why is this not a major global sport again? if fucking sucker can get popular why cant this when its both more fun to play and to watch, and just as simple?
>>150538905i can tell those are those shitty foam balls they made everyone start using for "safety" reasonswhen i was in high school in late 2000s we had to take PE and they made us use those.in elementary school back in late 90s early 2000s we still had the real rubber kickballs. those were fun
>making and breaking alliances to win scatter dodgeballtake me back
>>150538932as someone who was in school during the 2000s, you could definitely see the gradual transition from the rubber era to the foam era around the mid-naughties, maybe 2005 or so.And to answer OPs question, go watch an ESPN Ocho broadcast of professional dodgeball. Learned strategy has made that game boring as fuck at the high level.
>>150540938>maybe 2005 or so.yeah i think that lines up with my experience, we're probably about the same age
>Never used foam balls>Grew up to be a man
>>150538905You do know that Dodgeball is banned at schools in certain states after a kid died from taking a head shot.
>>150538932>>150540938When I was in 2nd grade (2000-2001) we played dodgeball using rubber kickballs, then in 3rd grade we had to use foam balls, then in 4th grade and after we had to use foam balls AND only throw underhand. We all complained about it amongst ourselves and to the PE teachers but I still loved dodgeball day no matter what. That was your childhood chance to be a hero. I still remember when our entire team got out except one kid. He dodged or blocked 4 or 5 shots straight, then lobbed a basket to bring our entire team back in. Shit was legendary. Honestly as a kid I just assumed they moved us to foam balls and underhand throws because as we get older, we might have actually hurt each other with a solid overhand with a rubber kickball. I should have known we were just being pussified.
>>150538932the best part of the rubber balls was the sound they made when you destroyed someone
>>150541268My school district never went as far as to do the underhand rule, that sounds psychotic.I forgot about the concept of “throwing a basket” lmao. That was a one-way trip to poontown.Yeah, dodgeball and capture-the-flag were undoubtedly the best days in PE.
What would the meta be?
>>150542224Go for the fat guy
>>150538905There's an Indian version of dodgeball called Kabaddi that is very popular in India (#2 sport) but instead of a ball you send a player to try to tag the other team and then get back into their own half. I believe it's coming to the US soon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kW6z5TyU8QA
