>>
>France, Australia, Korea and Japan in hockey
>No Latvia or Slovakia

That can't be right
>>
>>152156119
>No Latvia or Slovakia
Neither of those countries care about hockey. There's more Australian players in NHL than Latvians
>>
>>152156173
wtf are you talking those countries have participated in the IIHF world champs
>>
>>152156119
you're right on all counts except France qualified for milan
>>152156173
Latvia had a public holiday when they beat you for bronze
are you retarded?
>>
>>152156219
ignore that retard leaf bro
>>
>>152156173
Hockey is the most popular sport in Latvia and the 2nd most popular sport in Slovakia. Slovakia was one of the best countries in the sport in the early 2000s
>>
>>152156173
Latvia held parades to celebrate getting bronze in iihf a couple of years ago. They love hockey
>>
>>152154407
Hockey and football, don't care about any other sports.

what a year. My three favorite international sports events (the winter olympics as a whole, not just hockey. slightly ahead of the summer olympics for me). Baseball is my easy number one sport these days and I love international sports tournaments so nothing beats the WBC for me. I grew up in a soccer family so the world cup was the biggest for me growing up, I don't watch much soccer otherwise anymore but I still love the world cup. The winter olympics are what truly made me fall in love with sports, some of my best sports memories were watching the Turin olympics before school in the morning, the flying tomato was the first athlete I'd consider my favorite.
>>152154853
I enjoy cricket more than most sports these days too, though I prefer the ODI world cup

OP’s image is false, Japan and Korea aren’t participating
>>
>>152156409
hockey doesn't do that, the skill divide ends up being too big
they just put teams together on skill in 5 groups and you get weird groupings towards the bottom end, think some of the tournaments are in malls because those are the only ice rinks in their country
>>
>>152156569
We have a hockey team? Also why are we with a bunch of asian countries lol.
>>
>>152156554
neither is Australia. makes the map a lot less interesting, USA, Canada and 10 European countries
>>
>>152156272
Like a true swede
>>
>>152156714
He just said why hermano, hockey isn't divided into regions. You're in the 4th tier of hockey basically.

all 3. Hope fully I'll be at the bar watching the WC with foreigners
>>
>>152154407
I'll be watching the WBC despite knowing Brazil won't leave the group stage. World Cup is a given since it's almost a holiday when Brazil plays
>>
>>152154407
I watch everything Germany is in. I would have even watched baseball! But alas, >we didn't make it. Kind of a shame, but for now, I know almost nothing about the sport and lack the motivation to change that
I am somewhat hyped for the Olympic Ice Hockey tournament because it will be the strongest German team ever ... and I hope that team can positively surprise us, even though they are destined to get molested by the actual heavyweights. Still, I imagine the tournament to turn out exciting, especially when Canada and the US face again
And of course, the FIFA World Cup. I hate the new format and the triple host stuff, and I fully expect Germany to be mediocre once more. But you just have to see it yourself
I'll also watch the Handball World Cup, of course. This will be even more infuriating than football, though. Germany basically is the England of that sport, if not worse
>>
>>152154407
>World Baseball Classic
I'll watch
>Olympic Hockey
I'll watch
>soccer world cup
I'll skip
>>
>>152156554

Why do yanks equal Ice Hockey with Hockey instead of Field Hockey
>>
>>152164790
No one here does that
>>
>>152164790
Ice hockey has multiple pro Leagues including the NHL where players make millions of dollars

Field hockey has zero
>>

The next thing baseball has to catch up on is having proper tournaments and qualifying for the lesser teams. It took us long enough to finally have a proper world championships and it's quickly become great, but the qualifying for it is a total joke. Even fringe decent teams like Argentina and New Zealand weren't given a chance to qualify, both are probably better than China. Countries with surprisingly budding baseball scenes like Pakistan and Uganda weren't given a chance either, how the fuck is the sport supposed to grow if you don't even give these countries a chance to move up the ranks somehow.
The problem is that the WBC is run mostly by MLB, whose owners are short-sighted bloodsucking parasites who don't actually care about growing the game, they only care about short term profits, they are never going to fund tournaments for Uganda, Philippines and Pakistan to participate unless they're forced to, and they're the ones calling the shots here unfortunately.

It's a shame hockey never caught on in Japan
>>
>>152164790
isn't field hockey a girls' sport?

You’re asking why the one that’s overwhelming more popular than the other is called “hockey”?
>>
>>152164930
Yeah, agreed. Them not being on the iihf championship level in men's tourneys also probably has to do with the fact that they're pretty short people. with women the difference isn't as big
>>

How
All those sports are played by plumbers
