Such a shame the course doesn't go up some ramps or through the forests visible in the background. Surely that can make an equally tough race as the highway course.

>ultramarathons
In mountains/hills? Unless you've walked them you can't begin to comprehend how psychotic that is. Did a through hike in wales recently and did some big mountains, snowdon and a bunch of others basically the same height. Going up is like a FTP test, teeth to the grindstone. Then dudes were running the route, super skinny and lean but still. Coming down is something else. Your patella tendon is basically carrying all your momentum and weight. Needs to be made of kevlar or something to survive. Still a month later I'm recovering from it joint wise but I did have a pack. There was one descent that was the most scared I've been in many years and this dude, I think from newcastle (basically mixture of vikings, scots and irish) runs past me up and on the way down. Had a short chat. Fucking huge drops, literal climbing involved and he's just running it for fun. Somewhere I hope never to go again in my life and he's just doing it of an evening for fun.

Ultra marathon dudes are literally crazy. There are tiers of crazy, normies might think doing 15 hour a week cycling is nuts. But these dudes take the cake. Only crazier type of thing is free climber. Ultra's aren't necessarily in physical danger but to endure that difficulty they must be a little unhinged. Picrel, basically down that sheer rocky edge and a dude picked that for an evening run instead of his local park. Scared for my life and he does it as a jog.

Unreal performance, wonder what the men do. Humans really are fantastic. Not a single creature on earth has the endurance of the human I don't think. These athletes would unironically outrun a horse.

>>151321250
last one was in the sahara, algiers or turniasia. He's pretty crazy. Usually he did one or two normal marathons a week, but he stopped that as he felt he was wasting his legs on the "short" distances.

That was only a 2hr - 2.5hr event to be fair, anything 10 miles further and the winners would probably be overwhelmingly human.

Mountains are absolutely bonkers, inspires such awe and mystery. You get the feeling "I wonder what is on top of that". Humans are so based. Sheep goats and horsebergs are just thinking "I wonder how tasty the grass is up there" but humans can imagine a spiritual experience. And it is. Cresting a mountain is very addictive.

Visit the UK and do the 3 peaks. Snowdon, Scaffell Pike and Ben Nevis. FUCK the alps.

46 ascents? That's cool and very achievable. I bet the descent is fun. Don't forget to return to your roots. Trip to your homeland, wherever it may be. Gloidville has unbelievable scenery, as do most euro nations. I'd love to visit america one day. Spoilt for choice in terms of terrain. Might do norway next year. I suspect my great great great great great great great great great nan was raped by a vikang which is why I look very scandinavian. So in some sense, that is also my homeland. And probably yours for that matter.

They do, the sheep have full access but generally stay lower on the mountain for whatever reason. Near the top it gets very windy and cold so I'd imagine that's why. The trees probably also get impacted by the weather. The grass is short at the top which is probably conditions. Down the valleys there are trees, but it's clearly a 'forest' or more like a park. I believe most forests were purged for timber hundreds of years ago which explains the lack of trees in all the mountainous regions. Supposedly the UK used to be effectively one enormous forest, but it was all cut down. Some still remain, but the trees aren't always huge. Some forests are quite small trees but they were cut down to make way for grazing. In reality the UK is one big open aired factory for sheep and cows unfortunately.

Well centuries of sheep farming means that soils degrade. Combined with rough wind and erosion, seedlings don't stand much of a chance and soils take decades to recover. Germany's forests were cut down too, but we didn't have the sheep to prevent regrowth, although none really ended up resembling natural woodlands like they used to be. Shame really.

Lack of trees adds to the baron landscape in some way. It removes the landscape you're used to and replaces it with a spooky desolate vibe. Loss of wilderness and wildlife is probably considerable though. In scotland they are preventing native species being reintroduced due to land owners wanting to retain full control over their land. Introduce the lynx to begin to manage the deer population and landownerberg will suddenly see restrictions and less deer to shoot. Many of the pheasants are bred in farms and released to be shot for example.

The class of humans who control wealth and land are reprehensible and should themselves, be hunted as game. You simply do not own that mountain, regardless if you have a document that suggests otherwise. You do not own the loch that spans 10 miles. You do not own those fish. Even the media makes hit pieces on rewilding projects. Quite frustrating but the landscape as it is, is truly magnificent.

This is essentially the same thing as Zwift Trainer (that isn't made any more).

It's full-featured, well-built, comes with Zwift cog (which is actually awesome because you don't have to worry about indexing your trainer cassette which is a PITA), and $399 new.

Just checked with the mirror and head torch. There is without a shadow of a doubt an external hemorrhoid on my anus at this very moment in the time continuum. No pain or blood, but its just there, hanging out. The fuck do I do berts I cannot sleep.
>>
>>151345234
You want to avoid constipation and make it easy to poop so that the hemorrhoid goes back to normal, generally within days to a week. Make sure your diet is good, I would also recommend taking some sort of fiber supplement like psyllium (Metamucil is a brand here) and a stool softener like polyethelene glycol (Miralax is a brand here), both available over the counter. Very important to also be drinking plenty water. Take some ibuprofen/acetaminophen or whatever if it hurts. If there is profound pain or bleeding, or if it if it doesn't go away within a week or so, go get seen by your doctor or a GI doctor however it works in Germany.

Have any berts ever "blown up" in a race/ride? what was it like, and why cant they take a breather for 10 seconds and get back in the game?
>>
for about 20 seconds
>>
>>151353499
I held it for 7 minute before summer, does it count as z2
>>
>>151353642
Yes, the hardest i have ever blown up was after 220km and i had 14km left on my ride, i was so dead i had to be pushed those last 14km
It’s not about breathing it’s about about your blood sugar levels and salt in your body, there is a critical point and if you go below that your body just stops and there is nothing you can do to recover besides laying down relaxing and eating loads of carbs, minerals and salt
>>
>>151353640
there's also official prize money from ASO. team total was 700k. although it probably split in the ream
>>
>>151353640
money for nothing. not like he needs any extra motivation for a race he was always going to do and always going to peak for. although maybe next year he will after being bored to death by the vismoids.

Turbo trainers aren't really ideal for sprinting—maybe 30/30s. 600W isn't much, but it's plenty if you're new to it and aren't focussing on (say) <1min power
>>
>>151354241
that's what i was thinking, thanks.

guess i will give the D100 a go.

Would it hurt buying it used?
>>
>>151354250
Used should be fine. I don't have a D100 but you'd have to badly mistreat a turbo trainer for it to fall into disrepair. (I'm still using a KICKR Snap from about 8 years ago that just won't die.) Most people selling are probably Freds who couldn't stay interested in it

Early season races are actually kino and worth watching to see which teams are grinding points, which riders are peaking early and it's fun to see strong riders in garbage form. Especially now that races like Strade are being raced properly early season races are super relevant. Undoubtedly poogacar will rock up and win all the mallorca races and classic almeria etc. TDU is super kino and always a fun goofy race too. I prefer early season to March races, March seems like it's gotten serious but not that serious. Don't like march.

Looking for advice from the euro berts here. I'm planning to go to Spain in May, probably for 7-9 days. Wondering if I should do Madrid-Barcelona or Barcelona-Madrid-Sevilla? Thinking 3 nights per city which could be tight including travel or 3-4 nights between two cities. I don't want to feel rushed, enjoy history/museums as well as night life and seeing the cities. Would not be opposed to day trips if doing two cities. I am trying to learn Spanish so if I don't get to Southern Spain I could imagine going back within a year or two.

Also what is the best Spanish publication for cycling articles to practice on, is it >>151355116?

>Long ago, the Jade Emperor declared a great race across the river—first twelve animals to cross would earn a place in the zodiac, one for each year. Off they went: the rat hitched a ride on the ox and leapt ahead at the last second, the tiger roared through the current, the rabbit hopped on stones, and so on, each beast scrambling to the finish. But the pig? Well, the pig stopped halfway to feast on a fine meal, then dozed off under a tree, full and content. When it finally woke and ambled across the line—last of all—the Jade Emperor just chuckled and said, “You’re twelfth, then,” and that’s why those born in the Year of the Pig are never in a rush, but always arrive with kindness in their hearts and a smile on their face.

The Tour of Guangxi marks the LAST UCI World Tour event of the season, and that means the last run of /WORLD TOUR WINE/ !! This has perhaps been the most HOTLY anticipated series of wines of the year, with Berts clamoring for inside knowledge for MONTHS.

China is, historically, NOT a wine-drinking country. They prefer to guzzle cheap grain analog beers and insanely overpriced baijiu. However, there are small pockets of wine springing up throughout the country over the last couple decades. The country used to have a bit of a crush on Bordeaux, considering it a prestigious business gift, but since the government ban on wine as a business gift, the market has apparently crashed in China. Still, some wine is made. One of the "premier" regions is Ningxia which borders the Helan Mountains in Inner Mongolia, the opposite side of the country from Guangxi.

Xiaopu "Gathering MV6" ($30)

Well, I know nothing about this wine or region. It is an insane blend of Syrah, Pinor Noir, Chardonnay, "Italian Riesling" (sic), Black Muscat, Marselan, and Dunkelfelder from various vintages (hence the MV designation. The notes from the winemaker include:
>The word "gathering" on the wine label comes from Su Shi's People Come to the Book Post:
>"I deeply follow the common sense of life and death, gathering and dispersing. It is useless to realize sorrow."

So I'm not sure what that's supposed to be mean. It pours a quite opaque jammy red-purple, slightly cloudy. The nose has some light Syrah wild game and olive, but has a lot of Riesling and Muscat funk. It reminds me of low-quality Finger Lakes Riesling. The palate...woof. Sour acidity, a bit of red fruit. It's just not pleasant, very disjointed, all angles and elbows. This is certainly done in a natural style and seems to be a sort of bistro-style glou glou. The very first Chinese wine the /wtw/ offices have sampled leaves something to be desired. However, it is actually better than some of the Australian horrors we opened the year with.

The necktie was originally worn by the Croatians, they brought it west in the late 17th century when they fought as mercenaries and the French and English adopted their style, that's why they're called Cravates in French.
>>
Pogacar had a exhibition event where people got to race against him up a climb the other day right after lombardia
Andrew Feather 'won' the even but was over 4 min slower than Pogacar up the climb which took him 44 min
Pogacar set off 6 minutes after everyone, meaning Pogacar would've taken 10 minutes out of Andrew Feather over 40 minutes.
Feather produced 6.3w/kg

And people still believe Pog isn't the most doped athlete in history.

Also, do you really think Pogi is sandbagging races his entire career with mere 7 W/Kg figures, only to unleash the greatest climbing performance of all time on a Sunday group ride the day after a monument? A ride in which he was seen chatting and laughing up the climb?

Tadej Pogacar has had a wild 2025 with victories in the Tour de France, World Championships, European Championships, Tour of Lombardy – and we could go on.

But the many victories come with a price, and the victorious Slovenian has not had much time to relax and recover. This worries his mother, Marjeta Pogacar, who puts her son's intense program into words in an interview with Le Parisien.

- This year I really saw that he was really, really tired. Exhausted, maybe. And I thought: "Now I understand if he stops cycling, or if he at least stops for a year," she says of this year's Tour de France according to RMC Sport.
Was tired after the Tour

During this year's Tour de France, Pogacar did not hide the fact that he was tired. Very tired.

But he nevertheless left Jonas Vingegaard and his other competitors on the edge of their seats when he took his fourth Tour victory. And although it looked effortless at times, it took a toll on the Slovenian world champion.

- I think every cyclist who has ever ridden a Grand Tour knows that three weeks is no joke. After the first week you are already tired, and then there are still two more to go.

- I don't think anyone comes home rested - especially not after the Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar has previously explained, while he has also made no secret of the fact that he was looking forward to the season being over.

- We don't have time to enjoy it

But if you ask Marjeta Pogacar, her 27-year-old son might have to take his foot off the accelerator a little.

- For years I have said that these victories, these celebratory events, go too fast. They follow one another without a break. We are very happy, but we do not have time to enjoy it. Sometimes you wish he would take it a little easier, she tells the French media.

Marjeta Pogacar further explains that even though Pogacar's season is now over, he does not get much rest. There are many obligations to sponsors and other events.
