What is one controversial sports opinion you have that 99.9% of people would consider borderline retarded but you firmly hold on to it?
>>150483609You're retarded
I'm convinced 1995 FC Nantes was the best European team this year and would have beat Ajax in the CL final.
>>150483609Higuian at napoles was ronaldo narazio prime level. He could drible against everybody alone
>>150483609Yes, higuain is much bigger than Suarez I'd say at least 15 kgs bigger
Maybe not 99.9% but I think virtually all blabla about tactics in football is made up bullshit. Most matches are decided entirely by who has the better players, who has the better matchday form and who gets more refball in their favor. All the guardiola autism is useless and he would have basically the same success with just vaguely telling them to do their best on the pitch.
>>150488834the Vamos strategy
>>150488834PSG had a better players with Verrati, Messi, Neymar and Mbappé so nah
>>150492989No chemistry
>>150483609A tragedy at a sports venue was possibly a planned sacrifice of human life under a large owl
>>150492989Verrati was a paperweight and the front three didn't help pressing/defending so no
>>150488834It's like this, it really is.
>>150492989the defense was also worse, so was the coach, Galtier doesnt show any sort of energy for wanting his team to do well just to get the job done for a paycheck.Luis Enrique actually looks and sounds interested in having a winning team, and the midfield is much more functional its not just Verrati now, and the forwards actually press and do more than just waiting for the ball.
Kits are one of the most important things in footballMost teams peak in their best kit and win nothing in their bad ones
Pumping ball after ball into the box is a good strategy

>>150483609Grealish will be for Moyes what Cantona was for Ferguson
>>150494122This used to be controversial but the NFL tipped its hand the past few seasons with the Mahomes slurping and anyone who's not a Cheifs fan knows some of their games were sus as fuck (and Chiefs fans know it too, they just won't admit it).Between years of blatantly favorable calls, the Taylor Swift hype machine and that Buffalo game with its incredibly dubious 4th down call, the jig was pretty much up. Even the normies were tweeting #rigged and the league had to backtrack and let the Chiefs lose fair and square for once just to reassure the public that it wasn't all scripted. But we all know how it was supposed to go. Calling it off at the last minute doesn't erase all the shit they were pulling right up to that point. And I feel compelled to point out this is the second time the Chiefs have gone in as heavy favorites and got absolutely blown the fuck out. If you happened to know that those games would be officiated fairly and that the Chiefs would lose as a result there was a lot of money to be made.
>>150494550That is interesting. Good noticing with your last points about them getting whipped with a fair ref
>>150483609They should give all the faux states independency so the World Cup could be a 256 team elimination tournament.
Football should be a non contact sport
>>150494550Good post. Right before the Owl started, I started to realize they were going to pull the plug on the hype train and do the whole SEE SEE IT'S REAL thing. The games are real but the manipulation is so blatant to anyone who's watched it for decades.
>>150496505>OwlWhich owl?
>>150483609Basketball should be played in sets like volleyball, that way you'd have the 4th quarter excitement more times per game.

>>150488834You are indeed retarded. Non constant scoring makes football boring for 90% of the time.
Volleyball is a fun a and based sport that gets hate cuz manlets can't play >inb4 the liberoAverage height 180 cm, nice try!Manlet rage at a sport that demands being tall and able to jump high. Also having fast reflexes. And many won't admit it, but they resent being hit by the ball constantly, pussies!
>>150483609As an american who is disgusted by so, so many important soccer games having to resort to penalty kick shootouts because otherwise they could play forever without anyone ever scoring, I say you play whatever stoppage time there is without the offsides rule. Yes, it would result in chaos and probably a lot of "cheap" game-winning goals, but is that any cheesier than just lining people up for point blank shots at the goal with no defenders and the whole thing being decided by the goalkeeper guessing right once or twice? Penalty kicks are an incredibly contrived way to end the game. Out of necessity, because it's so hard to score otherwise. But if the whole problem is that it's so hard to score why not give everyone a few minutes with a more offense-friendly ruleset at the very end of games? Just let people go nuts with no restrictions and end games with goals during actual play instead of people taking turns kicking a dead ball. And the best part is this only opens the door to more games ending with goals, it doesn't guarantee any actually do. If no one scores during the offsides-free stoppage time at the end of OT you'd still have to go with penalty kicks. So this doesn't take away that aspect of the game, just makes it so like 80% of games don't end in ties or shootouts. Best of both worlds. And before>stupid fucking american doesn't understand the beautiful gameGive me actual arguments why this wouldn't work instead of just the "that's the way it's always been so nothing can ever be different" mentality
>>150498123Fuck no, the American system is super retarded.>Your team doesn't get punished for playing like absolute SHIT, they'll be back for the next competition no matter what.>Your players are selected by a fucking draft>Fans become brainless customers
>>150483609Barça wasn't a big European club before 2006.Everything they dis before 1992 was meme tier and they got carried to an UCL final in both 1992 and 1994 by their manager and the competition format,. Just like marseille.
>>150483609France isn't a serious footballing nation.
>>150498185Agree.At least in hockey it somewhat resembles actual gameplay IE a fastbreak
Basketball is a sport designed for low iq people, designed to make scoring as easy as possible. Even hardcore basketball fans will admit that a team not being able to score on 7 of every 10 possessions is a shitty team that needs to die. I repeat>unless you score on almost all of your ball possessions you are playing badly Guaranteed scoring system that makes that the average point differential on a match is always 10 or 12 pts. Average pts per game is on a 60 years high, they tried to give defense a break in the 90s and early 2000s and the people hated it. So now they turned it back to foul fishing and defense cucking. A basketball game that ends 100-90 is the same as a football games that ends 1-0.
>>150498340>Basketball is a sport designed for low iq people, designed to make scoring as easy as possible.I don't think that is particularly unpopular. The sport was designed as winter exercise so they wanted people mindlessly running up and down the court non-stop. Once it got more organized coaches tried to stop that but then rules were added to defeat the coaching shenanigans
>>150498340the problem with your metaphor is that a made field goal in basketball doesn't really count the same as a goal in football. in football a goal is a game-changing event that is massively celebrated, in basketball it's a back-and-forth and an eb-and-flow kind of game where it's about consistently delivering for 40-48 minutes, especially in the final 5 minutes where actions are magnified because there is less time for the opposing teamits just a different kind of "scoring" like in football
>>150483609that all england needed to do was build a team around glen hoddle first, and then copy that template for le tiss, and we'd have at least 2 more world cups by now
They should eliminate the shot clock in basketball and open up the rules to allow for more aggressive contact.
>>150498340That wasn't the intent, at least at the beginning. Ironically, basketball almost went under as a spectator sport because in the pre-shot clock era teams would just hold the ball forever and wait out the clock when they had the lead. It wasn't good defense, just nonexistent offense. The shot clock forcing teams to actually try and score saved the sport. But yeah, it's gone hard in the other direction and it creates this sort of inherent statflation that's great for marketing above-average players as "all-time greats." I mean, in a sport where both teams score 50 times a game, how impressive is scoring, really? What's the difference between actually being good and just shooting a lot? Somebody's going to score 20-30 points in any given game by deafult. It's a statistical certainty because even shit teams score in the 90's and it's not because 9 guys have 10 points each. But whenever someone does this routine thing we act like it's an accomplishment and that they're great instead of just average. This sort of non-impactful faux productivity is how guys like Bradley Beal make like $400 million despite never actually accomplishing anything or being good in a way that actually makes their team better. No sport has more fake "superstars" than basketball.
>>150498254They're too smart to be obsessed with le football
>>150498671Every other club in London seethed about Hoddle. Why did they hate him and spurs so much? Scandalous. Le Tissier was kino almost every match. What a waste of both talents. If there was ever a spurs player that didn't play for spurs it was le tissier.
Super Bowl 43 was rigged for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the Arizona Cardinals, and the famous Harrison pick6 had at least 3 personal fouls on PIT (2 holding, 1 clipping iirc) that would have negated the whole thing.
>>150498340>Basketball is a sport designed for low iq peopleBasketball isn't, but NBA "basketball" isn't even a sport - it's WWE-level "sports entertainment" to sell merch to monkeys.

A manager is only as good as his connections. That's why so many ex-footballers from top clubs get management jobs - club owners hope they have connections to bring in good or promising players. Coaching can be done by the coaches, tactics are just whatever the latest fad is. It's all connections. Some top players however failed to make connections like Wayne Rooney, but Harry Redknapp went as far as he did because of his connections. When Redknapp's connections left football, his managerial career ended. If an ex-player becomes a manager but fails right away, they were simply not a good people person. Rooney, Gary Neville, Steven Gerrard all failed in that respect. They were footballers for ~20 years but failed to make connections.
>>150498060You're not necessarily wrong but Brazil's failure had more to do with the absence of cajones in Brazilian "men" than with tactics. We weren't beaten tactically, we choked like fags.Argentina won in part because of Scaloni's work, indeed, but largely because of morale and dedication. But you're right to say having the best players doesn't mean you'll always win.
>>150500852>men's volleyballIs this real?
>>150502064>connections Too right, Arteta has all kinds of connections and he's survived so far

Titles dont matter. Teams are big according to their geographical location and fanbase numbers. Thus Arsenal will always be a bigger club than say, Ajax or Porto
>>150483609>Higuain better than Suárez at any point of their careersYou're right, that's one fucking retarded opinion. Here's mine and I don't care if you disagree, some olympic events like shooting and archery and the like should include men and women in a single competition, not to prove any kind of point or because there aren't any potential inherent advantages between the sexes, but rather because the program inflation is absolutely ridiculous and a lot of events should be cut where they could.
>>150492989>with Verrati, Messi, Neymar and Mbappé so nahVerrati spent more time injured than playing with them, and so did Neymar. Also, I will always maintain that Messi & Mbappé was an underrated duo, but that PSG midfield and defense were utter dogshite. >>150498185They got rid of the golden goal rule (first team to score during 30 minutes of additional play wins) which helped to encourage teams to keep attacking during extra time. Now, they play the 30 minutes regardless, so they just sit deep, defend and pray for penalties most of the time.
>>150499807>They're too smart
>>150483609Footy should return to the old days when youngsters couldnt leave their home country asap.Old champions league format was way better than what we have now, because it was actually champions vs champions and not "big countries have 4 teams each and the rest fight for scraps".There should be a stricter limit for foreign players to encourage homegrown talent, and you shouldnt be able to "naturalize" someone that easily.
I don’t think the majority of “top” players would have even got a look in ten or fifteen years ago. This isn’t me boomerposting about guys that played before matches were televised, but the current crop of “world class” players are evidently not very good at football. They’re all completely lacking in skill, flair and talent. They can run about loads for long periods of time and that’s about itAlso I think most of the Olympic events should be scrapped. The Conference League, Europa League and all second string cups that top teams can compete for (EFL Cup) should go with them
