Just got asked whether I watched The H*ndred in our 20-strong team catchup, because they know I'm a cricketsman through and through

Couldn't tell a lie so I told them that I'm opposed to it and never watch it

But said that if I started to explain why then I'd probably bore them for hours so it'd be better not to - not as much of an irl blogposter as I am on here

Pretty sure a simple "it has wide effects on the greater cricket world - reducing the quality of the better formats in the name of commercial success" would've been enough

Looks like SOMEBODY isn't up to date with my weekend batting heroics

>>150533193
To be honest it wasn't that good a half century
Only two shots (both powerful cover drives after advancing down the track against pace) felt good, other than that it was just simple sweeps to leg side shit (feels too easy to really celebrate) and a couple of edges over the gully to slip area (a deliberate strategy of flashing hard at anything outside off, but it'd still be nicer if they came off clean)
Should probably have been caught on 8, so that took a bit of the joy out of it too
>>
>>150533564
Offered the one-sentence explanation of "the county I support gets completely sidelined to make way for it", but your explanation would have worked too

Trouble is, these are all non-cricketsmen NPCs, and they probably love all the shit commercial gimmicks associated with it

Honestly? My catch on Saturday (covering a lot of ground before diving to take it one handed) was a thing of beauty, far better than any shot I played

Think it's the second best catch I've ever taken, after a diving one-handed catch to a ball that was leathered just to the side of me in a 3rd XI fixture when I was 14

Batsman was incredulous, saying "We just don't get catches like that at this level"

I made 1000* on test difficult once with my created player
>>

63* actually, don't forget the extra runs

3/5 bowlsmen I faced were younger lads (aged 16-25) who were trying to bowl wheels but sprayed it around too much, probably my favourite sort of bowling to face desu

The one 16 year old lad beat me outside edge a few times after I dispatched him for a couple of forceful fours though, fair play, was quite a good battle
>>
wow you faced a peem with no specialist offspin and a bunch of school kids so statpadded with a shit strike rate. amazing. back to single digit scores from next game

But I remembered to take a leg stump guard and resist the urge to step across the crease, so I'm slowly learning at least
>>
>>150541386
desu that is fair actually. did play some proper neeky shots at the time
Tbh BLC lets you play too many neeky shots that don't even exist in cricket. Must have scored 800 of those runs with sixes over fine leg - not scoops but just whipped from the wrists lmao
>>
>>150541393
Had good pace for a 16 year old desu, was much quicker than their ~28 year old opener who just bowled normal line and length

But that's bread and butter to someone who plays the front-foot cut as forcefully as me
>>
desu it was a really shit and simplistic game. Very arcadey. Was basically comprised of like 6 hitboxes (compared to something like Tekken which has thousands), and nothing you did as a bowler made any difference really
But it's all we have and was solful

One time the receipt for the game fell out of my pocket and my deano mate saw it and questioned it but I said it was a present for one of my sisters
>>
A testament to how good the writing was is the softball episode. Didn’t know they were real players, but the comedy and the narrative didn’t need you to recognise them - it worked on its own terms

Remember getting in a heated argument with somebody online who kept beating me
Found out he was in his early 20s so I called him a sad virgin and said that anybody who played the game after the age of 18 (I was about 15 at the time) was a fucking loser who needed to get out more
But then I went through a phase of playing it again in my mid 20s, and would probably still get at least some enjoyment if I played it again now

The early Simpsons (until about S12 or whatever) was the greatest TV show ever tb desu
