Zero excuses from Canelo at all. Damn he just said he was bothered by everything and couldn't figure Bud out.
>>
Here are your champs at 160:

>Janibek
>Lara
>Adames

Crawford should target Lara for his 160 belt. Then he can retire having been champ in 6 weight classes. 135, 140, 147, 154, 160, and 168.

He'd share this with ODLH and Pacquiao, with Pacquaio having more weight classes conquered.

It's all been downhill for Canelo ever since GGG2, which was his peak. His style totally degraded for some reason; no longer throwing any sort of combination, not even jabs - he just throws naked punches going for the KO, and his footwork became plodding.

He managed to get all the belts at super-middle because the 4 champs there were all B+ tier fighters at best. Then after winning the belts, he managed to keep them by fighting worse and worse opposition. The 2 times he fought skilled fighters (Bivol/Crawford) he was exposed badly. Sad. I suppose it was the 50+ fights taking its toll on his body and mind. It's time to retire.

Nah, that's selling Canelo a bit short. B-tier is reserved for "good fighters who aren't quite champ calibre" aka Caleb Plant. GGG vs Canelo 1/2 were both technical masterclasses and Canelo did great in them regardless of your opinion of who the rightful victor was. Canelo was champ calibre. He just got washed somewhere along the line.

>the dwyer and rummy curse combo ACTUALLY fucking delivered
Why did I ever doubt Crawgod? I thought the odds were stacked against him in such a way it seemed impossible. I knew Canelo was a shell of himself, but Crawford “did the impossible”, much like Bivol proved everyone wrong. After the Madrimov fight and Crawford’s inactivity, I was doubtful. Turns out maybe he needed his body to rest. Canelo has fallen off for years and has not slowed down his pace. His body has suffered for it. Canelo should have been the one resting. Crawford proved how great he was. It was truly a masterclass performance and I learned a lot just from the initial watch. The commentary was mostly horrible thanks to that retard Kellerman but man, there’s something very special about Crawford. And shout out to Bomac. None of this would be possible without his guidance and EXCELLENT ringside advice. And you can tell crawford is listening to every word with intent, and Bomac is just giving sound advice every round. That partnership, Crawford’s refined yet wild style. It’s unlike anything Ive ever seen before. The spence fight was over so quickly it was hard to cherish it. I appreciared the demolition, but he completely stifled Canelo’s offense with clever movement, feints, excellent foot positioning, but amazing technique and power for someone who just moved up three weight classes. Crawford is simply special, a monster of a fighter. He is refined, but underneath it he is unorthodox, he is a street fighter, probably one of the most dangerous fighters on the planet. His mother had him beat up kids in the neighborhood for money. Imagine being a kid and getting your ass whooped by that young prodigy. Crawford is something else…Ive never seen Canelos face that swollen since GGG. Nobody but him has hurt him in that way, but unlike GGG, Crawford barely had a scratch. I know this wasnt “peak” Canelo, but Crawford is no spring chicken either.
>>
>>150781331

Those prestigious belts symbolize excellence in the sport you dedicate your life to. Imagine being Canelo, and the belts you held dear for so long are now gone, lost against a lazy outsider to your division! I think that hurts more than losing your zero.
>>
>>150781518
you must be at least 18 years old to post here
>>
Where do you think this win ranks all time among the best individual wins in boxing history? The only one I can think of that is definitely better is Duran beating SRL the first time
>>150781481
Crawford is one of the most complete fighters I think has ever fought in the game. Every time I watch him, he's fighting differently, utilising a completely different style against different opponents. Some people tried to tell me here that he wouldn't be able to fight off the backfoot like a Lara type or that his jab wasn't near the level of someone like GGG to keep Nelo at bay or that he was nowhere near as defensively sound as Mayweather was to beat Nelo, and he put ALL of those misconceptions to bed completely. The dude is capable of fighting in any way he wants, hes one of the best fighters I've ever seen.

Medina 20-17 Takei
Takeis guard is WAY too open, its a miracle he didnt get hurt/dropped that round considering how many time Medina caught him clean

Medina 30-26 Takei
Takei was doing better for the first half of the round but ended up just getting walked down in the second half, medinas shots are too powerful to ignore

youre barking up the wrong tree ramirez, and you need reading comprehension. canelo lost and it was his fault bc he kept the same corner, followed a non existent strategy, no improvement from his last horrendous fight.

Crawford winning, just like Usyk, is the pussyfication of boxing winning. Just be a lil bitch, run from your opponent the whole time, land a 100 pillow touches in 2 seconds, and be crowned "a legend". Pathetic, revolting.

>>150782119
kek. I used to rate Inoue the top of those 3 but now reckon he's a smidge below them because he keeps getting dropped and they don't.

>Takei lost by early KO

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Wasn't Tenshin supposed to fight him next? Both of them were kickboxers. They were supposed to face off in the boxing ring.

Tenshin also said he'll fuck off back to kickboxing after winning a boxing belt. Not a bad decision. I think he'd peaked in boxing. I can see him capture an easy belt (Takei, but he lost), but not able to defend it against top contenders, or unify against strong title holders.
>>
woke up, watch the fight, Glad I didn't stay up. Crawford 8-4 easy W. Didn't expect it. But it was extremely easy. Fucking coaching diff. Why is Canelo a pressure fighter? He's terrible at it. No fucking footwork, no volume, no gass tank. Crawford did the william skull plus. Canelo needs to stop fighting boxers. Or just go back to being a counterpuncher. Anyways, gg's to all the guys who believed in Bud. I'll take the L.

If Inoue wants to have prolonged success at 126, or even get a taste of 130, he'd have to fight like this. He's a good boxer, he can still rely on boxing if he can't KO his opponents. Especially when that becomes an issue in the higher weight classes. He gets dropped too easily, so it'll be a problem for him in higher weight classes.

Great fight to showcase and polish his boxing under the lights.

that was the most front foot MJ has been so far and he landed a few better shots because of it but it also caused him to get countered a lot more
>>
>>150782721
Yeah, it'll turn cazzies off.

I'm having tons of fun watching him box MJ's head off. He wasn't looking for the KO against Fulton either, and was putting on a clinic against a boxer in Fulton, and winning. Then he saw the opportunity to KO and went for it.

Great fight so far. Can't always fight and please the cazzies.

Inoue mentioned something going into this fight about wanting to show hes more than a KO artist since apparently the jap fanbase was worried about him being on the decline. Canelo victory doesn't bump Bud up that much more than beating MJ here imo, both were completely unimpressive. Canelo is a good name but we've been shitting on him for a long while for not even being able to dominate berlanga, let alone finish him, in his current form. MJ is durable and strong but my estimation of him as a complete fighter has also plummeted. My estimation of Usyk, Bud, and Inoue won't change much anyway by this point off of just a win or two, though beating guys like Vergil and Nakatani would be very impressive regardless of both being favored against them.

I really don't see any reason to separate any of Bud, Inoue or Usyk from one another. It's just splitting hairs for me and when you have to stretch to find a reason to exclude them from the conversation, I don't feel a need to rank them against one another.
>>
1. Godford...dare I say GOATford
2. Usyk
3. Inoue

True it's just semantics. They each do things the others and anyone else alive cannot replicate, add on top of that how fighters at different weight ranges fight differently. I don't mind a healthy rivalry where each one tries to one up each other in performances but that's the extent I care about these debates. That said Inoue is up there with them and it still feels like he has another 6-8 fights to go before he gets the early retirement at 35 he's talked about for himself.
>>
Canelo won. Twice.
>>
>>150783537
The Canelo win is more about the circumstances. Crawford is 38 with mileage comparable to Canelo and was moving up multiple weight classes. Good fighters lose to very bad ones in circumstances like these

It's just fun to debate who's accomplishments are more impressive, makes you question what we value more in the sport.
Crawford's done some insane weight jumping and probably has the best individual wins of the 3 (Spence and Canelo both being top 5-10 p4p when he beat them), Inoue's also jumped weights but took the time to actually clear out his weight classes of contenders and done it in probably the most dominantly of all the 3, meanwhile Usyk probably just has the most overall well rounded resume of the 3, cleared out Cruiser then took on the biggest single weight jump in the sport available by moving to heavy and beat the best there while being undersized.
>>
>>150783695
The props for the Canelo win are just the idea of weight climbing and Canelo's name value alone, the substance of the win itself is not as impressive. Canelo is not a real 168 lber and only a middleweight tops despite bulking up, this isn't Bud going up for a young guy like Benavidez who while not as good as a prime Canelo is actually the weight and is young. Canelo landed flush and hurt Bud less than Madrimov did who is small for 154. He has no speed, power, or stamina anymore, he was falling over himself just trying to jump backwards to avoid a punch with how exhausted he was. Bud is past it as well at 38 but there's degrees of decline, Canelo has only retained status as king of 168 by cherry picking.

disappointing no knockdown but that was probably inoue's best decision finish since he started winning belts
fucked with him for 85% of the fight

I'm almost fully convinced that Crawford really whooped Mayweather in their dark sparring session like Davis hinted at.

I hate to give fuel to the furyspammers but Usyk's wins over Fury and AJ twice each were more impressive than Bud over Canelo. Fury is fat and over 260 lbs and had more speed and conditioning than Canelo did.

I'd give you that. I was expecting to see the Canelo we saw against GGG 1 and 2. It was a far cry and I don't think his body will ever reach that again.

With the combination of Usyk's prediction, and the always wrong nonce's prediction, of course it was going to be a Crawford win.
Thanks for the tip nonce, should I bet on whether it will snow this Christmas as well?

I was hoping we could see even half of that, but no all doubts about Canelo being washed, that Canelo was just coasting against B tiers or carrying guys like Munguia or that guys like Charlo were just running away, were all dispelled. He genuinely can't do it anymore. He really can't beat a guy like david among others at 168 anymore even though just 3-4 years back I think he would've decisively. People commented that he slimmed up even for this fight and he still couldn't bring it out of himself. I'm a little upset about the result of this fight not because Canelo was my favorite fighter but because he is a p4p talent and was completely hopeless to stop his humiliation ritual. I wanted a good fight between two p4p legends of the era and Canelo went out with a whimper.

Canelo has a history of coming up short in major moments. He's still an all-time-great, but his legacy definitely took a huge hit tonight.

>>150780384
Floyd did it easier, while Canelo was young and stronger and Floyd was old and about to retire. Floyd's stock went up tonight. We didn't know how special he was.

Can someone explain to me why nobody is suggesting the most obvious matchup ever?

Terence Crawford vs Olexander Usyk

Crawford goes up to Cruiserweight, Usyk comes back down.
Crawford had no trouble going up to super middleweight and becaming undisputed champion. Nobody else to fight in the division.
Usyk cleaned up heavyweight. The Parker fight is worthless because he has already beaten much better opponents. There is nothing left for him to do at heavyweight.

Both boxers 38 years old and nearing the end. Both undisputed champions across multiple weight divisions.

Fight of the century.
>>
>>150784299
I'd argue that the Crawford win was more impressive than the Floyd win based on the fact that Canelo was still extremely green (and weight drained because of rehydration clause nonsense) against Floyd while against Crawford he was vastly more experienced and stronger as a fighter
>>
What a shame we didn't get Floyd vs. Crawford.
>>
Canelo fought hard competition and did it in his own style. Can't take his contribution to boxing away from him. Old school knockout artist with a signature move he liked; ignored the developing boxing landscape of stick and move and stuck to his game plan to 64 wins and single digit losses.

Can take nothing away from him. He will go down as a top fighter.
>>
Bud would’ve tooled up Floyd in a very boring fight imo

How much stock did Canelos career take today losing to a Welterweight coming up 3 division?
>>
>>150784418
Hard disagree, I definitely think Canelo has been on the decline for a while now. I know Crawford is older, but not everybody ages the same. I also think Canelo's "greenness" is often over-stated, it was his 40-somethingth pro fight. Not to take anything from Bud, it was a 10/10 performance. I just think this highlights how good Mayweather really was. With guys like Canelo and Crawford, we ask 'are they all-time greats?". I think the answer is yes to both, btw (hard to argue Crawford isn't now). But with Floyd, the question is "was he the best to ever lace them up?".
>>
>>150784123
Even if GGG got the two wins he deserved, the win wouldn't have done as much for his legacy than the win Crawford just got. Everyone expected GGG to win the fights. No one expected Crawford to win.

Bivol was only cemented after his two victories over Butterbiev. People still expected Canelo to win but it was Bivol's weight class and he had all the advantages. Crawford moving straight to 168 was a lot more impressive
