Not really happy with the selection of clubs, but based altogether. Especially if Switzerland and Austria purge our entire political ruling class and annex us, but keep the name of Germany (since we are all Germans)
The league itself could be cool
>>152155203
It is comparatively empty and has few relevant football clubs. Erfurt and Kassel come to mind, but their normal level would be the 3rd tier

Add in Magdebirg for Negerkusen and Hannover or Braunschweig for Wolfsburg at least. And VfB Leipzig instead of RB.

Personally, I always thought Bundes should consist of the 16 top teams of the Bundesländer, with a yearly relegation between the top dog and and winner of the Bundesland's competition.

Which league would be the best if organized along language lines?
>>
>>152156552
They’re kind of LARPers. I guess we could accept them if they rename themselves to VfB (again)
I‘d also prefer Dresdner SC over Dynamo in terms of „branding“, but both still exist as separate entities and Dresdner SC obviously isn’t important these days

I think the commie names like Lokomotive and Dynamo are kind of a cool legacy desu
>>
>>152158469
There are too many Dynamos. East German football was too much of a niche thing with little to no results to override the proud history of VfB Leipzig and Dresdner SC, who won German championships and German cups. VfB Leipzig was the first German champion ever. Both clubs got disbanded after the war, it does not feel right
The rest of the Ossi clubs are fine. But Leipzig and Dresden feel like they are too big in my opinion. Also Magdeburg perhaps, Viktoria Magdeburg feels more distinct
But I am a Wessi, so what do I know?

What has Ossiball achieved in football apart from the one European title (not the CL, but the lowest tier of the international competition) Magdeburg won? Compared to the west: nothing. The national team’s highlight is winning a group stage game against West Germany before West Germany became World Champion. And the GDR league’s list of success begins and ends with that Magdeburg title. The inherently political league was rigged as fuck so that the Stasi guys could win, and it was much weaker than the Bundesliga. The clubs in question got founded as replacements for famous clubs. The GDR is dead and its football legacy is nothing to praise - if it weren’t for the fact that this isn’t the 90s anymore and East German clubs have had enough time to develop stronger and more favorable identities in the western football system, they should have been disbanded or renamed just like the GDR regime did with older clubs for the sake of their agenda. This should have been done right after unification. By now, it doesn’t really make sense financially to replace Dynamo Dresden with Dresdner SC, and the former has enough fans and things to offer. But the truth is that the East always was the weak link in German football

for me, its SC Bonner
>>
>>152176312
They aight. But they never achieved relevance. I guess it's not that unusual given that Bonn was a glorified Köln suburb until the capital moved there specifically to show Germany wasn't unified (and because Adenauer didn't want to travel)
One of these underperforming clubs in the Regionalliga West ... Wuppertal is probably even more frustrating, as is Oberhausen
I wish they'd lock in and improve. They'd be a decent 3rd tier club and must have more potential than some village clubs currently ahead of them
>>
>>152176432
I think they went up a division in the Mittelrheinliga recently because they finished top/near the top last season. Now theyre getting their shit kicked in all the time by Bundes/div 2 feeder squads
>>
>>152176472
Yes, they made it to the Regionalliga West (4th tier, one of five) because they won the 24/25 Mittelrheinliga, which is one of the 14 Oberligen. Last time they were this high was in 21/22. They reached a Mittelrhein Cup final in the mean time, which is relatively impressive for a 5th tier club. Lost that one to Alemannia Aachen, no shame in that. It also got them quite a bit of money. Had they won and therefore secured a ticket for the DFB Cup, they would have been off even better, of course
They're currently in 12th and five points ahead of the relegation zone. They are doing alright. I hope they get it done and solidify. 3rd tier seems very unrealistic as of now, they just don't have the means and infrastructure for that. But as a team from a relatively large city, they should be able to survive in the 4th tier at least if they play their cards right
How come you are even remotely interested in them?
>>
>>152176617
I visited Koln a few years ago and went to Bonn on a whim because it was a "big city" and I wanted to see beethoven's house. I ended up really enjoying it there, really comfy
>>
>>152176678
Yeah, it's a nice city. Comfy, has that large village feel. Greatly profited from the time as capital, of course. Köln on the other hand has unfortunately gotten uglier in the last few years
Bonner SC is an interesting football choice. I suppose you didn't get to visit a game? Or a game of Köln? Getting Köln tickets usually is very hard, of course
In any case, nice to hear you liked it
>>
>>152176312
Clubs like Bonn always make me think that there should be a single unified fourth tier that is still professional. Not going to happen, of course ... but Bonn could easily be better, same for clubs like Wuppertal, Oberhausen, Jena, Erfurt, Zwickau, Chemnitz, Halle, Lok Leipzig, Würzburg, Bayreuth, Oldenburg, Meppen, Lübeck, Offenbach, Stuttgart Kickers, FSV Frankfurt, Trier, Koblenz ...
The weenie hut junior zone with village clubs and reserve sides should begin lower. I don't care if Wiedenbrück or something play against Gladbach II (though I suppose reserve sides of clubs in the first three tiers should be in their own leagues), but they shouldn't stink up areas that could still be interesting
Of course, this is unrealistic since the power balance between clubs like Wiedenbrück and Rödinghausen on one side and Bonn etc on the other is fucked up. You can't put them in a new single 4th tier in practice
>>
>>152154995
Switzerland has literally never been German you piece of fucking shit
>>
>>152177004
It has never been part of a German nation state, but it has been part of predecessor entities for centuries. Swiss Germans speak German (duh). It's not dumb to put them into such a 100% fictional meme scenario where the German-speaking areas have a single league
"Germany" didn't get invented in 1871, it simply was the first German nation state. This map does not say Switzerland has ever been part of the German nation state
>>
>>152177055
Schweitzerdeutsch and Standard German might be less mutually intelligible than German and Dutch tho

>>
>>152177516
Makes sense, and might be, depending on your regiolect and therefore where you are from (Alemannic region or Low German or Rhineland region). Both are Standard languages, Swiss German is not. Standard German and Standard Dutch come from the same still somewhat tangible root
It doesn't change that Swiss German is German. Other German dialects are also far away from Standard German, Low German technically is closer to the Northern Germanic languages even
Nobody doubts that Switzerland has its own identity. As do many regions within the Federal Republic of Germany, though 150 years of nation state have somewhat brought everyone closer together, of course. Still, Switzerland can easily be considered part of the spectrum - as it has been for a long time. That does not say anything about it being supposed to become part of a nation state that happens to be called Germany
Again, no one said this map is a political one. The map itself doesn't say so either
