Amorim is based. He's baiting the board into sacking him and they won't do it. Such a hilarious situation. This club is the gift that keeps on giving. You think it can't get any lower but then it keeps happening.
>>
>>150819269
yeah i always kinda thought they should just do all the qualifying games in one period, i guess it'd take like a month or two, then smooth sailing club football the rest of the way, but they probably don't make as much money that way or whatever

The Disgrace of Coventry counts under 10 Hag’s stats; Amorim’s record in domestic cups actually looks pretty close now that i put it down:
>knocked out of league cup by spurs
>beat arsenal on pens (lmao)
>scam past leicester with last minute offside goal
>lose to fulham on pens
>lose to grimsby on pens
>>
ole fresh from his besiktas stint surely cant do worse?
>>
>Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes the club messed up badly with their summer transfer strategy and lack the quality needed to fit manager Ruben Amorim's controversial 3-4-3 system.

>The Old Trafford side have made their poorest start to a league season since 1992-93 with four points from the opening four games.

>United's internal analysis concluded they would get greater improvement for their investment if they targeted the forward positions over the summer.

>But despite spending £200m on Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, so far they have only scored four Premier League goals - two of which were own goals.

>Despite the growing external unease around Amorim, not helped by United's 3-0 derby defeat by Manchester City on Sunday, senior officials remain fully supportive of the Portuguese.

>As was the case after last month's shock Carabao Cup exit at League Two Grimsby, they remain convinced Amorim is the right man to restore the club's fortunes and prefer to look at the long-term picture rather than be swayed by current results.

LMAO

Luke Shaw was there when van Gaal started. World record transfer fee for a teenager. Man U then broke their own record again by signing Martial (lol) a year later

Him and Maguire have been getting away with it because they bother when it comes to playing for England

>Ekitike is playing well enough
>Have to bench him for the other expensive player you bought this summer
>Or put Ekitike on the wing where he won't perform
>Or put Isak on the wing where he'll be angry
Slot really is a genius when you think about it. Usually a manager will come in and have to make do with what they've got so they end up playing players out of position to try and get their "philosophy" or "preferred style of playing" "drilled" in. Slot has spent £500m to upset the apple cart and play players out of position instead. Just as well he has PGMOL to rescue him.
>>
>>150828377
Feels really weird to buy Isak for that much when Ekiteke had already hit the ground running but I guess they just wanted to be doubly sure that they had strikers because the striker market was looking awful.
Was there any news on why Isak missed the game against Burnley btw? Is he injured already or is it because he didn't have a preseason with Liverpool?

Neymar was excellent at both Barca and PSG. People overlook his contributions because of his lengthy injuries and his playboy lifestyle outside the sport but he was a seriously world class player in his prime with just under a goal contribution per game at Barca (0.97) and over at PSG (1.14).

As for Mbappe he received a €150m signing on fee because of the free transfer. But that's basically the money they would've paid for his transfer.

We need to be realistic here. We caught lightning in a bottle with Mo. Despite us being linked with big name and proven world class players every year none of them ever join us. We've obviously had world class players like Mo, Suarez, Xabi etc. But Mo was a flop at Chelsea so no one wanted him. Suarez was a punt because he was coming from the Eredivisie. No one wanted Xabi for some reason. Mo is the only one who stayed loyal. All of the others have jumped ship to what people would probably class as "bigger" clubs once people seen they weren't shit. They used us as a stepping stone. Suarez, Xabi, Torres, Owen, McManaman, Murphy, Baros, Coutinho, Can, and Wjinaldum, all left when a "big club" came in for them and the ones of those we signed who didn't come through our academy we only managed to sign because there was no competition for them from other clubs.

This is all to say that our spine of Mo (31), VVD (32), and Alisson (31) are aging and I'm sorry but Mo and VVD haven't been at the level they should be for a club of our stature this season. That indicates to me that they're not the players they once were because they're aging. Alisson still has years left but Mo and VVD...who do you replace them with when FSG won't give any money and no one wants to join? We got publicly snubbed by Caicedo for fucking Chelsea. That's one of the lowest points I've experienced of being a Reds fan.
Kloppo knows this too and that's why he's leaving. He knows he can't get anyone of the same calibre as prime Mo and prime VVD. That's before you even get into having to build a whole new midfield with no money! He's jumping ship too because he knows he can't compete anymore and doesn't want to tarnish his reputation.
FFS we can't even attract a MANAGER! Amorim, RDZ, Thomas Frank, and Xabi have all snubbed us. We're finished I think.

Call me what you like but you can't say I'm not realistic because every word I've just typed is 100% true.

Will liverpool be like real madrid in 2021/22 where they play like shit but still win everything?
Or will their luck run out the moment they face a decent team? I believe arsenal couldnt beat them because slotball isnt countered by arteta's terroristball. So what could it be?

sharteta played for a draw for some reason. this side is all hype and marketing, i reckon any side in the league could take them. the slip'll be on before december imo
>>
>>150830181
Arsenal couldn't beat them because they were missing Saka, Ødegaard and Saliba while Liverpool played their best team. Take Salah, Mac Allister and Van Dijk from Liverpool and I bet Arsenal would have a high chance of winning.
>>

If you notice the majority of United managers since SAF have been dogshit and they only look partway decent because the refs carry them. The second that refball drops they get exposed and sacked.
>>
>>150830459
Yeah. The real reason why Man Utd dropped off is the introduction of VAR. It is harder to cheat (not impossible though)

Exclusive

▪Secert operation called ‘International reset’ in play

▪Senior players expecting the sack news

According to our sources that @ManUtd have secret plans to sack Ruben Amorim in the October international break or if the results don’t improve dr𝐚stic𝐚lly.

There 𝐚re even secret documents outlining the next steps once that decision is made. It seems like certain senior players are already anticipating his exit, which adds a layer of tension to the squad.

As exclusively revealed by us already, the club has a shortlist ready with names like Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola.

The tensions are at boiling point in the boardroom.

Justified or not they played against 10 men for 42 minutes which is the whole point. You don't need to get upset, CK. Those clubs listed are the only ones who've played against 10 men this season. Including clubs with 0 minutes would have been ruddy well redundant.

>At his pre-match news conference Slot pointed out that Liverpool's unprecedented spending was offset by more than £250m recouped in sales, having spent just £10m the previous summer.

>"There is so much focus on our new signings, especially from pundits that favour some other clubs in the country that cannot stop talking about £450m," Slot said. "I repeat, £450m, £450m! But they forget about [nearly] £300m that we have sold [players] for. So, yes, if we want to strengthen the squad we need to spend that much money."

I think the problem is that Kloppo (presumably with help from "the gang") sold absolute dogshit using an FSG FFP workaround and Liverpool customers and pundits (ex-Liverpool players) acted like he had just sold off the 2010 Barca squad only to replace them with the threepeat Madrid squad at a fraction of the cost. In reality he sold off Port Vale tier players and broke transfer records to sign replacements.
>>
>>150836890
But net spend accounts for that still
>>
>>150836922
But it still means absolutely nothing. The only people who give a crud about net spend are the club owners and professional cope artists.
>>
>>150836922
Doesn't really have the same effect when it's the most successful club in English football bleating on about it as if they're the size of Luton.
>>
>>150836890
i don't really remember pundits acting like klopp sold off the 2010 barca squad. he did sell some shitters for good money though. i mean the whole "net spend" narrative with klopp revolves almost entirely around coutinho and how that more or less offset the purchases of van dijk and alisson

>Manchester United would have to pay Ruben Amorim £12million if they sack the Portuguese coach within the first year of his contract at Old Trafford.
>The United hierarchy continue to back Amorim and are refusing to panic despite the club’s worst start to a league season in 33 years.
>United appointed Amorim on November 1 last year on a two-and-a-half-year deal worth £6.5m-a-season with the option of a 12-month extension, after agreeing to pay Sporting Lisbon £9.2m to buy him out of his contract in Portugal.
>It’s understood that the 40-year-old would pocket £12m if he is axed before his first anniversary in the job, which is in less than seven weeks’ time.

There's something about Arsenal that simply attracts minorities, and I don't just think it's because of ethnic role models, all teams have black players. Arsenal down the years have been more iconic than most though with the likes of Ian Wright and Thierry Henry but I think it's more to do with the culture of Arsenal.

Most of the other London clubs are more tribal, Arsenal have always been generic and have always in my time watching football had the most lifeless, passionless fans in English football, even in the height of football passion in the late 80's they were winning the odd title and it still got the name the Highbury library. This made Arsenal an attractive proposition for Indian, black and muslim supporters because of the nature of the club, the placid way of the support, and the upper class profile of the fanbase comparatively speaking, I mean for fuck sake could you imagine someone with a turban sitting in the Chicken Run at West Ham in the late 80's?

It's the nature of the club that is the reason for this, and now 90% of ethnics support Arsenal which is why I would suggest that they have double the fanbase of anyone else in London.

You know when a club starts falling from grace and even the fans say "we need to get relegated so we can ditch the deadwood and rebuild"? That's the situation United are in, but because the PL won't let them get relegated they just keep adding deadwood to the deadwood.
The only way out of it is to buy players with "moxy" who are looking to prove something. Generally with these players they have lower wages, which is something that also gives them an incentive to play better (they'll be rewarded with a bigger contract). In other words the kind of players clubs buy after they've been relegated and had a "reset".
Instead, even when United identify this type of player, they overpay for them and put them on £300kpw from the get go. So they stay shit. Everyone else they get is some hasbeen looking for a final payday.
If they'd left Mou in charge, accepted that they'd be shit for a few years while they rebuilt then they'd already be out of this situation. But because they need to placate the customers they've been shit for about 15 years and have not only shown no signs of improvement they're actually getting worse.
No matter what period of history
(since 1992) you look at, all you can really say is that they deserve it.

>A big match to get started! By chance of the draw, AS Monaco’s 2024-2025 Champions League campaign will begin with a big game against FC Barcelona on Thursday, September 19 (kick-off 9 p.m.). So to get the league phase of the Centenary season off to the best possible start, the Rouge et Blanc will try to repeat their Joan Gamper Trophy win (an 0-3 victory) in front of their home crowd.

>No other games in Uefa competitions - Europa or Conference League - will be scheduled.

After Covid, and including now the latest 3-0 loss to Man City, Manchester United have a goal difference of +1 over 156 games.

This is on par with Fulham, Brentford and Crystal Palace over the same period.
Below Brighton and Villa: +15, 21 respectively.
Below Tottenham and Newcastle and Chelsea, around +60.
Below Arsenal and Liverpool and Man City: around +200.

Man U’s goal difference since covid is closer to West Ham’s at -41 than it is to any of the top 6.
