I KNEEL NORTHERN IRELANDSAN
>>150609526Save the kneeling for Sunday when they inevitably beat our mercenary pussies in Cologne
>>150609870Is Cologne as bad as they say it is? I’ve heard it’s been bad since the 90s… I’m going to germany soon for vacation avoid or no
>>150609526NO SURRENDER
>>150610010I'm from a city that has a rivalry with Cologne, so take this with a grain of salt, but I will try to be as neutral as possible:I don't really know what you mean with "bad", but it has gotten worse since the 90s for sure, though I am not old enough to judge more than the last 10-15 years. It's gotten dirtier and uglier, but it's still a decent city for the most part. The city has character at least, and it's not a criminal shithole. Chorweiler is probably the worst part of it, but you won't end up there anyway. So I don't think you have to be scared, it's still a safe city. The only real major attraction is the cathedral, though. There, you will probably see the post-war misery of Cologne in general, as the destruction of the war has destroyed most of the historic town core. As a local, there are many other decent corners, but as a tourist, you experience a city with different eyesKöln has gotten worse and Düsseldorf has gotten better since ~2010. Partially
>>150610381So to clarify: the cathedral is worth a visit and so are the remains of the old town core. There's not that much else to see, but it's okay. And Bonn and Düsseldorf are right next to it, both can be worthwhile for a shorter trip as well. There are some nice castles/palaces and parks in the vicinity as wellDepends on how much time you have and how you can travel. But there's no need to be scared of Cologne at least
>>150609526>a fucking bootleg England flag is going to the world cupwhat a weird timeline
>>150610509>>150610381Wew thanks for the detailed response anon i appreciate it. Quick question do i have to bring my own bag to carry stuff i buy at Lidl or ? I’ve only been to Switzerland in Europe and over there they had that you bring your own bag to put the stuff you buy into the bag idea which was cool to me
The foitan oirish
>>150610899No problem, frenBringing your own bag won't hurt. But they should sell bags there as well. Tbqh, I am an Aldi enjoyer, I haven't entered a Lidl since elementary school, so I don't know what exactly they doDo you have anything in particular planned for this trip? And when will you visit?Oh, I forgot that since we're /sp/, visiting a home game of FC Köln would be another good thing to do when in Cologne. It's a nice experience (usually). But getting in as a tourist is almost impossible unless you plan ahead
>>150611213I’m going for oktoberfest and probably gonna day trip to other cities that’s why I had asked about Cologne. I snagged tickets to see Bayern Munich play at home for 60 euros i’ll be attending that too. I assume to see Fc Köln you’d have to become a member to get better chance to snagging tickets ?
>>150611559Yes, that's the standard for basically any significant German club (Wolfsburg and the likes aren't significant in terms of fan culture, we have a big divide between "recently successful clubs" and "traditionally large clubs"). It definitely makes things much easier. Bayern's stadium has the inferior atmosphere according to general fan consensus because of the comparatively high amount of tourists and bandwagoners, but it will have the better football and surely be worthwhile anyway. Nice that you got tickets. So you will see them play against Bremen?Oktoberfest is a scam in my eyes, the prices sound ridiculous. But then again, I am not a Bavarian, and I hope you'll have fun there. Bavaria itself is a nice area to visit, I can recommend Regensburg, Straubing, and Passau, perhaps Ingolstadt as well. These are somewhat close. But many small villages in the countryside will be neat as well, the area around the Starnberger See or the Tegernsee, for example. Or the Alps of course. Further up north in Franconia, there are Bamberg and Bayreuth. If we're talking about nice cities across the entire country, I'd think of Dresden and Hamburg, Freiburg, Heidelberg, Erfurt, Lübeck, Münster, maybe Trier ... and the Upper Rhine Valley with its castles. I'm just spouting names here, though, check for yourself what you'd like and what you might be able to visitIn any case, I hope you'll have a wonderful time
>>150612321You gave me a lot of recommendations on places to go to anon thank you i really do appreciate i definitely will probably change what i do haha. I really only wanted to go to oktoberfest cause i love drinking beer i don’t drink as much anymore but i still love a cold draft any day of the week. again thanks anon i really appreciate the advice you’ve given
>>150614306No need to thank me, friendAll the best for your trip and the beer (technically, experiencing the different regions and their many beer varieties has become all the more logical now for you) - and see you around
>>150614500Thanks anon again I greatly appreciate i’m sure i’ll enjoy germany and will have nothing but a good experience
Norn are going to rip these cunts a new arsehole
>>150615777I was in Cologne for the Euros. I didn't think there was much to it except the cathedral Get a local state train from Cologne to Aachen, very much worth the day tripEnjoy German trains and factor in being extremely late especially with changes. They are even worse than ours
>>150617894Aachen is nice for sure, outer areas like Burtscheid and the like included. Did you also check out Monschau in the Aachen district?
NORN IRON MENTIONED
