How is SVG so much better than the field at conserving tires on road courses? He wasn't the fastest car by any means today, but after 10 laps he was in his own zip code. It's mind boggling how impressive he is at this.
>>151213098>>151213073Thanks!
>>151216387Just how hes been shit on ovals compared to the rest of the field hes literally driven hundreds more road and street circuits then the rest of the field. Its why he was a backmarker on ovals cause even the other back markers had thousands of laps on him.
>>151216568Fair point, but I'd argue he's catching the field on ovals quite a bit faster than they're catching him on road courses.
reminder that rick hendrick whacked a guy
>>151216861if SVG and ross were given proper cars that arent tied to ECR or hendrick shit, things would be different today.By the way, Pennis Gay in Me is already crying that "is not my fault" again
>>151219207I agree, and I think Justin would be wise to switch to Dodge and be their main Cup team. They'll always been secondary with Chevy. Would make a lot of sense with Kaulig as a satellite and development program.
>>151216568The rest of the field has been racing stock cars on road courses for years and years and stopped getting beaten by road course ringers otherwise a long time ago, even Ambrose did not have nearly this level of success in the days when the Cup drivers should have been worse on road courses, and I know you want to say RPM cars were shitboxes but they weren't -that- bad.>>151216387Basically everyone in the NASCAR system these days is clutchless downshifting and shocking the rear tires every time they don't rev match perfectly, Supercars is the only analogous series of heavy undertired shitboxes with manual downshifting but unlike Cup they've had 6 speed gearboxes and more stop go tracks for a long time while say a lap around Watkins Glen in a gen 6 car had about 4 downshifts for the entire lap. So the guys who are good in those races are nursing the downshifts with the clutch which is just not a technique anyone else ever considered if they started driving with the modern transmissions between the lower influence and the higher rate of cautions with the old cars.https://www.youtube.com/shorts/gjH06HpNh5chttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnOdwQ-vpuA

>>151219276Dodge doesn't even have an engine program, they wanted to partner with a team that already develops engines. >>151220565That's a bit of an exaggeration because even as pro racing goes you still need to do it in MX-5 Cup for example let alone most club cars. Kligerman himself was taught to drive in a Skip Barber car that you had to do it funnily enough.

>>151248584Maybe ask yourself why F1 has had consistent manufacturer presence for the last 30 years and not prototype sports car racing? They can actually write a rule book and keep to it except for safety improvements and maintaining the intent through a proper process while the ACO is in a perpetual state of making shit up to pander to one manufacturer (and no Hyperspurdo's fucked up performance window created by wildly changing the rules every time anyone showed any interest before it was introduced, development allowance favoritism, and wack ass BoP is not a change from that) You would never ever see Renault or Mercedes forced to provide engines for Red Bull and McLaren and their factory teams get cucked by customers in WEC, rather independent teams and boutique manufacturers are barely tolerated as explicit dedicated field filler even when there's only 2-4 major manufacturer cars. (and no IMSA is not different, look how LMP2s got fucked when DPi was "supposed" to be BoP'd to LMP2 speed and Daytona's entry list actually looked like a major global race for the first and last time in years)An inability to think big picture instead of shlonging one or two manufacturers is holding back a lot of motorsport, only Bernie really seemed to understand how to make money and not just extract wealth.

So if NASCAR loses this lawsuit, what happens? No charters, everyone gets a charter? Free Ice ceram for noncharter teams at every event? Also, is there any chance they will break up the track ownership cartel? It's infuriating that so many tracks sit idle every season and that some tracks only hose an event once a year. Honestly, that's my biggest issue. I'd like to see CARS Tour and ??? Other late model series running at Kentucky or any of the other unused tracks they are squatting on. I just want to see a competitor to NASCAR. That way, they actually have some pressure from the fans. I just don't think that's possible with the current situation.
>>151259001While Cup cars should be 1200HP V8 Hybrid monsters, IMO the most impactful thing NASCAR could do to make the racing better is to adjust the natural aero balance of the car to be less front-limited and more rear-limited.The way the rules currently are and how teams set up their cars, they're pretty balanced in clean air and super tight in traffic. If you move the aero balance forward adjust height rules as needed, you could in theory make the natural state of the car pretty balanced in traffic, but super loose in clean air. That way when someone gets clean air, the advantage they get is somewhat negated by drag from front downforce they don't need/can't use anyway. If anything it might fool some drivers into getting clean air and then immediately spinning out because they feel like superman for .2 seconds into the next corner.
>>151260797you would think the ballsportfags are the ones trying to make asscar stickandballish since the early 00s
>>151262267>So if NASCAR loses this lawsuit, what happens?they already said they'll go full scorched earth on the charter system, who knows what else they'll do in retaliation>is there any chance they will break up the track ownership cartel?for that, what needs to happen is >nascar must lose the lawsuit>an indycar style split needs to occur>smi must want to make business with the splitting factionand at the end of the day the judge will try to reach a middle ground so it is unlikely that this outcome will happen

WRChttps://youtu.be/eleIUt9f3uQ
>>151262571It doesn't matter whether the front, the back, or all 4 wheels are sliding, you're still going to go slower. As far as I know the current Cup car is engineered to have very little balance change in dirty air. Mandating ride heights to skew the aero balance is only an annoyance on ovals where there's (with minor exception) only one speed of corner on the track, you will just get super soft rear springs, massive front springs, massive front swaybars, super understeery geometry and/or ballast placement, etc. to get the balance back unless you want to just IROC the entire fucking thing, you don't need to worry about it understeering in the 1st gear hairpin with all of that because there isn't one.At any given moment 95% of the cars on track are in dirty air, so it's not like cars aren't already set up to handle in dirty air and it's not like you see them spinning out the moment they get out of traffic. In general you don't really hear complaints about the balance going away based on traffic/clean air like you did in the gen 4 or CoT days, just on the fastest tracks cars set up for low drag in hopes of qualifying well and staying out front not having enough downforce in traffic.
FIA and ACO can suck my balls>fucking asscar-owned IMSA is a better aports car governing body somehowI want to vomit
I think it was that insider interview with Jimmy a few months ago, but somewhere I heard that a large part of the reason they have the HP lowered on the current Cup cars is to increase engine life and therefore lower cost. Which actually makes sense because cost cutting was part of the reason behind this faggy new car. Anyway, I for one, welcome the power increase and it will be interesting to see how the engines hold up. I just wish it was every track.

I just realized that NASCAR may be about to, again, make two massive changes at once where one of them was only ever asked for because they were refusing to budge on the other and is completely pointless, if not actively detrimental, when that other one is made.Last time: reduction of 1.5mi triovals at the schedule at the same time as the introduction of the Gen7 car. This time: rotating final race at the same time as the championship format changes.

>>151270136>>151270133I guess he's gotten tired of WRC and the aim is Super License right now. Sad for WRC, but it's an interesting turn of events.
>>151270123NASCAR does not own Bristol faggot, and even when when ISC was a separate company it was paying sanctioning fees, although the tracks come out ahead on their cut of the TV rights fees anyways as far as I know.
>>151270136Its clear he has lost interest and the hankook tires probably sped up the process
Kalles new destination seems to be JP super formula
>>151270174Who takes his seat?Solberg?
>Kalle going to Super Formulahttps://x.com/KalleRovanpera/status/1976192080180326496?t=F_vIga_vsExADSZCekebkw&s=19Honestly pretty wild. Not a great look for the WRC. I guess we know Oliver has a fulltime Rally1 seat then.
>>151270221My guess now is that Toyota knew about this for a long time now, and that's why they gave Oliver the Estonia drive.
>>151270207>>151270230He also said on his YT channel that he will be in F2 in 2027
>>151270221TänakSolberg will share a car with Ogier
>>151270301>trying to switch to F1 in his late 20sbold
>>151270314It's the same as with Herta, there's a big manufacturer with F1 links that wants him in F1 as long as he's a decent prospect. He wouldn't do this without the Toyota-Haas partnership in place.
>>151270136hahaha rallying is cooked, not surprising since top level rallying is basically circuit racing with 50x the prep work and no wheel 2 wheel action nowadays, if this doesn't wake the sport up then its cooked for sure
>>151270310I doubt it. And if they do take Tänak then they'll probably demote Taka or even Sami to a part-time seat. Unlike those two Oliver is a rally winner after all.
Kalle just made room for Toyota having both Pajari and Solberg next year...>>151270174I'm sure they are a big factor
>>151270339They will take Tänak. I wonder what Hyundai do. Neuville/Fourmaux and no 3rd car?
>>151270348A refreshed EP and Enni?
>>151270368ep said multiple times even like 2 weeks ago that he does not want to compete full time in a world championship anymore, he wants to be in finland with family and friends and this year was the first in a couple which he actually really enjoyed
>>151270348Hyundai does not have a junior, but maaaaybe they couldlure back Mikkelsen or Lindholm. Gryazin has no manufacturer ties, Virves seems like tied up with Skoda> Inb4 ex Hyundai junior Loubet returns lol
>>151270402>Loubetlol, they might as well get the king himself Philip AllenYohan isn't a candidate I guess, he's all in on Stellantis, especially if they go to the top class with Lancia for the '27 regs
>>151270423yeah I doubt Yohan, and also he is actively involved in the development of the Lancia, Ostberg will only join the development work next year AFAIK
I had to find through Facebook out of all places..
>>151270310if Ogier retires after winning the championship this year I can see it happen if not Tanak won't go to Toyota
>>151270522Ages at monte 2026:Seb 42Tanak 37Thierry 36Evans 36Tanak himself will retire possibly in a year or two
>>151270301Given F2 has world championship status, he would be the first man to win world championships in both rallying and single seaters. Having won world championship in 2 classes is done by JM Lopez recently but touring cars and sportscar prototypes are 2 way closer discipline
>>151270544Honestly I expect a lot of retirements in '27 when the speed of the cars gets massively cut. I doubt Thierry will want to drive something that's barely faster than Rally2.I don't think cheaper top class cars are the solution, you need the spectacle. Manufacturers would be far more interested if the WRC promoter would actually try to get eyes on the sport.
>>151270585>F2 has world championship statusIt doesn't.
>>151270647
>Porsche is leaving the WEC because of money issues>Their CEO is building a literal 500 meter tunnel for his personal direct access from his house to the nearby city
>>151270677his personal funds and the business funds are separate issues. besides, the cost of that tunnel is probably a pittance compared to running a WEC team.
>>151270647ah okay, somehow I thought it has
>>151270677>personal direct access from his house to the nearby cityThis sounds like something Batman would do.
>>151270717Probably played the EA F1 games and heard the commentator say "F2 world championship"?
>>151270768it used to be a world championship distinct from F1, but this was pre-1980s. the current "F2" is just rebranded GP2, a glorified feeder series for F1.
I guess solberg is getting that seat now.
>>151270814He deserves it
>>151270768nah I havent played an official game since the 2016 one lol. It was just an assumption from me
>>151270814we will see how he can fare under a full season pressure and not having a fairly stronger/more ideal package than the other competitors
>>151270136>>151270133Shit, I said that I expected him to be McLaren "mega" entry for the rookie Indy 500 ride, but that was the wildest guess I could've thought of, I never expected this.
>>151270701That money is taken directly from his own wagies' salary bumps to fund his ridiculous vanity projects, he has my respect
>>151271068that's not how it works. He's mostly paid in stock in the company, unrealised gains he can use as collateral in bank loans which is where he gets the vast majority of his actual real cash.
>>151270859And he has very limited experience on tarmac
>>151271116That's what they tell you

>>151272047they are. Shareholders would flip their shit if the CEO was using company money for personal use. reminder: CEOs are employees hired by the board of directors, they're not Godemperor of the company.
>>151271792I respect his desire to try something new, realistically he's achieved everything he could want in rallying and he's a really talented driver so doing something new is kinda cool actually
is it toyota's fault?
https://x.com/tukasa0204/status/1976076044689080525how can a man be so based and so cringe at the same time?
>>151272243Came here to say that. 20 years of rallying at age 25, achieved everything in WRC, youngest world champ twice back to back. He has the mindset of the champion - new peaks need to be conquered. He's burnt out on rallying after doing it his whole life, and what prospects could he see on the horizon in WRC? Fight against the same two guys and same two teams for the foreseeable years, in slower cars no less? Lmao, even viewers are tired of this shit and we only have to bust a weekend once a month, with our ass on the couch and a beer in our hand.Fuck I hope that *something* clicks in those knuckleheads minds in FIA, cause it clearly didn't when their fresh world champion did a half-season and the rest of the drivers and champs constantly shit on the state of WRC.Godspeed Galle, I'll miss your interviews.

New sponsorship mid race.

>>151273476>>151273535It's never not funny.
american media is very quiet on the whole palou vs mclaren case, wonder ((why)) that is, anyways the tl;dr is that zakary is trying to use every trickery in the book but he's starting to step in his own tailhttps://archive.ph/uBpGKhttps://archive.ph/qHEHKhttps://archive.ph/diriO
>>151273575I feel bad for Alex. He was chasing his F1 dream to a dead end but did break his contract. I don't think he's getting out of this unscathed.
>>151273705he's gonna have to pay something regardless, but nowhere near what mclaren is asking
Miata time, bros!
>>151273898i had no idea vp racing challenge ran mazdas
>>151273910Kek
>>151272243also someone mentioned this about harri on ylila
>>151271792>>151272243"I have no desire to go for the WRC champ record"That really said it all to me. Good on him desu.
>>151273327Everything projecting their issues and annoyances about FIA on the Kalle story, because it cant be that he is not interested in statpadding after achieving pretty much everything, even if he exactly said he does not care about records. It was already clear he will want to try full time other things sooner or later and as a lot of people pointed out for single seaters this might be the last timeframe he can jump inBack like 30-50 years ago it was pretty common for people to jump disciplines after achieving everything and not staying for statpadding and trying out as much racing as possible>>151272518no, they would have to somehow pursue him to go for recrds he already said he doesnt care about.it's like people crying that Ogier wants to spend time with his children instead of racing because he loves them. There is no team or rule change who would somehow turn these decisions around or prevent them.
>>151274171everything = everybody
>>151274171I doubt Galle would have even thought about leaving if he wasn't driving in the current era with the insane amount of prep work drivers put into a rally weekend, in circuit racing he can just hop in a car and drive after maybe doing a couple hours on the sim during the week
Galle trying to do a reverse Gimiwill he succeed?
What retards
Gonzalez just got giga fucked
checkers or wreckers faggots
Man, what a crap end to a good race
>>151274323f1 might be a stretch but I can see him driving in wec
>>151274265> I doubtKalle said he is not tired of rallying, he just wants to do more than doing thr same thing in all his life to increase some numbers in spreadsheets. He would have done it maybe later if it's the 90s because back then F1 drive entry age was considerably higher, but if he could he had done the switch bc it is driven by desire and not falling out with the sport, and you cant do it in single seaters as a part time shit if you want to suceed>>151274323he will try for sure on 100 percent. SF and F2 are pretty much already sure, depends on his F2 performance if he will be pushed forward. Given the current f1 driver maket, he will end up in a backmarker (haas is the one rumored bc of the toyota tie up and previous toyota driver tests)Galle will be more succesfull in single seaters than Gimi in rallying
>>151274880>Kalle said he is not tired of rallyingyeah he is tired of watching onboards for 100s of hours for an event not tired of driving the car that's been evident for the last couple years
Kion kino kino!
She's so fucking hot, bros.
