Objectively correct reading advice from universities.

try reading an advanced math text at 5 minutes a page and 10 pages at a time and tell me how it goes
>>16541059You sound like you are sub 300. I can flip to any random page of any of my math textbooks and crank 1000 wpm. Cause I've actually practiced proofs etc.
>>16541054How about universities and publishers do their job and edit the dogshit that constantly spews from their many assholes. I want you to publish 500 words per man-year of research.
>>16541055Aren't "words" defined as every 5 characters? That's how it works for typing. So you'd need to calculate the average word length too
Try reading 600WPM while high on crystal meth and without, and tell me how retention goes.

>>16541062>Cause I've actually practiced proofs etc.
>>16541054Fuck this bullshit. I had professors assign 300 pages of reading due in 5 days.
>>16541555300 pages is not that long for a non-stem class
These are all useless for math textbooks.
>>16543364Well yeah, usually when you're in a mathematics class you're reading about a particular sub-topic, suplementing that with a lecture and doing problems out of the end of the chapter. Its not easily comparable to a reading assignment for a humanities class.
>>16541054I've crammed many coursebooks days before exams and have gotten As and sometimes stuff I systematically read throughout the entire course only got me a B.
