Be honest, how many times have you switched club loyalty over the years?

I imagine there are plenty of former United fans that have switched over to City for example.
>>
I got one club i care about, inter, and maybe i prefer some clubs over others but whether they win or lose doesnt bother me
>>
>>150803027
I find switching clubs embarrassing (unless the club has a catastrophic meltdown and drops 3 tiers).
>>
I have supported Girona, then Levante, then Elche, then Zaragoza. Then, once Xumetra retired, I figured football wasn't worth following anymore.
>>
>>150790782
Unfortunately Arsenal infected me at a very young age, around Anfield '89 time, and hasn't let me go since.
>>
>>150790782
I semi-support my miserable local 2nd div team and bandwagon clubs with Portuguese players in them (except barca when they had a few, fuck them)

Never, really. My dad was born in one state, lived in another, and liked two other teams, so by the time I was born he had 4 teams (all from different states and tiers), and even though I grew up watching all 4 I only really connected with one, though I was happy when the other that sucked for so long finally won something.

Haven't genuinely cared about my club since high school, literally zero emotional attachment. still larp for social and irl shitposting purposes but couldn't give a fuck otherwise, I just love the game
>>
I just imagine all the cutest players wearing my beloved maple leafs jersey:)
>>
I didn't know I had a local team when I was really small; I thought the Premier League was all there was. So I went through a couple of teams before discovering My Team when I was probably 11 or 12.

My EPL allegiance progression: Arsenal -> Nottingham -> Brighton.

Arsenal because they were cool in Wenger era, Nottingham because of our owner guy, Brighton because of the seagull, the coastal town and overachieving even though I would prefer the southwest (but they don't have any premier league clubs)
>>
If you switch club loyalty, you fail the white test.

How does switching club loyalty even work, socially speaking?
Obviously your friends and peers know who you're a fan of, you hang out with other fans, wouldn't it be fucking awkward to just change allegiance?
You'd have to be in an environment where nobody supports the local club, or you can't have a regular social life

Bournemouth?

Never, I've been a Madrid fan since galacticos era
>>
My dad wasn't into football at all so when I first got into it at a very young age I supported Liverpool for about a year before I got into older childhood and realised that my local team would be a better idea as I could actually go to games. Never looked back and don't really have a fondness for Liverpool anymore.
>>
>>150815303
Yes that's an option too. I love those coastal English towns. My FM save has been with Eastbourne Borough
>>
I support whatever team won last
>>
Never. I remain loyal to Middlesbrough
>>
>>150790782
My family, on my mother's side wanted me to be a Benfica fan, and I was when I was very young, but I never really felt like one, so I ended up going with my dad's side of the family and chose to be a Porto fan.
No regrets.

>Be honest, how many times have you switched club loyalty over the years?
When I was a kid in the 90s I supported Man United because they won all the time, and similarly my brother supported Newcastle because they almost won the league that one time.
I switched to Liverpool when they signed Paul Ince in 1997, I don't know why but I thought he was cool. I became a fan of Michael Owen so I still followed Liverpool vaguely into the millenium.
But then in 2003 my dad started taking me to local club games and I switched for the final time at age 11 or 12. I am too ashamed of the above text to say which club it is but I've followed them through hell and back for 22 years.

Every year I pick a new club. This year like the last six it is Atalanta Bergamasca Calico. Or more succinctly ‘La Dea.’ Also Known on EAFC as ‘bergamo calico’. Yep I am pretty based. And I am sad that Joma is longer our kit sponsor. I’ve never visited the Gewiss but I will make the pilgrimage soon.

My gfs cousin married a sexy Brazilian this summer and these high energy whiteish Mediterraneans were shouting ‘Vi Corinthians’ the entire weekend so I g reds you could say I am now a Corinthians Chad. Will be in the south of Brazil this winter (summer to them) and will try to get some strange without my drunk gf noticing.

never because i'm not a whore
>>
>>150803057
american/chink ownership ruining the club is worse than dropping 3 tiers

Only brown people “switch clubs”. I’m a lifelong Leeds fan because they were the first team I brought back to glory in football manager 2008. Browns just can’t comprehend.

I've followed my club from the old division one in the 80s to the old 4th then back from there to the top half of premier league years later. Better stick with the one club or you're a npc.

If you don't even enjoy watching your team play, can you even call yourself a fan of them?
>>
>>150816080
Your story is very similar to mine, except I liked Aston Villa because I thought it was a funny name. Then I moved to Man Utd, and I think I still have a Man Utd scarf somewhere, despite having been a raging ABU for over 20 years now.

I was a Columbus Crew fan and I went to the Champions Cup final in Pachuca last year. I had a great time in the city and at the venue. The fans were very welcoming. For a variety of reasons, the Crew shit the bed. But the response of Crew fans everywhere online was so petty and gay and horrendous towards Pachuca. Combined with all the fag stuff in MLS anyway, I just decided that I really despised all the gay faggots who made up the Crew fanbase anyway so I just stopped being a Crew fan and watching MLS in general. But now I am a Pachuca fan.

Up the bastard Tigers.

I've seen them play everywhere from Scarborough to Slovakia. All four divisions, Wembley several times and a brief UEFA Europa League journey.

And I still love them. The shit cunts.

I never consciously chose a club, I just found myself a fan of a club at some point during elementary school. My family wasn't that much into football before and I also couldn't really go by locality
A lot of shit has happened since then, but I never even considered thinking about switching. It's about the most soulless thing imaginable, even worse than calling yourself a true fan of multiple clubs and supporting foreign clubs imho
>>
>>150790782
Your football team is like your sex. Its not assigned at birth its observed at birth. You can make a public display of yourself and larp as something else but every normal person is being polite and trying not to display their disgust when they attempt to not laugh at you.
>>
>>150833228

Always supported my local club, but since they play european competitions once in a blue moon, and I dont want to support Red Star or Partizan Belgrade, I had to pick one foreign club to follow and for me that was Athletic Bilbao because of the Basque only policy.
>>
>>150790782
I was a Chelsea fan as a kid. Loved watching Torres, Cech, Terry, Lampard, Drogba, etc. While the last remnants of that era died off I was a fan for a few years still but didn't have much interest. I haven't really supported any team since and watch football much more casually. Maybe I just got older but the idea of supporting a team at all just doesn't really appeal to me whether it be locally or internationally. Or maybe it's the state of the world. It's certainly not "my" country or "my" region or "my" club.
