Shame they've just gone off for rain and it's probably going to piss it down for the rest of the day

>>150887310
If Zachy had ever been to Vietnam he'd know it's got top-tier food
He's probably just tried a bowl of bland pho from some shitty chain over here, or something like that
Unfortunately, he lost the lust for life and won't ever travel outside the UK anymore

Hanoi really did grow on me despite having gooks on mopeds running you over in every direction any time you dared to step outside

hanoi, ha long bay, sapa, ninh binh, ha giang loop
>>

>>
>>150887746
Ha Giang Loop is a very good motorbike route, and you don't have to drive them yourself - just join a group tour with an "easy rider" (local who drives while you're on the back) and you get to chill out and take in the scenery more

Ha Long Bay / Ninh Binh also has some very beautiful scenery, although it's quite touristy

Food scene in Hanoi is very good, think Anthony Bourdain used to rave about it

Ho Chi Minh city has better nightlife and also more of the war / history stuff, but otherwise the north is better

Sebbo m8, what do you think of my planned India / Nepal route? Missing out any absolute gems?

>>
>>150891600
that’s an incredible itinerary, fella ngl
i really hope you’ve planned at least a month for it so you can take it all in properly
>>
>>150891654
Cheers la. Got five weeks in total. Timed it so we get Diwali in Varanasi (although may still change it up and aim for Jaipur instead, see how it goes). Doing 7 days for the Annapurna trek, which obviously eats up a bit of time. Still trying to work out whether to rent a tuk-tuk to drive between Chennai and Kochi or if that's a stupid idea.
>>
Would personally drop Agra (not worth the aggro of all the illegal b*ngladeshi beggars) and go to Ellora Caves and Mahabaleshwar. Navratri next week and Diwali mid-Oct

there's a few contenders for reddit: the travel destination but bindia is certainly in the mix

Afraid so la
Time the trip for my birthday ever year because the idea of toiling on my birthday is GRIM
Managed to plan my previous itineraries so that my last two birthdays were spent at Machu Picchu and Angkor Wat, but that's been a bit more difficult this time - current plan is to spend it driving a tuk-tuk on a busy road between Chennai and Puducherry
>>
Tried arranging a big old-fashioned piss-up for my 30th birthday but none of my """friends""" could make it (apparently two weeks notice isn't enough once people are past the age of 27)

Had to embrace the solo travel gimmick after that to keep from having utterly depressing birthdays

>>150892122
That's what I ended up doing on my 30th and it was ok, but it's not like all your family member is going to take leave and travel somewhere together just to spend time with you on your birthday desu. To them it's just like any other day, when toil responsibilities loom large. Will always want to spend Christmas with family, but I find it better to travel and do something interesting on birthdays

Have found a place in Chennai which does them, wouldn't have been in the itinerary otherwise desu

>>
it's joever. they've started playing a test match
just thinking about bard neekily cycling back in a rush not to miss the start of play and this is what he gets :^)
>>
>>150894359
>Kashif Ali
Very dangerous when he gets going, is susceptible to innings like this where he eats up balls and then gets out cheaply

>Jake Libby
Very good for going along at a run a ball, but that won't be enough here

>Rob Jones
Fairly good for going along at a run a ball, but that won't be enough here

>Ethan Brookes
Possibly the most talented batsperson, could single-handedly win the game if he gets his eye in

>Henry Cullen
Fairly good for going along at a run a ball, but that won't be enough here

>Waite, Allison, Taylor
Can all hold a bat (particularly Waite) and might be trusted to make 20-30, but wouldn't rely on them under pressure

>Shahzad
Bloody useless bat, genuine 11

So basically we'll need either Kashif or Brookes to go big

Umm so how come Canada have such a good women's rugby union team but still aren't a test cricket nation?

Rome is not eternal; it does not matter. Rome will fall; it does not matter. The barbarian will conquer; it does not matter. There was a moment of Rome, and it will not wholly die; the barbarian will become the Rome he conquers; the language will smooth his rough tongue; the vision of what he destroys will flow in his blood. And in time that is ceaseless as this salt sea upon which I am so frailly suspended, the cost is nothing, is less than nothing.

I'm watching the 1st season of The Wire and I just got done watching the episode where DeAngelo teaches the younger kids chess. I was blown away! I had to watch it a couple times to really pick up on it, but did you guys realize that when he was teaching them about the chess pieces, he was really referring to THEM being the pawns!

It was so deep and meaningful, I am amazed by the deep symbolism of this.

Do the later seasons continue on with masterful symbolism like this? This was truly the pinnacle of storytelling that I have ever seen on a television show, and I think I can confidently say The Wire is the best show ever made without even having seen the entire series.

The acting is great too. Dominic West and Idris Elba really do a great Baltimore accent.

>The barren islets off Luderitzbucht were natural concentration camps. Walking among huddled forms in the evening, distributing blankets, food and occasional kisses from the sjambok, you felt like the father colonial policy wanted you to be when it spoke of Vaterliche Zuchtigung; fatherly chastisement, an inalienable right. Their bodies, so terribly thin and slick with cloud, lay drawn together to pool what marginal warmth was left to them. Here and there a torch of bound reeds soaked in whale oil hissed bravely in the fog. A swaddled silence would be over the island, nights like that: if they complained, or had to cry for some lesion or cramp, it was baffled by the thick mists and all you heard was the tide, slapping ever sideways along the strand, viscous, reverberating; then seltzering back to sea, violently salt, leaving a white skin on the sand it hadn't taken. And only occasionally above the mindless rhythm, from across the narrow strait, aver on the great African continent itself, a sound would arise to make the fog colder, the night darker, the Atlantic more menacing: if it were human it could have been called laughter, but it was not human. It was a product of alien secretions, boiling over into blood already choked and heady; causing ganglia to twitch, the field of night-vision to be grayed into shapes that threatened, putting an itch into every fiber, an unbalance, a general sensation of error that could only be nulled by those hideous paroxysms, those fat, spindle-shaped bursts of air up the pharynx, counter-irritating the top of the mouth cavity, filling the nostrils, easing the prickliness under the jaw and down the center-line of the skull: it was the cry of the brown hyena called the strand wolf, who prowled the beach singly or with companions in search of shellfish, dead gulls, anything flesh and unmoving.

The thing about the wire is that it wears it's flaws well. This was a total misscast and he should have been played by the actor who played Chris partlow, but you don't hear me going on about it
Sopranos is good don't get me wrong, but it's more of a soap opera, not particularly gripping
>>
bet if you rewatched the wire now you'd think it was bang average

so excited to see one battle after another
all the talk is that it is the film of a generation
pta just "inspired" by vineland for it not trying to make a film around a fundamentally unfilmable author
only concerned that it stars leonardo di caprio who routinely ruins films (was very good in once upon a time in hollywood though have not seen killers of the flower moon yet)

doesn't constantly blowing smoke up your own arse get in the way of your enjoyment of media? are you able to enjoy something without a nagging grinding of cogs reminding you to mention this to someone? is it some mentality of being so unsure of one's experiences that your consumption of media may not even exist if you don't tell people about it?

going to see him here in aus
saw him in 2022 with johnny greenwood playing bass for him such a good show
>>
bit strange though
he was playing carnage stuff and lots of boomers were there wanting to hear into my arms or some shit. were literally walking out in anger while he was doing his modern stuff. one woman yelled out demanding he play john finn's wife and he went "no that song is so old" and she got angry and left
>>
literally did not have a guitar in the band so I'm not sure what she was expecting

Yeah definitely acknowledging the bass is very basic at the moment.
7th chords are a crutch for me, they're by far my quality and I generally tend to find my tracks gravitate towards them

Based (i'd post my cover of Funny Thing but can't due to the englunder shitters itching for my voice to dox me) honestly really like your voc . Thundercat just released a couple new trscks btw

If you want to break off from maj7 there's always maj9, 6/9, mu major (add2), m9, m11 and 13th. This might be useful (i'm just a six string strummer not a reader)
