UEFA just stripped romanian champions FCSB of the european title won in 1986. The second divisionary Steaua Bucharest is now credited with the 1986 trophy. There has been a long debate in romanian football about this topic, even the legal authorities got involved.. now with UEFA involved, this could mark the begining of a huge scandal in european football.

>>151467757>Steaua București is the football club of the communist Romanian Army>wins the European Cup in '86 and the Super Cup in '87>in 1998, the football section splits from the army sports club and becomes a private entity (Fotbal Club Steaua București, later renamed Fotbal Club FCSB in a tautology made compulsory by court rulings)>the army sports club, CSA Steaua București, claims all honours won before the split>in 2025, the Romanian supreme court rules in their favour in an inappealable decision>UEFA edits the relevant entry on their website to reflect this
>>151467757Steaua used to be the Army's team back in communist Romania and owned by dictator Ceausescu's cousin. They won back-to-back championships, always transferred the league's best players, essentially a communist Bayern.Fast forward to the mid 90s, the team was run by retards and close to bankruptcy. In comes Gigi Becali who legally bought the team for the price of 3 sheeps, invested money made the team stronger, and they played again in Champions League and Uefa Cup.We're now in mid 2010s, those Army generals want to buy back the team, Gigi tells them to fuck off. So the make a new team called unironically Steaua Bucharest, start from the Romanian 4th league, and sue Gigi to not use the name anymore.Since we are still in a communist dystopia, the courts (who serve the army's interests) forced Gigi to change the name of the team, which he did, it is now called FCSB (FC Steaua Bucharest). So now there's 2 Steaua Bucharest teams, one in the first league (FCSB) owned by Gigi, one in the 2nd league (Steaua Bucharest) owned by the army.To make it even more hilarious, the 2nd league Steaua will never be allowed to play in the first league, because it is owned by the army and by Romanian law they don't allow sports teams owned by the government to compete in the top leagues. Now, the army went to Uefa to take the title away from Gigi's FCSB, considering he changed the team name. But at the same time, Army's Steaua is a new team that was founded in 2017. That's the current drama around that.

>>151473514Yeah, it may be bug. But they changed a lot of FCSB's history on the website. Who knows.>>151467757Basically what the other anons said. FCSB owner tought that he bought Steaua from the army, but the deal was shady and the army knew that. They sued him 12 years ago, and the court ruled that there was no deal and the army didn't sell anything in fact, and that FCSB used Steaua's name ilegally. And ever since then they have been fighting for the silverware and history of the club in romanian courts, and the army pretty much won it all. They have started a new team in romanian lower leagues called Steaua Bucharest, and they climbed all the way to the second division. They've been stuck in the second league for about 4 years, even winning promotion to the first league thrice, but the FA won't let them climb up because they are state owned. By romanian law they are considered the club that won the 1986 european cup, so their fans make a lot of noise about how UEFA should strip FCSB of the title. Curiously, UEFA just changed that on their website. Who knows what might happen next.
