Just move the whole tour to Germany, evening sessions being on early and not finishing at near midnight has made this tournament much more fun to watch than the last few majors in England.

So almost an entire year of Luke dominance in the ranking majors ends as it started last year with neither of them winning the European Championship. But at least this year we did not have an absolute jobber (sorry Ritchie) winning the title as at long last Gian van Veen makes his breakthrough with his first major title in the first last leg decider in this tournament's final for a decade against a sulking Luke Humphries.You would not have expected GVV to win given he slashed the thumb on his throwing hand in his semi-final victory, and early on it didn't look that way as Cool Hand Luke ran into a 3-0 lead with The Giant making a complete disaster on the doubles and lost the first session 4-1. But The Power of Chud reared its head and the Dutchman went berserk in the second session, averaging 117 and hitting a 160 to level the match at 4-4, but Humphries kept him at bay to go in level at 5-5. The pair traded holds to start the third session, but then a colossal 121 from GVV put him ahead and the suddenly proud World #1 turned into a petulant World #1, messing up his scoring and whining about it as van Veen exited the session with an 8-7 lead. A brilliant 112 kicked off the final session for the young Dutchman, but a huge 144 was wired to extend the lead to 10-7 and Humphries pulled him back to 9-9 having survived a dart for 10-8. However, the Englishman's throw collapsed and a crucial last dart D8 saw the World Youth Champion go 10-9 up and one away. The drama didn't end though as van Veen missed two darts at tops to finish 100 and Luke nailed 85 on the bull to send it to a decider. Gian could only watch on as Humphries had 69 to win, but he prematurely ejaculated on the tops attempt and allowed the youngster to finish 100 on D16 to make history.Overall a decent European Championship, but one which will always be remembered for the Rise of Chud. Billions will certainly throw the darts tonight./180/ returns on 8th November for the Grand Slam of Darts.
