Winter olmpyics in 95 days fellow firsties!
I can't wait for the winter olympics where we will demolish the competition, fellow firstie
we are so back
>>151793857This guy's fucking Ladyboys, GBR confirmed>>151794090This is Pedro Pascal's Trans Sister>>151794438How does he look like a sexy middle eastern woman
>>151793857Hyped for ice hockey in particular. It will be the strongest German squad ever, I can't wait to see it. Of course, they will unfortunately get their shit rocked by the actual powerhouses, but still ... finally a team with Draisaitl, Seider, Stützle, all the other NHL guys and the best of our domestic leagueRegarding the total medal tally, I have little hope. It will be yet another "lament and complain" Olympics for German fansIt will surely be fun anyway
what female norwegian athletes should i know about?
>>151794543Check out the /biathlon/ thread and see if there's anything you like.Though right now discussion is about what athlete won the most Gruyere in a season.
>>151794525germany is gonna be sleeper strong. countries should watch out especially with no russkies there
>>151793857Amen, my fellow firsties.
how do you do fellow whites
>>151793857Can’t wait to start Gou posting again
it's over for us in hockey.
>>151794968How come? Even if you're not Canada or US tier, you should be a medal contender for sure>>151794858That's encouraging, I hope >we will put up a fight at least. Best I could see us do is the quarterfinals and a tense match there. Would be cool to get some respect from the big countries afterwards while making the sport more popular hereI often regret the lost 2018 Olympic final and the 2023 Worlds silver medal. These weren't fully serious tournaments, but winning them would have helped promote ice hockey here

>>151793857Winter Olympics is peak comfy, i remember watching the SK one back when i was unemployed and my only worries was to go to college.
>>151793857Ice hockey will be insane. Four Nations NHL bullshit is one thing, a stacked Olympic tournament is another. In the NHL tournament, the US looked on par with Canada, this could be a really crazy match-up. And who knows what the B-tier nations can do this time around? At the ski stuff, Germany is looking shit afaik. Norwegians will be stacking once more. I hope we can at least statpad in bobsledding and luge events again and finish in the top 3 of the medal rankings, which would be damage limitation
>>151793857I love the Winter Olympics so much. It’s nice and White, just how like my neighborhoods and schools
>>151793857Good. I need something to stroke my bruised ego after that Jays game 7 loss
>>151794090Isn't almost your whole country a mountain range? Why can't your people ski?
>>151796634>Ice hockey will be insane. No Russia, no watch.
>>151793857I cant fucking wait, I have a reason to live!
>>151796618You’re not allowed to watch sorry
>>151796748If you lose the ice hockey gold to the US, which isn't impossible, you might regret that. But you're still the favorite, of courseAt the overall medal table, Canada was very underwhelming in 2022. 26 medals is good, but only 4 golds and 8 silvers? Something was wrong. You normally expect Norway and Germany to do better than Canada overall, but that's about it. We're getting worse and worse at winter sports overall, so maybe this is your turn to challenge the norggers if you get your shit together this time
>>151796871It is a shame, yesSo it's up to you and the leafs, and we will need one of Sweden, Finland, Czechia and maybe even Switzerland, Germany, Slovakia, and Latvia to pull up as well
>>151793857Stupid question but how do the athletes train when it’s not winter? The rink sports are easy obviously. But how does a skier for example train in the summer?
>>151797060A lot of their work takes place in a gym, they can do that anytime. Not necessarily only lifting weights, but certain exercises, for example plyometrics. And if necessary, they can either also train some stuff in indoor ski halls or still in the mountains. They don't go completely snow-free in summer, and you can travel to a different place where there is enough snow if you really need that. They will also incorporate other sports to help them build/maintain stamina and certain move sets. Mostly swimming, cycling, and running - especially trail runningTheir training doesn't really change that much overall, even though their access to slopes isn't quite the same. They can still use them for the most part. But they will often switch things up a bit and focus on different stuff in the offseasonDepending on the exact event, snow isn't even THAT important. Ski jumping for example can theoretically also take place in summer. And the biathlon and ski long distance guys will train on roller skates, which isn't 100% the same, but very close.
>>151797423That’s interesting, thanks bro
>>151798530I think the US team trains in Chile during the summer (Portillo, maybe?)

>Italy, MilanCan Italy guarantee snow?
What's the winter games' equivalent of breakdancing?
>>151796634Olympic hockey is going to be so much fun!
>>151804575Milan is just the city they use as the poster boy. Most of the games that don’t require rinks will take place further up north in the Alps, where there will be enough snow. And if necessary, they will use artificial snow. We‘ve already seen tons of that last time when Beijing hostedThe winter games often struggle with marketing a bit, they are smaller than the summer games. In recent years, using the names of big cities has become more normal to promote the event. By now, Germany for example would probably market games mostly revolving around stuff held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen under the name of Munich, simply because Munich is known globally
Have to remind myself that its actually in Italia
>No iced ski courses with that awful scratch scratch soundAlready 1000% better than chink olympics, and it’s back in Italy, hopefully Turin wasn’t a one off and norwegians are actually cursed on italian ground.

Kinda hyped to see, if >our ski jumpers can kick on from last season. Hopefully they along with the bobsleighs and maybe snowboard can compensate for the absolute shitshow that is the skiing team
