I stopped taking him seriously once I noticed how hellbent he is on that GOAT status. He's been chasing superteams, acting like a diva, got extreme ref bonus calls. I don't know when, but it eventually started looking like a forced narrative mostly LeBron himself actually believes in

This "The Decision" film was so insane and embarrassing that it's hard to believe. It just makes him look completely soulless. I kind of get being an upcoming superstar, being unhappy with your rather small market team, and believing "I can do better than that, I should do better than that" - but I can't understand turning every step along the way into a show for the camera and then doing it again and again. He hopped from team to team to chase that status as if it wasn't a career but a video game. Back to Cleveland to "complete the story" and save face for his legacy, and then to the Lakers to stand in that long line of glory and attention. And all that road is paved with shitty calls and things like the quarantine tournament that are impossible to take seriously
Incredible talent, longevity, ambition. It's all fine. But he somehow still ended up making it look a bit pathetic, as undeniable as his greatness is. It's hard to consider someone like that the best ever

In terms of raw numbers, LeBron just doesn't have the MVPs, doesn't have the Championships, and doesn't have the Finals MVPs.

Like, everybody made a big deal of him passing Kareem for all-time points scored. But Kareem has six rings and six MVPs, to go along with his two Finals MVPs. His stats are great but he was also a winner, a way better winner than LeBron ever was. He even has his solo ring with Milwaukee for anyone who said he couldn't win without the Lakers.

Everybody ahead of LeBron on the GOAT list has more rings than him. That's all there is to it. Jordan does, Kareem does, Duncan does, Magic does. Championships matter more for individual players in the NBA than in most other leagues since an individual elilte player can alter the nature of a team so much more than in other sports. And LeBron doesn't have enough.
>>
>>151150863
LeBron also has a losing Finals record against every single other all time great he's played against. You could make an argument he's not even the best player of his generation, especially if Curry manages to get another ring.

No one tries to emulate LeBron either, there's nothing unique about his game that sets him apart from anyone else. He just does what he does because he's the most physically gifted player in league history. Iverson turned guards into iso scorers, Kobe and Jordan set the standard for how wings should play, Curry turned the league into pace and space twinkball memechuck. LeBron has changed nothing because you can't copy being 6'9 250 with the speed and jumping ability he has.

Because LeBron demands the ball in his hands the whole game and gets all of his coaches fired when LeBronball doesn't work. LeBron being a team player is the biggest midwit box score watcher take in all of basketball. He racks assists up by being the only player on his team allowed to handle the ball and relegates everyone else to catch and shoot roleplayers. There's a reason why Chris Bosh and Kevin Love regressed under Lebron while Shaq turned from a ball hog playoff choker into the best peak in basketball history and Pau went from a fringe all-star player to the second best big man of his generation.

If you watch Kobe from 2005 to 2010. Watch his 81 point game, his 62 in three quarters game, his 50 point streak, his later playoff series in the Western Conference and not come to the conclusion that he's the greatest scorer in basketball history than you're not a ball knower. Shaq had a textbook post skill set that any basketball player at any age can learn from. No shit they can't emulate being a 7'2 310lbs freak of nature, but they can emulate his footwork, his floor positioning and off-ball work, how he handles double teams and traffic. If he was just average size for an NBA center, he'd still be as good as guys like David Robinson and Moses Malone.

Correct and it’s because Lebron had no exceptional skill that transcended his era and changed the league. At his best, Lebron is just a really, really good basketball player who is great at nothing and doesn’t have the hyper competitive mindset of a Jordan that Kobe tried to emulate or the ultimate teammate mindset of a Duncan.

Unironically the Luka trade. LeBron needs another championship as a true #1 alpha, undisputed franchise player and face of the team to pass MJ and that's no longer possible with the Lakers or really any other contemporary title contender. He won a Finals off of them. They were at an even 1-1.
>>kek'd by the Mavs
Yeah.
>>dominated by the Warriors
I love how people just ignore context when it comes to the Warriors and act like he just choked. In 2015, he was down Kyrie and Love and still did everything he could possibly do to keep them in the series. In 2016, the only time it was actually even, he beat them. In 2017 and 2018, they added Kevin Durant. Nobody was beating that fucking team, not sure why you all act like it was some failure on Lebron's part when he was simply way overmatched.
>>kek'd by the Nuggets
The fact that he's in the twilight of his career and you still hold him to that standard says everything about him.

If you consider Lebron's career to be disappointing, then I hope you're way harsher on most other players.
>>
>actually the all time leading scorer, 4 time champion with 10 trips to the Finals, who has played at an insanely high level for over 20 years with the greatest longevity in the history of the sport is actually a bum who didn't belong on the basketball court
LeBron haters in a nutshell

>>
>>151192263
he went 1-2 against the spurs and needed a ray allen miracle for the 1
vs the warriors he needed a major refaballing to stay alive and a clutch kyrie
he's just not that great
>>
>>151171472
Most of those high point games from Kobe came in non-playoff series. He's had too many choke games in actual playoffs and even finals to be considered the greatest scorer. The greatest scorer is easily Jordan because of the very high volume + good efficiency + low turnover rate

Are you seriously counting the 2007 finals in this conversation? That was on a different team like 7 years earlier and they were lucky to be dragged to the Finals by him anyways, so that's not an indictment imo. As for the Ray Allen and Kyrie shots, yeah teammates make big shots. Do you hold it against Jordan for Paxson or Kerr making a clutch shot? If your assessment when looking at Lebron's career is "Yeah, he's not that great.". I hope you're way harsher on most other players. If LeBron isn't great in your eyes, then almost nobody is.

And the people that could reasonably stop him from getting to the rim would just get jumphooks shot over them, because his balance, touch, and footwork were that good.

A player like Jordan, Shaq, or Kobe using his footwork and reaction time to be able to score through and around traffic and double teams is more impressive to me than a player like LeBron who's response to help is throw out of it.
>>
>>151194734
>chucking contested bricks is more impressive to me than being a good teammate and finding the open man
Kobefags are truly something else.
>>
>>151194139
Yeah like his 40 point games against the Blazers, Kings, and Spurs as a 20 year old, or hitting every single big basket on a sprained ankle down the stretch and OT against the Pacers in Indy after Shaq fouled out.
>>
I will give James credit for not being a retarded N like Anthony Edwards, no baby momma drama, no gun shit, you know all that, whatever he did he kept it under wraps. In a way it's kind of amazing the media shills for him because they usually want their blacks to be dysfunctional feral retards.
>>
>>151194734
Passing has always been a huge part of Lebron's game, idk why you all try to knock him for that. He never played like Jordan or Kobe.
>>
>>151194861
He is essentially a white man with black skin which makes it easy for the league to market him to as wide of an audience as possible, Lebron the person doesn't exist so much as Lebron the non-offensive black athlete whose image is worth a fuckload of money does
>>
>>151194803

>Kevin I know you're a great player in the paint and the best rebounder in the game but I need you to go stand in the corner dawg and give me assists because I'm not actually that good at navigating in a crowded lane and I'm better at driving and kicking than I am at throwing traffic passes
>Yeah I'm such a great teammate by making players not play to their strengths

I would've unironically had more respect for LeBron if he stayed with the Heat because Dwyane was the one player who he coexisted with well, instead of dumping them at the first sign of the Spurs' dominance and going back to Cleveland so he could blame a new set of teammates for having a losing record in the Finals.

sometimes the media hints at it but yea you have this guy who came into the NBA out of HS, got married and raised a family, that is essentially White man behavior. But they don't really talk about it or say that this should be an example for black guys to follow. They would rather talk about Ja Morant or Anthony Edwards or Stephen Jackson or any of these other guys. Telling when you consider who runs the media.
>>
>>151195211
>because I'm not actually that good at navigating in a crowded lane
Lebron is literally the best rim attacker in the history of the game and he was a great passer, you're literally mad because he doesn't play like MJ or Kobe and acting like that's an indictment on him. That's incredibly fucking retarded.
>>
>>151194734
>A player like Jordan, Shaq, or Kobe using his footwork and reaction time to be able to score through and around traffic and double teams is more impressive to me than a player like LeBron who's response to help is throw out of it.
It's also the reason why Magic isn't as good as Bird and there's no other pass-first PG in the Top 10 and the greatest all time at the position is primarily a scorer.
>>
>>151195277
Yeah you're right, jews honestly make way more money pushing the violent, unstable life of a thug in sports just like they do in music. It's fucking sad, they need actual role models.

are people just memeing/hating? i do think jordan had a better career overall because of his finals legacy but i don't think it's that clear cut. lebron is maintaining elite production in his 40s and stats show better efficiency and defensive impact. i wouldn't think less of a fan who thinks lebron had a better career as if the person didnt know shit about basketball

Yes.

2007 is a synopses of LeFraud's career
>win piss-easy LEastern Conference
>get smashed in the finals against real competition.

2011 is even better
>get through piss-easy LEastern Conference with his hand chosen team
>gets embarrassed in the Finals gains real competition.
>>
>>151200323
One of the few all-time great games I'll give LeBron credit for was one of the ECF games vs the Pistons that where he scored like 20 straight on them, but that was NOT the same Pistons team from 2004 and would've been buzzsawed by the Spurs worse than the Cavs were.

I also think LeBron and the Heat organization consciously took all Eastern Conference players in an effort to further dilute it down.
>>

He’s in the eulogy of his career playing the most pathetic, egotistical ball in the league where he doesn’t even track back on defense and just camps out in the key for easy lobs while the rest of his team actually tries to put them back in the game. He is the laziest piece of shit behind Zion and it baffles me how people coddle and praise him for plying like a goddamn bitch and acting like he is no help

The real key to his longevity is that he hasn't even attempted to play half-court defense since he joined the Cavs. He'll occasionally hunt for chasedown blocks for the highlight reel but otherwise just stands under the rim waiting for uncontested rebounds so he can start breaks.
>>
>>151213008
Which is why he doesn't get credit for >MUH TRIPLE DOUBLEZ either. It's not like he's boxing out and battling for rebounds like it's the 90s, he's not Charles Barkley pushing his man out to the foul and then bulldozing his way through another player to get the board. Zoomerball is so concerned with breaks they all get back as soon as the shot goes up.
>>
2011
He was never going to overcome that unless he won more rings. He got 3 and then a mickey mouse ring in the bubble.

That team was dogshit without LeBron but they fit with LeBronball well and played their roles well and benefited from a garbage East. It was 100 times better than Kobe's supporting cast of Smush Parker, Maurice Evans, Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown, Ronny Turiaf, and Luke Walton who got beat by a Suns team that also would've won the finals that year if Robert Horry didn't hip-check Steve Nash into the scorer's table.

Same issue as KD, it's not his ability that limits his greatness, but his personality. He's a corny primadonna who gets everything handed to him. There is no struggle, no demons, no anything really, and his biggest obstacle is being a giant bleeding vagina. At least durrant has shut the fuck up, LeBron demands everyone bow to his greatness, and people arent about that. That cleveland team before the decision where he dragged a bunch of scrubs as far as he could? Phenom, full stop. Old man lebron taking every play off on d with the whistle firmly up his ass chasing counting stats at the cost of the franchise? Could never be the GOAT. And dont get me started on "metrics", this negro has nothing compelling about him. If you couldnt build your team around him, you legit dont want him there.
