Retards think being able to make dangerous tackles means that defenders in the past were better. What it actually means is that defenders used to be able to get away with getting caught out of position and making last-ditch tackles to compensate. Nowadays a modern defender needs to have a far better tactical understanding of the game, not just from a defensive perspective but also from an offensive one as they are involved in build-up as well.
