Yesterday's breakthrough was AI, today's breakthrough they produced oxygen in space! Everyone say, Thank you China!
NASA did this with the space shuttle at least once, I remember President Bush commenting on it
>>16563296I made singlet oxygen in my bathroom today. Go Burgerstan!
>>16563296>oxygen and rocket fuelwow they electrolysed water in a manner that anyone can do in their kitchen sink? it's over for western civ
Wow, they are actually attempting to build space infrastructure.
I, too, can overcharge a lead acid battery. Make sure you top up your electrolyte.
>>16563296>hydrogennah, that shit doesn't matter, you cant store it long term, if you were to store hydrogen and oxygen in space, you'd literally store it as water-ice and only electrolyse it a short while before you need it as fuel.wake me up when someone >adds carbon to the mix and creates methane and oxygen, >stores that seperately in liquid cyrogenic form >in large quantities in sun-shielded tanks that remain at cyro temps permanently.so some dude in a metalox rocket can just pull up at the orbital fuel depot like a fcking gas station.
>>16563296It's not much of a breaktrough because you still have to haul what ever you want to use to make the fuel up there, you may as well haul the fuel directly. Orbital facilities don't have a means of gathering raw materials out of the orbit. It's not like they don't constantly make oxygen on the ISS already.
>>16563296>There is no paper associated, so they can claim they shat in a bucket and produced 100tons of methane and oxygen and no one can say the contrary>The process used a catalyzer to make oxygen and organic compounds, which can be used for rocket propulsion yes...>For chemical rockets, so you either manage to make a quintillion tons of that or you use to make propellant, either way it would require additional processing which surprise surprise is the main problem already.>The closest thing to being innovative is how, by slightly changing the catalyzer they are able to have 12 different products, but yet again, I have not found any paper so I don't know the performance of each reaction or what it means "slightly changing" the catalyzer>Implessive with this stroke of...Propaganda, chinkshit propaganda.
>>16563296fuck off retarded chink shill you turd
>>16563296you are a subhuman retarded chink
>>16563373But they didn't go it in a kitchen sink down on the surface of Earth, they did it in LEO where everything had to be carted up out of the gravity well.
>>16563296Why would anyone bother with orbital electrolysis when the mass economy makes no sense? The only effective way to produce fuel while in orbit is atmospheric scoops.
>>16565192>The only effective way to produce fuel while in orbit is atmospheric scoops.scooping up N2 and O2 from Earth's atmosphere gives propellent, not fuel.
>>16565205My bad. It works well for hydrolox systems because it produces the heavier half of the bipropellant.
>>16563595They did it on chinese equipment, that's what's commendable about this.
>>16563296There is no discovery, no technological breakthrough, no vague fucking concept that China will not shamelessly lie and claim it came up with before anybody else.
>>16563440>>16563443>>16563426shut the fuck up nigger.
>>165632962049 here we come!
