Shower thought: today's quantum computers resemble the light bulb switch computers of the 1960s
i mean, maybe? I don't get what all the hype about quantum is about desu, seems like people just nerding out, from a computer science perspective my understanding is there are very few theoretical reasons that a quantum computer would be better than a regular computer. Quantum computing has a certain nerd aura/glamour to it which i feel is unjustified.

thats all just the cooling dumbass

>>16543416were the light bulb switch computers back then massive sink holes for research money with no real improvements over time?
>>16543529it's essentially a scam in which they use the mystery and intrigue around quantum physics to siphon money for a pointless engineering project
>>16543416>light bulb switch
>>16543529We need ambient condition superconductors to get anywhere near productive. It's engineering that's waiting on matsci (ion trap is the real scam tbqh)

>>16543529Let me guess, you want flying cars and to waste time on some math question that no living thing could ever test.
>>16543416Shower thought: today's standard binary logic microprocessor based computers are already quantum. The real step forward is analog logic using electromagnetic interference.
>>16544423>are already quantum. They very objectively and demonstrably are not
