Earlier this series the jays scored a free run because a camera man booted a live ball in the opposite direction it was travelling. We were told “NO! Live ball, he’s allowed to kick it a little bit”. But when the ball stops at the wall everyone has to go back.

So that the outfielders don’t get career-ending injuries when they try to make a play against the wall. Wall has to have some give it can’t be solidly anchored to concrete.

It’s a lodged ball if it sticks in the wall. But only sometimes. And the outfielder has to not throw the ball back to the infield before it’s inspected. Unless he does, in which case it doesn’t matter. Unless it does matter.
