Went for a jog, can't call that a run probably 4km at 5/km. A lot easier than anticipated. I thought I'd have tight chest, sore hips, tight calf, tight hip flexor and general exhaustion. Watch died half way through though which is frustrating. I'll probably get a fire runner or fenix instead of this chink slop. I shall become a runner now. Cagies and general cycling burnout have caught up with me. Running was more fun, more natural ad I believe it will be more transferable to other activities in planning.

what if jonas is so good at sucking wheel that when he's alone in the TT he is automatically seeking a wheel to suck, and the nearest wheel to suck is the guy infront of him

so he is magnetically pulled forward so he can latch on to the nearest wheel in front of him

maybe that's why he is good at TT, at least thats my theory

The saviour of cycling is back

>At the World Championships, Pogacar won't just be defending his road title; he's also not without ambition in the time trial. "Do I really want to challenge Remco? Of course, that's the goal," he says with a wink.

>"I want to give him and the other strong specialists a run for their money. The course should suit me, although I'll need a very good day. I've always been a fan of the discipline and have been on my time trial bike more than usual this time. I'm going there to prove myself the best that day," he concludes aggressively.

Question for eggsperts. My Trek Marlin 8 2022 got stolen from the workshop. The workshop guy is offering me as compensation a brand new Marlin 7 Gen 3 2024 they have. It's 15kg heavy because dropper post and other things, and I'd have to pay over 400 Usd additional because new bike/pricier than the Marlin 8 '22. The Marlin was only 13.2 kg heavy. I never do trail but only asphalt and dirt roads (lots of climbing including many rampas)

The other option is they get me a 2nd hand Marlin 8 as the one I had, but that would took more time and be harder to do. What do? Should I accept the Marlin 7 2024? The weight concerns me a lot but I'm not eggspert on this.
>>
>>150724111
The weight doesn't matter much, you can ask them to remove the droper .I don't think I'd accept paying extra because they got your bike stolen though

Looking forward to another today. Probably same route but a bit slower, like 6/km just the grease the groove and strengthen the muscles. It is so much fun. Will buy clothing later this money curtesy of the government. I have a nice 8km route I liked when I last ran, a good route to just sit at 5/km with a few hills and it's mostly trail.

>>150724715
It didn't feel difficult, I don't doubt heart rate was high because I'm unfit but I cut it short so I didn't create a lot of muscle damage. Hardly sore today. Came back feeling high as a kite. Love running. Want to climb too but running is perfect to be a stronger hiker. It's why I'm doing it. But I'll probably enjoy running as a primary hobby over winter.

How is that hard to believe? This was in 2022 after 2 weeks running when I wasn't in great shape particularly, I was unfit and a bit overweight like me now. I have decent natural fitness because I trained a lot on the bike as a teen and I'm naturally fit, like my dad who's over 300w ftp as a 53 year old with a year training. I'm quite broad and have a fair bit of deadweight weak muscle though because I've not been in the gym fir 6 months. I would need a month because I ride my bike maybe 20 times this year but 5min/km for 8km isn't hard. Dudes are doing 16-17 minute 5km's, now that's unreal to me. That's fucking quick.

I recommend trail running anon. Much more divers and motivating imo. If you have hills use them. Distinct training benefits, muscular, aerobically and anaerobically to running up hill. Take downhills slow in the beginning until muscles adjust (land with on forefoot to avoid rolling ankles on downhills too-much safer). Soon you will be running in loops from where you live, which will be boring. A good motivstion to increase volume is thus to pick a new train station or bus station everytime to run to and commute back home. This was you run to new places everytime. Voila, thanks for reading my blog

I bought half trail shoes for this reason instead of the slick shoes. That 8km loop is great, it's through a forest and then across fields with sheep and cows. Probably only 3-4km in tarmac. Sketchy at night but I'll get a good headlight I think, and hopefully it doesn't rain much until late this year so I can enjoy the good trail runs. I pity those living inner city who have no choice. I'm 2km from the edge of town.

I'll try to get more volume than before at low pace like 6min/km or something so it's low impact, then work up to do the intervals as you say. I note when unfit the big difference is you can't redline and recover, you stay there until you stop and rest. I have little idea about cadence but I hear often to go high and take short strides. I'll get a forerunner or a fenix soon I think. Nice to have reliable live metrics. The 570 looks nice but a little 2d, fenix seems well rounded. Even has a torch, total gimmick I'd imagine.

some people dont think about it. But, its quite dangerous on rocky paths since there are no muscles which extend to stabilise the leg when you make contact with the ground, which is different to when your toes/forefoot touch the ground first.

>>
Being the starter on a TT day has got to be one of the worst humaliation rituals
>>
>>150725713
I got a supacaz bartape the last time because /sp/cyc/ recommended it and it was actually a pretty good rec. I usually leave my bartape (black) on pretty long, but the supacaz one wore out so fast I had to replace it mid-season, so it seems they have a helpful reminder built in that you don't leave it on too long

i'm trying a BBB one now

He should have become a staple in commentary and punditry, but I suspect it's far too boring for him and the challenge of running a team was his destiny. I'm a bit surprised about that too though, I thought he'd slither off into investment banking or another extremely lucrative industry. I guess that shows he's very humble and cares for the sport. Very classy rider, always made races exciting and won in some of the most magnificent ways. He was never imperious in his abilities like poogacar or sagan to an extent, so you never quite knew who'd take the win. That is what made him an even greater rider. He was by far, and possibly still is, my favourite rider. Everything about him was cool.

the problem is that they'll basically replace the classics with some "fancy" shit around saudi or road cycling on moto circuits etc. does anyone actually want to see 4 hours of "cycling" around monza? i highly doubt it. also they'll probably sell the streaming rights to some big corpo and you'll have to pay 3 subscriptions to watch all races, while now you can just watch them on eurosport

So Fishboy loses if we get another full mountain stage? What the fuck happened to him?
Good to be back home.

Nah Almeida struggled to keep up with the others of the top five on the last climb yesterday. Jonas can just sit on his wheel or follow Hendley or Pellizzari when they attack easy win

They can't replace the classics. Same reason LIV golf is just exhibition bullshit that nobody takes seriously.
Teams and riders come and go, it's the historical races that are the sport.

you can't set up your own golf league and try to replace the Masters
you can't set up your own tennis league and try to replace Wimbledon
you can't set up your own cycling league and try to replace Paris Roubaix

The grand tours, the monuments and a select few other races are the pillars of the sport. Remove these and the sport collapses. Of course these guys know this. It's just a question of where the middle ground will be if they do set up their races. Probably just small races will become smaller or die out completely.

About to celebrate my 2 year neet anniversary
>>
I'm celebrating by having a party at my parents house, every /cyc/ poster is invited:

>party bags
>10km run
>back for pizza, nuggets, soda/cider, mozzarella dippers, cream cheese jalapeño bites, schnitzel, burgers, cheesy chips, halloumi skewers and disgusting paella and burrito for the hispanic attendees
>followed by pro cycling manager tournament
>night ends with a zwift 200m face off tournament and then stargazing, failing that due to poor weather conditions we can make racist comments on blue boards all night with my various different proxies and simcards

Unfortunately there is no space for posters to stay the night but there is a woodland near by you could camp in

What a DISASTER of a week we've had in the Vuelta!! And it's almost been as much as a disaster for the /WORLD TOUR WINE/ offices!! We had some water damage to our floorboards requiring half our floors getting replaced. Due to incessant drilling and sawing, Bertina and I rode out the work at a local hotel so I missed a scheduled day of posting, but I have returned. You can even see the wood dust on my glass. But at least we have a GREAT wine!

Today's wine is from the 16th stage in the far NW of Spain (Galicia), home to one of the great appellations of the country - Rias Baixas, home to Albarino. This is a delightful coastal white grape, fresh enough for summer patio drinking and serious enough for serving at a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Pazo Senorans Albarino 2023 ($32)

This pours a pale gold with medium body. The nose is fruity, with lime zest and green melon. There is a little lactic tang to the nose. The palate is medium bodied, a bit of oil, stone minerality leading to the fruit then a lingering, palate-tingling acidity. There is a bit of pleasing bitterness on the finish as well.

I love Albarino, it is one of my favorite and most accessible whites. This is very balanced, certainly fruit forward but with minerality, acidity, and some fat to it. Very nice. We'll get caught up on /wtw/ tomorrow with another SENSATIONAL bottle for this fraudulent race!
