Metsbros, how are we feeling? Losing Diaz, Pete and Nimmo sucks, but we did need to shake up the core. Diaz was out of our control. Pete's defense sucks but it's gonna be hard to replace his fairly clutch hitting and overall run production with a decent average to boot. It's not impossible though if we do Tucker (LF/CF) + Contreras (1B).I also think we can cushion the loss of Diaz. Williams is a great pickup. If we can get Suarez and re-sign Rogers, that's a pretty lockdown 7-8-9. Plus Minter will be back and we can maybe use Manaea for long relief and Reed Garret can be nasty if he's not overused.

For what it's worth I think a lot of the teams this year would have won the World Series last year and would have swept The Yankees and Dodgers in 2024. I think we're at a point right now where a lot of the top teams are going to be better than they would have been because the Dodgers are pushing the envelope so far that it's raising the tide. If you're a fan of baseball this is a really good time because I think the Dodgers excellence is lifting all boats. This has been evident to the eye for the last couple of seasons, but not really on paper. Emerson can't turn on fastballs at all right now; every airborne ball in play of his versus heaters is shot down the left field line. It takes him too long to get on plane with fastballs in a way that allows him to do damage, and he drives them into the ground most of the time. His average launch angle as of list publication is one degree, while his groundball rate is up over 50%. None of this means that Emerson is bad, it just means he's not a fully actualized threat as a power hitter right now.
