I was watching this short of Brian Cox and he says at the end:

Can someone please lay out what those 'pictures' are right now? What are the big 'pictures' that are argued over when physicists talk about what underlies space-time? Google was not helping me.

He's talking about the ER=EPR conjecture which is over 10 years old at this point, and as far as I'm aware hasn't led to anything concrete.
