>giving this as offside
lmao
>>
VAR has turned football into a joke. The offside rule was never intended to be judged based on millimeters of precision
>>
The lazio one from last week was criminal

He is clearly offside you dumb paki’s what are you crying about?

Congratulations on completely missing the point.

Retard.

It's either this or faulty human calls, no other option.

almost as retarded as thinking things dhouldn't change as technology changes. do you think the internet was invented so people could post their retarded opinions, because it wasn't, but here you are.
>>
>>150508039
man u fan? sorry youre not allowed to rig anymore
>>
>>150508076
>giving this is an offside lmao
>but he was offside
>THAT'S NOT THE HECKING POINT!!!
>>
>>150507988
it should just be FEET which count. you can't propel yourself with your head so leaning over the Offside line created by the defender gives no benefit. there's no advantage in having your head further than the defenders knee in getting to the ball. using body parts is nonsense and i know they reason it by saying you can score with a part of your body that isn't feet, but just making it the players feet is sensible.
>>
>>150508224
you'd see players leaping forward with their head every cross that comes in
>>
>>150508039
Absolutely. I prefer offside calls to be based on the assistant's arbitrary decision to raise or not the flag even though the striker might be 5 metres ahead of or behind the 2nd last man. Hala Madrid btw.
>>
Oh no hecking cute and valid real should be allowed to score offside goals nooo

Kinda agree. The millimetre accurate computer lines should not take precedent over the not-so-naked eye (precise angle camera replays should be the standard), but then again, some of the best footy moments of the last decades would be disallowed that way and thus the spectacle (and we all) would suffer significantly.
Pic ver much related.

>here's no advantage in having your head further than the defenders knee in getting to the ball
But that's wrong.
>>
OI HE'S GOT A LOICENSE TO BE OFFSIDE JUST A WEE BIT ROIGHT YOU CAN'T RULE IT OUT REF YOU CHEEKY GUVNAH
>>
Take out the refball and own goals and United would have 0 points this season.
>>
>>150508486
What trophy did this "pivotal moment" lead to?
>>
>>150507988
it's offside
>>
This is the most scandalous VAR decision I have seen, and it only happened yesterday. They didn't even show the players being parallel; they showed it from this angle, as a still image, and nothing else.
>>
>>150507988
technology has ruined football
>>
Idiot football fans getting exactly what they asked for, but not what they wanted.
>>
it's because referees cry about bullying on social media after making a mistake, so now they offload all their 'i don't want to be the bad guy' decision making onto the machine (run by another guy in an office 50 miles away)

which is how 'catching and correcting clear and obvious errors that would materially affect the game' morphed into 'the player's nipple was offside'
>>
Rules are rules. They can't give this one just because it's Mbappe and Real Madrid.
>>
>getting the call wrong is good actually
I cannot believe you retards actually believe this
>>
>>150508039
Soccer was always a joke.
>>
>>150509170
yeah this was fucking criminal and it doesn't even show in any way how the Burnley player is apparently offside
horrendous
>>
if I wasn't a whiny bitch, i'd probably ask why the defender was in such a shit position. not only flat footed, but leaning. thats just me though.

so what? it will be the same rule for everyone
>>
>>150507988
I'm in favor of VAR offside nitpickery as long as it is fast and reliable
The first part is mostly solved with semi-automated offside technology. It is much faster than some donkey drawing a line in a basement, and it is also more reliable. But the more I think about it, the less I like the rule regarding the measured body parts: perhaps it should be feet only
During the Hamburg derby on Friday, a player scored a goal after starting in his own half. But it was offside since he was leaning forward, across the halfway line. That feels wrong
Also, these computer models aren't really trustworthy. They could be anything. I don't know how much harder it is, but they should try to show us the actual footage of the real players
VAR being precise is a good thing, even if it leads to very close calls. It's better to be on point, having a tolerance area will just lead to people complain about goals being disallowed despite the striker being very close to that tolerance area
>>
>>150522222
With digits like those, how can you not celebrate by taking the time to tell the rest of us how the fuck it’s offside?

It should be onside as long as the body part you use to control the ball was onside when the pass was released. This obviously couldn't be done by humans, but now it can easily be automatized there's no reason not to.
>>

The advantage is you can head the ball, retard

>>
>>150525241
>you can head the ball
For now…
>>
>>150507988
If it was a linesman on the field making the call, sure, that's not okay.
If it's a computer that does it reliably in a correct fashion, that's fine.

Anglos do not deserve football.
Be fucking better and stop bitching.
>>
>>150524853
There’s a picture and you’re still too retarded to figure it out
>>
>>150508039
correct.
whoever invented the offside rule would be spinning in his grave if he knew this would happen.
i'd much rather go back, yes human assistants made mistakes but if the best are selected for the job, we can accept occasional mistakes.
VAR completely ruins the flow of the game and causes lots of mistakes too (how do you know exactly when the ball was released by the assistman's foot? no way to know that for sure)
>>
>>150508039
offside is the least of the problems. at least it's a computer that's being retarded. it's everything else that's a joke, where a nerd in a booth re-refs a match specifically to cause controversy and change shit.
>>
>>150533714
the rule was created for an analogue interpretation in real time, not someone taking a freeze-frame and trying to pick which part of the arm is the "legit goal-scoring part of the arm", rendering the precision of the line arbitrary
>>
>>150508039
There should be some kind of margin put in place. Perhaps 10 cm. Yes, then 10.00001 cm would be considered offside, but not any fucking possible position from 0.1 to 10.
>>
>>150509170
Didn't Lukaku get called offside as his cock was slightly offside?
>>
>>150534165
lmao bro you fell for a photoshop, in reality it was his shoe
>>
>>150534151
Wherever you draw the line, there will always be millimeter calls.
And as long as the required precision can be guaranteed, the rules should be applied to the letter.

Has there been even a single example of a blatantly wrong VAR-offside call?
Except for, that I'm not quite sure even now where precisely they draw the line with shoulders, I haven't seen a reason to complain so far.
>>
It should be officially judged according to the head, then we can have the meme of the century with strikers leaning their heads back when trying to beat the offside trap
