>3 straight 100+ loss seasons including setting the record for most losses at 121
NOW will the league step in and do something already?
>>
>>150980988
Has any other team in the history of sports ever lost over 100 games 3 years in a row?
>>
>>150980988
It's too bad the Rockies are ending up with a few more wins, they totally deserve the WOAT season designation this year
>>
>>150980988
Never, not even the lockout and the fallout from it will change shit.
>>
>>150980988
Relocate them to Nashville already
>>
>>150981044
doubtful, other countries sport often have league with relegation so the competition got easier
>>
Should have a Cockies/Blight Sux anti-world series

we don't have a league pyramid system you stinky smelly mark
>>
>>150984751
not that anon, but baseball does indeed have a pretty obvious pyramid
AAA, AA, High A, Low A, and there's even independent leagues
you don't think a city like, off the top of my head, in the northeast where I live, cities like Buffalo, Allentown, Worcester, or Hartford would kill to get promoted to the Major Leagues while teams that don't even try like the Chisox, Rockies and Marlins go down?
Why are they just perpetually allowed to print revenue-sharing money? It's nonsense and basically theft, they need to be shown there's consequences for their actions

I know there's a lot of issues, like affiliate links with big clubs, but there's ways to make that work- soccer has plenty of B teams and youth leagues, for example, and the NBA has a development league too

tldr: it can work, and it would be excellent for baseball, but good luck making the ***owners*** kill their cash cow
>>
>>150984785
those teams are affiliated with MLB teams to develop prospects it's not the same thing
>>
>>150984785
The pyramid system for baseball is meant for players, not teams. Almost always, residents of those smaller cities with low A, high A, AA and AAA teams are fans of the closest major league team. (For instance, I live in New England, and those who live in Manchester NH - home of the Fisher Cats, the Blue Jays’ affiliate - are fans of the Red Sox). The Major League just simply has too large a grasp on the baseball world. If 3 teams get regulated and 3 AAA teams get promoted, that would cause too large of a shakeup — do fans follow their hometown minor league team that’s now in the Bigs, or the team that their players get called up to, or the major league team that they’ve truly been rooting for all their life?
>>
>>150984730
No one would want to buy a team that loses out on broadcasting money when going to a lower league
>>
>>150984997
Which is why its impossible to sell football clubs, right? No, half of everyone's pyramid outside of Germany are owned by american/chinese/russian/gulf state investment groups that only bought in over the last fifteen years. Why even say something that is so easily demonstrably false?
>>
>>150980988
>step in and do something
Why? Everyone that matters is still making money.
>>
>>150984742
You're an idiot. Without relegation look at what happens as a result
>>150980988
>>
>>150984806
If relegation was introduced, that could easily be adjusted. Other sports "minor" leagues change affiliated big league clubs all the time
>>
>>150985150
The top 2nd tier soccer leagues have around 10x the average attendance of minor league baseball.
>>
>>150985253
okay go build 70 new stadiums with MLB required capacity buddy

They still have higher attendance than both Florida teams. When will leages stop giving Florida so many teams? Every league has 3 or 4 Florida teams, and they are always in the bottom 5 of attendance every single year. The Florida sports expirement needs to come to an end once and for all. For nearly 40 years, they have been trying to make Florida sports a real thing.
>>
>>150985269
Okay why don't we just have teams just constantly lose over 100 games every year and not even try driving down competitive integrity and interest in the sport
Consider the alternatives
>>
>>150985321
Maybe there are other ways to make teams try to be competitive other than pro/rel. Might be worth thinking about.
>>
>>150985304
How can there be 1.4million suckers watching such putrid garbage?
>>
>>150980988
The fact that Jerry still thinks he can get the city and the state to pay him to build a new stadium or leave is hilarious.
>>
>>150985374
I would bet 70% of that is bars and restaurants that just need something on.
>>
>>150985435
I'm pretty sure anon posted attendance (total), not TV viewers
>>
>>150985444
oh, in that case business outings for dirt cheap
>>
>>150981044
Yeah the Rockies have just done the same as the white Sox in that regard. This year’s version didn’t quite surpass the 2024 record for losses, but they do have far and away the worst run differential since. The 1800s.

>>

It's a non-starter for the current league structure and it's never going to happen. Billions of dollars are invested into all 30 MLB orgs every year, they won't cave to what Redditors desire.
>>
>>150985257
where are you getting that number from?
Most AAA teams can draw somewhere in the ballpark of 7,000-12,000 fans per game, and they play 75 home games per season.
Second tier soccer clubs are selling 7.5 million tickets per season?

need to dust this old thing off
>>
>>150981044
The astros did that too
>>
>>150986100
I'm talking about average per game. I understand why total for the season is an important number but I think per-game makes more sense when we're talking about relative drop-off from the top tier.
Average for AAA is 5,600 (vs 29,300 for MLB). Average for 2. Bundes is 28,800 (vs 42k for Bundes). Average for the Championship is 22,700 (vs 39.5k for EPL).
So I was wrong, it's more like 5X, not 10X. But that's still a significant amount.
>>
>>150985416
It's already confirmed he's getting a new stadium. Jerry won, taxpayers lost.
>>
>clear by game 2 that the team is absolute garbage and the season is a write-off
>160 more games to go
>>
>>150987474
Jerry? When did you're grandchildren teach you hoe to use a computer?
>>
>>150985328
Such as...?
>>
oh look to the surprise of absolutely no one they're losing again already
>>
I watched them play for 10 minutes and already can't stand it how do fans endure 162 games of this?
>>
>>150980988
How about Manfred contracts the team?
>>
>>150980988
This isn't baseball. It's barely even minor league baseball
>>
>>150985304
>Rays relocate to somewhere else outside of Florida.
>Miami Marlins become Florida Marlins again and then move them to the middle of the state (Orlando)
>Make the current owners sell to people that actually give a shit about building a good team
There, Florida finally has a team with good attendance.
