Tesla is easily the most overrated individual in the field of electronics. He stood on the shoulders of giants and tried to take credit for it. His entire contribution to history was he essentially designed a solid, for the time, AC motor/generator.

I really don't understand why burger love the guy so much.
Is it because the whole Edison vs Tesla debate that makes him look like the underdog and Americans don't know actually smart men during that time like Heaviside or Faraday?

Though well known during his lifetime, Tesla was virtually unknown in post-WWII US until sometime in the late 90s or early 2000s. Edison was extensively praised as an American genius inventor. Pre-2000, the only time I ever heard anything about Tesla was when I was a Niagara Falls and the Buffalo side had a statue of him put there by a bunch of Serbians.

He's popular because his works and theories attract a lot of cranks these days who use him to peddle their own ideas. He's overrated but you're definitely selling him short. "solid for the time ac motor/generator" lol
>>

Faraday is not that smart. He is even more of a mathlet than Tesla. Replace him with Maxwell.
>>
>>16542563
That's why his work is so impressive.
>>
It wasn't even Edison vs Tesla but Edison vs Westinghouse. Tesla were merely patenting AC shit like the induction motor. Guess what fags, DC motor was as good. The only one 'needful' of AC is the transformer.

Hey, how did you guys get way up there? I can barely see you.

There were hundreds of researchers doing electric motors and generators at the time. Many were eastern and central european, many russians and for sure tons of czechs

it's because a some redditor webcomic artist made a comic about him to raise funds to save the wardenclyffe site in the early 2010s and it wet viral with the narwhal baconers. This was also when tesla the car company and musk became popular on that site. Basically what >>16542549 said just that 2010+ he became actually popular. Really kind of another tragedy. Better left forgotten than turned cringe by redditors and a figure seethed about by butthurt resentful yuropoors.
>>
Tesla had some whackjob shit and its actually good that we didnt implement some of his ideas. Like sending high voltage current through the air and ground. Not healthy.

tesla as a meme started way earlier. It's already mocked in the movie Coffee and Cigarettes by Jarmusch and that was 2003
>>

Interesting, ok, just looked up the clip. Well yes, that guy's cringe was the tesla webcomic (The Oatmeal). Then, it's unfortunate that reddit glommed onto it and made millions of redditors sound like this guy..
