs paws with counter current would actually average higher temps then a humans who would start off warmer but then get progressively colder over the proceeding 10s of minutes untill it gets so cold the hand temp goes below freezing and ice form s inside the cells( frostbite) all the while dog is literally chilling in the corner unbothered. I tested this last year actually with a lazer thermometer. I was indoors in winter with the fire burning, my hands read 33c. My dog was outside sitting down staring at the birds during dusk, must have been 2c outside. Dogs paws read about 6c. I stayed out there smoking about 3 American spirit cigarettes, which if you know em, a typcial cig is a 3 minute affair but spirits are closer to 10 minutes. After half an hour with light layer on of shirt and denim jacket I read my hands: 4c. Just 2 above the ambient temperature, meanwhile the dog? 6c again, the exact same. So you can see if I stayed out there all night eventually as temps dipped even lower I'd risk losing my fingers. Anyway, inside the pair of us went to rewarm ourselves and I watched the green knight, an Arthurian legend film by david lowery,( very strange but lots of menaing to it's content so it was a confusing but deep experience). In conclusion, counter current beats con current everytime unless you live in an oven and like to go on long jogs ie the Saharan plains.

>>16452500>what's your point? The point is white people are not really adapted to winter, skin tone is a really simple thing to select for, evolutionarily speaking, its much harder to make a human be able to naturally live in sub-freezing weather. Only adaptation in that regards would be making people much bigger and fatter, like a bear. Some nordics are a bit like that but not even close to what is needed
>>16451199>duhhh you only survived because of your instinct to make tools and clothingno shit genius, that's what being a human being is
Animals are decked out in fur over basically every inch of their bodies and their heating systems are drastically different from ours. Yesterday I got into an argument with my dumbass bitch of a neighbour and she said im cruel because I keep my dog outside, even when its freezing. Well guess what, my dog has a double-layered coat, he doesn't sweat or regulate his heat like humans do AND on top of all that he undergoes body fat recomposition every autumn meaning he will suddenly start eating much more than usual, and I oblige him. His fur grows thicker and he gets an added layer of fat. Which is why I see him curled up comfily in snowpiles when its -15C outside and there is actually nothing detrimental to the animal's health about it, they have survived worse for millions of years now when there weren't even human. Then when spring comes my dog will stop eating so much, drops his winter coat and slims down for summer, every year, like clockwork. Whoever said humans are literally african species was spot on, its us outside the norm, not animals.

>>16455337But the human core temp continues to fall if you don't have heavy clothing on, and the arteries and capillaries won't relax and bring warm blood to the hand unless the core is warm, but our core wont stay warm without heavy clothes because we have a lossy artery configuration. As such the human hand gets colder and colder until it's below freezing at which point cold injuries occur, whereas the dogs who have nothing but their fur pelt which offers only moderate cold protection, their internal temp remains stable because their efficient counter current layout, and so while it's paws might be cool, 5c, it'll stay at 5c even in frigid temperatures such as minus 25c. The dog and wolf can be in contact with snow and not lose their paws because just enough warm blood( warm blood that persists inside the core because of the efficient artery layout) is permitted to the paws. Humans just get colder and colder and try to shiver to generate some heat but that's a temporary solution afterwhich your hands feet nose freeze then you die of hypothermia.humans have evolved to live in the great rift valley in Africa, one of the hottest places on earth. >>16478175The OP is mistaken in the sense that counter-current heat exchange helps these things not loose their toes because it quite obviously doesn't. In fact it makes that problem worse since it actively makes extremities cooler. It's a neat system that reduces overall heat loss which is of course helpful but doesn't by itself help with freezing limbs or frostbite. The actual answer why say a duck or a dog can just hand around on the snow while a human get it's toes frozen off is because of specific adaptions to cold. Furs and feathers are highly efficient insulator and bird legs for instance have way less fluids and muscles and come with thick skin so they are naturally resistant to freezing compared to the delicate mammal hands with loads of nerves and muscles in them. There's also chemical differences in cell walls and cell compositions as well and other such adaptationsThough I suppose in the end the heat exchange does help somewhat, namely in the sense that it allows for finer control over how much heat is being sent down to the feet. Many of these cold adapted animals can increase the amount of heat their bodies generate much more efficiently than a warm adapted animal like human and they can also control how much of that end up in the exposed parts better than a human can. One thing to note is that the way humans freeze (pre technology) is trough overall heat loss e.g. a cold night or something. The best response to that is to shut off our limbs and conserve overall energy in the core. This backfires in the modern day where you may have a jacket or something that would keep you warm for days but your body suicides your fingers when it detects a whiff of cold hitting your nose by shutting your capillaries even though you would have enough hot blood to just keep them warm anyways. For a wolf that evolved to deal with snow that's not the way they freeze so they can afford to have their limbs to take way more cold because that's part of their normal life
