Every single year dozens of players find themselves injured due to the strenuous schedule. Furthermore, once September rolls around - which should be the most exciting time of the baseball season - baseball can’t possibly compete against the NFL and college ball as they. start back up. So check this out, right:

>expand the MLB to 32 teams (16 in the AL, 16 in the NL)
>each AL team faces every other AL team in two 4-game series (1 series home, 1 away), same with NL
>no interleague play
>this equals a 120-game season
>the team with the best record in each league wins the Pennant
>these teams play each other in the World Series

>12 regular season games in March
>24 games each month from April - July
>12 regular season games in August
>1 week break
>World Series is during the last week of August

>Then football season starts

Let me know what you think.

they will never go for a shorter schedule even if it does make sense. And you can't start the season earlier or end it later because of weather.

I've thought about shortening the season a lot, down to one series per week, but baseball is a game that really needs the long season to help the best teams eventually settle where they belong. Baseball has a lot of randomness in it, and you need the the high data pool of 162 games to prevent anomalies.

Baseball being dead in September boils down to the same shitty teams in low markets being out of it by September. Beyond the obvious solutions to this issue, the most efficient and achievable one that makes the most sense is to have a high amount of playoff teams to where all you need to do is hover around .500 to punch your ticket to the playoffs. This would not only possibly incentivize even the shittiest owners like Bob Nutting to push his chips to the table more often and spend more, but it'd keep interest high into autumn even if a team is below .500 because they could still make a run in September.

Beyond that, having a challenge system for balls & strikes will be huge in 2026 in fixing the sport.

not all of us care about handegg. October playoffs is fine

Cut out some of the regular season but expand the playoff bracket to include every team with your record determining your seed
That way even the worst teams will have some end of season hype instead of just existing from august on

I don't pay attention to mlb at all entirely because of the schedule and nothing else and it's my favorite sport

irredeemably based

Oh no, I had to go to the plate 4 times to swing a bat 3 times. 12 whole swings today, I'm exhausted.
