Sure, Villa and Nottingham have their titles, and it does mean something. It shouldn't be surprising that the English league has history. But there's a break between "then" and "now". My club used to be a European heavyweight at the time Forest and Villa won their CL titles ... now they aren't10-15 years ago, the league was considerably weaker. But it kept improving as more and more money flowed into it. No shame in that. I dislike the reality of Premier League ownership, and I consider it a relatively soulless "product" ... but it is an entertaining product, and it is the heir to a proud and long history. Fair game, though I do not agree with most of it and find it ridiculous when people support the entire league and pretend it is some super-English thing. All top leagues are globohomo nowadays, but the Premier League is first in that regard as well. Part and parcel of what it is, probably of what it was founded for
