Logano won the pole today at 29.159 and was nearly two tenths (!) faster than the field. For added context, in September 2014 Brad Keselowski set the track record with a 27.09. We're running over 2 seconds slower now.

SVG was a bit off the pace, but horrible strategy fucked him more than anything else. He was on the wrong side of 2/3 strats in the first round. Worst part is that this round sets up very well for Trackhouse. NH where Ross tire tested, road course where Trackhouse is as good as anyone, and a high speed cookie cutter at Kansas which is the program's bread and butter. I expect Ross to easily transfer, but for tomorrow the only question is which Penske car wins. Word 'round the garage is they found something at that tire test and are just better than the rest of the field.

I'm glad Deegan's daughter has no talent because he taught his kids to be even bigger pieces of shit than Ty Gibbs. If you knocked everything off the front of a superbike you'd be fucked but I would imagine production class bikes tend to not have a lot up there besides the dash and lap timer and still have most of their electronics back in the sub-frame. I mean if you had money for even full data acquisition and/or a fancy race dash you'd have money for an oversized gas tank to go to superstock (of course somebody who could race superstock dropping down to get a trophy is probable but superstock electronics aren't that fancy to begin with)

Brazil frens, does this team have merch? Also, when did they switch from the domestic Chassis to the Ligier?
>>
>>150917731
It's team BTZ, don't think they have it.
They changed to a Ligier like two years ago.

Very few teams are using domestic chassis since they implemented new aero and weight rules, so Ligiers are being bought by pretty much everyone.
>>
>>150917838
you should organize a ligier race
with the other ligiers
>>
>>150917867
After the rule change, it's pretty much what became, there are more Ligiers on the grid than AJR's or Sigmas, actually Sigma pretty much pulled out of Endurance Brasil because of that since they got fucked the most.

There's also the rumor that Ligier themselves are gonna start making a "Brasil Spec" of the PS320, with updated Aero and a Chevy V8 for easier maintenance.
>>

Man, that's a double shame. I really like that color scheme and it would make make for a really cool hat or shirt.
Also, while I'm not a huge fan of the center line driving position for what is nominally a sports car, I do like things that are unique and different, especially when it's regionally specific and the domestic cars definitely fall under that category.

The ones that they run here are the "TrackDay" variant, but some teams swapped for an Chevy LS since the Nissan one is more expensive maintenance-wise.

Tecnically the P1 class sits right between LMP3 and LMP2 in terms of performance.

Sigma themselves got their own "one-make" series which will debut next year.

It's just some sensors, on a street bike I mean yeah they wouldn't have brake lever pressure, steering angle or suspension travel but mostly they would just have them bundled together in one flimsy sub-harness threaded through the entire frame with those miserable automotive connectors instead of individual aircraft quick disconnects so it isn't such a bitch to fix anything.

I have worked in the automotive industry and I promise you, I know the lay of the land.
Yes, the LMDh cars are especially outsourced on design and development, but the money fags don't really care about that. They care about brand recognition and engagement and """activations"""" and if they don't get what they want (caviar and under aged girls, probably) then you don't have a racing program.
IMSA (NASCAR (the France family)) is catering to them by cock blocking smaller manufacturers. Don't forget, the whole thing is a big car commercial.

If they did that they couldn't cleanly split the wins between Jim's friends and one pity win for BMW. Remember almost every IMSA GTP team is on NASCAR's good boy list for people to give a charter if the NASCAR team owners ever grew a spine even though they aren't especially qualified to race stock cars.
>>
>>150920781
The Valkyrie took a weird path to becoming a race car. Aston was onboard for the original Hypercar formula, but realized there were more hot dogs and cheese pizza in F1, so they abandoned the race project, but decided to try to make a barely legal road/track car out of it. Then, Saint Gaben of Steam decided to indulge his son's interest in racing and gave us what very likely will be the last V12 race care ever.

I'd argue that Rexy has more broader appeal that may range from people wishing to imitate the livery on their cars (and AO Racing's PR department self-immolating over it) to a surface-level appreciation of 'heh, cool dinosaur car', while the Migu Merc has a far narrower appeal group (weebs who know what a Haytsoon Meekoo even is) that will naturally be more dedicated, hence Miku itashas.
Working off that, I don't think classic liveries like Rothmans, Martini Racing or Marlboro are memorable because they appeal to a demographic of smokers or drinkers so much that they are striking, aesthetically appealing liveries that also happen to reflect the branding of those companies.
They also happened to be generally attached to cars that were highly successful in one discipline or another, so there is an element of competitive success that has to be factored in.
I think Rexy has*more *potential* of being remembered by the general zeitgeist, while the Migu Merc *will* be remembered by those who fit the niche that the livery appeals to, if that makes any sense.

I think you are pretty spot on with your assessment, but I'd add that
>Rothmans, Martini Racing or Marlboro
were extremely carefully crafted brand images that were successful to begin with then skillfully applied to cars. It was also a time when a single sponsor could carry most of the team as opposed to having to sell every inch of bodywork to small time partners, so they had a much cleaner appearance.

It is outright one of the longest running successful GT teams in history. I mean TeamUkyo is not yet anywhere near the sheer longevity of Impul, SARD, TOM'S, etc. generally, but as far as being the same team with the same sponsor for 15 years, the same driver pairing for 13 years, even the same fricking race queen for 12 years there are scant examples of that kind of continuity in motorsport.

nice chatgpt comeback, but your claim is the one standing on straws given it goes against pretty much everything from what the people involved say to the actual facts and even historical records imsa being left to itself to run their domestic series to their rules (this is why for example there was no convergence for a long time)
Even (not that it's some deciding factor) the burger heavy thread consensus was on that it's an imsa rule until you nigged out:D
>>
>>150937480
That's very much true, I just struggled to properly put into words the idea that it wasn't necessarily those brands being tobacco or alcohol-related (or rather, appealing to a specific demographic) that made them memorable; it was the merits of the designs themselves and, of course, the success of the cars bearing them.

>>150937577
I mean, I did not wish to imply that they aren't or do not have the capacity to be successful or to gain recognition from that success - I wanted to try and get across that when breaking it down, 'car with the mouth of a cartoon t-rex' has more potential to imprint itself into the memories of a wider audience (i.e. normies who generally know what a t-rex is and what it looks like) than 'japanese vocaloid itasha', which will engender greater dedication from those who are "in the know" and are thusly drawn to it. In essence, a dichotomy between something with mainstream appeal and a cult icon (once again, not to imply that the latter somehow cannot achieve the former - this is what I sort of wanted to emphasize by mentioning the element of competitive success.)

It hurts. Loved this lil' nigga like you wouldn't believe.
Any boomers remember when 125cc and 250cc were taken seriously? Don't seem to get that with Moto3 and Moto2 that are considered glorified feeder series rather than world championships in their own right.

This was the year I became aware that motorcycle racing existed, iirc that year Speed TV in cringeada was showing the previous GP's highlights after F1 races on Sundays so I'd stay in front of the TV and watch those too when mom wasn't looking, lel. Happy days
Spinning off 125cc and 250cc into Moto2 and Moto3 was objectively degenerate, inshallah one day they will be the legitimate categories they deserve to be again

>Theoretically, this could enable the current LMH manufacturers to design their own chassis, but restrict them to bringing a rear-mounted MGU if a hybrid was the chosen route. Whether or not each factory would need to utilise a spec hybrid spine is up for debate, but in general, by removing the variables thrown up by a field featuring two and four wheel drive prototypes, the belief is that the Hypercar class would be significantly easier to balance.
Of course this is funny to me because only Toyota and Peugeot are actually using unique chassis anyways. This is of course also complete nonsense because for most of this season a 4WD car has had both the best and worst BoP by a large margin.

On the upside everyone IN the series seems to recognize BoP doesn't fucking work and intend to use either a MotoGP or Super GT type of system which should be more than enough with how insanely tightly regulated Hypermeme is but their retarded corporate marketing slavemasters are still whipping them into voting to keep it.

Dallara, Multimatic. The latter is pretty obvious in general but you can see the Cadillac, BMW, and Ferrari all have the same trapezoidal roof light (particularly), roof tri-duct, and cockpit venting scheme for example, there's just a bunch of finnicky shit done with the doors and the way the cars are painted to make them look different. Well it's public record the Ferrari is a Dallara chassis regardless they just want to be as evasive as possible about how similar it is to the LMDh cars to keep their value high.

if you actually read the link you posted it's talking about LMDh, and the rules are the same with the ACO/WEC. LMH doesn't have that requirement. it's just nobody (before Aston) chose to run an LMH in IMSA because most of the makers of LMH machinery don't sell their cars to privateers, and IMSA forbids full factory teams.

I'm mainly an F1 bro and with all its schizo and shitposting - and while I mostly just lurk - this place is more reasonable and produces better takes than the anglo F1 forums I've tried, since they tend to be full of copium addicts who don't seem to want to do much but bukkake whoever's driving that year for their team (read: McLaren)
And then you have leddit which is a total non-starter, it's even worse because of the voting system and, you know, the populace itself
In conclusion, this is quite a comfy thread
